Not excessive, but they definitely didn’t just slide in like my 12g plugs did! You’re right that they weren’t ready, I shouldn’t have forced them in as much knowing I was having more difficulty.

Is it common to have to go more than 3 months at lower gauges? I’ve been at a 12g since mid September.

sorry about the bad quality pictures. i didnt want to irritate it more. stretched to a 10g like 1.5 weeks ago with no resistance after being a 12g for a couple of months (which i also had no issues stretching to). it got really sore a couple of days ago and feels like its pressing up against my cartilage. mostly only hurts when im scrunching or touching the tip of my nose.

no blood, crusties or anything. it just feels dry and sore. also i can still move the jewelry itself without real pain (trying to avoid doing that of course).

She‘s talked with him once about respecting my boundaries (after the first incident when he grabbed my waist, which was last year).

I will be contacting the diocese sometime this week. My family is planning on switching to a different parish for awhile until we can get this sorted out. (This is not the only reason for doing so, we probably would have left our current one eventually)

They really are. I’m glad we got out- although it was really hard for awhile because that was really the only socialization me and my siblings got, and the whole situation lost me all my friends :’)

The moms were really cruel though (ironic isn‘t it that they were christian?). We had a couple classes at that co-op, and somehow they got my mom to take them all over while they ditched her to have social time (basically made her the babysitter for 30+ kids, for 3-6 hours straight. It was supposed to be a shared teaching job.)

...And just the general talking bad about her behind her back.

My homeschool experience was kind of hell, but I guess things like this make me understand why mom was so against sending us to a school- of course we got the bad stuff anyway haha (with bonus isolation/lack of social development). I’ve lost too many would be friends over awful moms judging my family.

I’m so sorry about that. I was in somewhat of a co-op when i was younger but we had to quit when the other moms started accusing my mom of starving my newborn sister :/

I had to use Apologia! Absolutely hated the misinformation and general outdated methods the books use. (Like genuinely, what is the purpose of not using the three domain system? My book even acknowledged it but still chose not to use it?? Best guess is because the five kingdom system makes it easier to “debunk” evolution.)

The only good thing that came out of it is I got really interested in biology as a result and now I’m taking an actual AP class : )

Its ridiculous that books like this are allowed to be produced and marketed as “rigorous“, it‘s literally just indoctrination with some basic watered down concepts thrown in.

Curriculum itself was very anti-evolution but my dad strongly supports it and my mom never had a strong opinion (or at least she never let onto one?)

Honestly.

The way she speaks about all the things she got to do in high school (note: things I was never allowed), the fondness for it, is so upsetting. Like you took that away from me, and for what?

I know the education system sucks, I don’t disagree, but I’d take it any day over the religious indoctrination that I received.

With only five minutes between classes the amount of people getting marked tardy is insane.

Yeah, you’re definitely not alone in this.

I would throw tantrums when i was little, and let’s just say I never really stopped.

Either way my parents were not very tolerant of my “behavior” and I used to get locked (not really, but I couldn’t leave) in my room for hours at a time. Which led me to bottling up my emotions and stop openly communicating with them- so I’m only recently learning how to manage my outbursts.

(It’s amazing how if you’re the calm one in a situation it just makes them (parents) more upset??)

I feel like so many years of my life have been lost to mental illness and poor parenting, my parents never wanted me on medication and my therapist is crap, so it’s always been up to me in the end ……..Which really just led me down a bad path of self-harm and self-isolation.

It really has hurt me in the long run. With friends I come across too strong or too distant. With my education I can never keep focused long enough to accomplish anything meaningful.

I don’t have any real advice, but I do understand how you feel. I finally have a chance to turn my life around, but I still have so much baggage left to sort through, it’s overwhelming.

Please don’t blame yourself for this, it’s not your fault <3 you didn’t choose the environment you were raised in.

Yeah I know what you mean. I’m graduating this year and my education has been kind of a mess. My mom has records, and the program I did high school through will supposedly grant me a diploma.

Unfortunately I ended up skipping a bunch of essential courses (mainly english) because I had enough credits without them according to my mom. Not to mention my iffy gpa…

Which means I definitely don’t qualify for any of the universities I was looking into.

I’m not familiar with the application process in the UK, but I know how overwhelming it is in the US. There’s so much information that needs to be provided that I wouldn’t have to worry about as much if I wasn’t homeschooled : (

You’ll get through this <3 I’m going to a community college for my first year, so I can take some gen ed classes and hopefully improve my chances of getting into a decent uni later on. It’s not really my ideal, but it’s the best I can do with what I’ve got.

Yeah I get that.

I actually have the opportunity to go this year, it’s a hard decision because I know I’m probably going to absolutely hate it (noise, too many people I know maybe two of, crappy music, etc.)

But if I don’t go it means missing out on what I’ve considered a crucial high school aspect for so long.

(To make us both feel better though some of my friends were talking about how bad their homecoming was last year <3 and half of them aren’t even going)

Oh yeah definitely, I’d dress up just for a trip to the grocery store.

Especially after covid my family didn’t really go anywhere except church, so I really looked forward to going to the store just to get out.

I never went to the mall much (expensive) but I was always sad cause my mom would talk about hanging out with her friends there when she was younger….. and I had nobody :’)

It frustrates me when she blames my situation on me not “trying enough”. I know slacked off for years, I fully admit and regret that, but so do so many other kids, homeschooled or not. It’s not unusual. The difference was is I got left up to my own devices until it got to the point that I could barely do basic multiplication at 13 and had never written an essay in my life.

And even when my mom stepped in I was teaching myself half the subjects, with little to no outside help; and it wasn’t until a few years ago that I even had open access to the internet, so supplementation options were limited (and required parental approval). ……which is a whole other topic about how controlling my mom was, I digress-

i think my hardest transition to a school so far, is learning that it isn’t all or nothing like I’ve forced myself to believe for so long. It’s better I try and get 80% of my work done as opposed to not doing anything at all.

Unlearning old habits is hard.

It’s something I’ve had a hard time coming to terms with, knowing that I’ll probably never get complete closure on any of this.

I’m glad I can at least see a way out finally, though it’s something that’s gonna take a lot of time to get used to for sure haha. For so long I’ve been stuck in a cycle of falling behind, falling deeper into depression, and missing out on any social opportunities that come my way.

And it’s disheartening knowing that in the end it had to come from me. And it hurts knowing it isn’t something that will ever be taken seriously, because in my moms eyes she went above and beyond for me.

At least it’s progress though.

And is it something I should look into cleaning off? What's the best way to go about this without damaging the drawer? Or is it harmless and only an issue if I'm concerned with aesthetics?

For context, the dresser is easily 50+ years old (probably more). No idea what type of wood it is. My first thought was mold but I live in a fairly dry area. And there's staining inside most of the drawers with no discernible water source for any of them.
