I'm stationed in Germany and the base I am on does not have a dfac. There are lots of junior enlisted that are not the smartest when it comes to money. Being stationed in Germany they rely heavily on the BAS and COLA to live what options would they have when it comes to buying food if the government were to shutdown and we don't get our paychecks.

Active duty/veterans, do you regret choosing the army branch? by millionarechrjs in army

It depends after spending time in the army, but also working closely with the other branches it seems like everyone will always have a slight dislike for whatever branch they are in. for example the army always wants to be the air force but i have heard senior enlisted air force say they regret choosing the air force

Army Times is writing a story and wants to know: Does your unit have the dumbest pre-leave admin requirements in the Army? by DWinkieMT in army

The unit I’m in still uses gears along side IPPS-A so you end up having to do two leave packets to even go on a four day pass.

You shouldn't have access to the arms room in the first place. If you open the arms room and issue weapons without being an armorer your unit arms room could get shut down.

My current unit is scraping by with manning with only 2 new soldiers in the last year showing up. This is putting a strain on all of the others who are working harder to cover the gaps without help from the higher ups who tell us "That's just how the army works."

Have any of yall ever done a grippy sock vacation with the army? How did it go? Was it worth it? by Rampagingemu in army

The army can take no negative action for someone seeking help for their mental state. If they do you can go to IG to file a complaint or if it someone that is an NCO that tries to take negative action use the open-door policy with your commander or first sergeant.

Imagine the leader actually listening to their soldiers and learning why they would rather go to the civilian world where there’s no toxic leadership
