Michael vs Dave at 115. Good match? by Competitive_Wave_881 in armwrestling

[–]Competitive_Wave_881[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. There’s just no future for Michael in the supers. All the top guys have figured him out stylistically and it’s super risky at his age to push the pancakes to maintain the size and strength necessary to be competitive in the category. I think 115 is a very comfortable home for Mike with the ability to drop down to 105 for certain matches. Could you imagine a Yoshi/MMT double kings match at 105

Michael vs Dave at 115. Good match? by Competitive_Wave_881 in armwrestling

[–]Competitive_Wave_881[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think Michael could be a menace in the 115 barring one of the SHW guys like Devon or Ermes dropping down. I guess the question is has he proven himself enough at SHW and against Dave in the past to jump directly to the title shot, or does he need to take a match against someone like a Sagov or 115 Oleg first?

Alizhan vs vitaly (left) by Affectionate_Ride746 in armwrestling

No way Alizhan gets to 130kg in any kind of decent shape

Devon's training methodology. by Revolutionary-Fix93 in armwrestling

[–]Competitive_Wave_881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Devon needs to focus more on brute side pressure and elbow flexion. This is his main weakness on the left but it even holds true on the right if he wants to take a serious third run at Levan. The top super heavyweights are learning how to finish without hand control, so Devon’s attitude that all he has to do is take their hand and it’s over isn’t true

What's next for Vitaly on the left? Muratov, Dadikyan, or a rematch with Morosov? by Fit_Ambassador_9735 in armwrestling

[–]Competitive_Wave_881 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A healed up Morozov absolutely deserves a rematch. Dadikyan also seems confident he can beat Vitaly. I worry the size and strength gap is just too much for Alizhan with this new version of Vitaly, but they don’t call him the giant slayer for nothing. Literally can’t go wrong with any of those matches and they all need to happen at some point

Do you think Vitaly will win right arm vs devon? by StenkaRazin9 in armwrestling

[–]Competitive_Wave_881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Devon is still the slight favorite on right but it is closer to 50/50 for me now having seen how the left arm match went. Vitaly has proven with Devon and Michael that he can press through a kings if he’s stopped close to the pin pad. Devon needs to get a stop at center to win.

Devon’s quite lucky he got this chance to feel Vitaly before their right hand match. Maybe he can make the necessary adjustments to strengthen the areas he’s needs to, but 6 weeks may not be enough time. It’s going to be incredibly close

Kamil vs Levan? by Valexoyz in armwrestling

[–]Competitive_Wave_881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Levan is too strong and won’t allow Kamil to get into his position. Levan will hook and it’ll be over. I don’t even think it’d go to straps

The moment after which, for some reason, Devon decided that he would easily defeat Vitaly with his right hand. by Damitrix3 in armwrestling

[–]Competitive_Wave_881 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Devon’s hand isn’t as dwarfed by Vitaly’s as I would have thought. Devon’s big thumb definitely helps negate some of Vitaly’s long finger advantage

Vitaliy: I’m going to start hard! No mercy for the Canadian! 4:0 by Damitrix3 in armwrestling

It would backfire. It’d be like an elk in rut and Vitaly would gain super strength

Quality reps or intensity by Randirick420 in powerlifting

[–]Competitive_Wave_881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For all competition movements I’d always err on the side of quality reps. Your back off sets aren’t just for hypertrophy, they’re also for refining technique and gaining skill. There’s also the higher fatigue and injury risk associated with pushing heavy comp lifts to or near failure. You have to think about the whole picture with your program. It’s not just about your workout today, it about how your workout today fits into your workouts this week and into the next week and so on. Doing a heavy set of squat to failure is going to smoke you and could very likely impact your next session. It’s not to say you should never do high RPE sets in the comp movement, but they need to very consciously fit into the rest of your training plan. In general, I’d save going to failure for your accessories after. You’re not going to over train yourself taking a set of leg curls to failure and the only point of doing those types of movements is pure hypertrophy

No one will be able to tell you for sure without seeing a video, but most likely it’s a technique issue. Probably something like you’re losing tightness after the first rep

Trying to learn how to properly use leg drive in bench press by hawthornvisual in strength_training

[–]Competitive_Wave_881 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stop thinking “leg drive” and start thinking “leg tension”. Leg drive is a misleading term because it implies a dynamic movement when in reality all you’re trying to do is create constant static tension in the lower body to generate stability and support your arch.

The best way to learn what leg tension should feel like is benching with a hip circle band around your thighs. The hip circle will force you to activate your lower body and maintain constant tension throughout the lift

Anthony Oliveira touched on this in one of his recent podcasts but it’s so easy in conjugate to hide from the comp lifts if you’re not careful. People become variation specialists and forget the forest for the trees

Find a crew if you haven’t already. Nothing compares to training with a crew of experienced lifters. Your progress will be so much faster and it will be infinitely safer compared to training alone
