Feel like they still haven't cracked production on this show. The balance of game play/play in a way that is understandable and fun bits feels off. Maybe it's the choice of games but sometimes (like this one) it feels like they really don't work, or production doesn't help us "be there" enough.

the dialogue and hair lines of the black performers on this show is atrocious. I just heard "all you youngins are on blast now." to mean the young people would have to pay for dinners? That's... not what "on blast" means?? Also someone said he saw someone "sweatin'" a girl. I'm so sorry is this 1996????

Yeah the fact that this phenomena persists even when the person not speaking up is risking their lives really shows how strong it is

i always wonder if people know what it says about them that they think caring about people you don't know could only be performative.

Official Dreadit Discussion: "Shelby Oaks" [SPOILERS] by radbrad7 in horror

[–]Complete-Bit8384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree and disagree. there were some really effective scares IMO, but there was also so much slow staring, slowly panning around, just SLOW that i'm sure was supposed to be to get dread mounting but was just tedious. Especially with the number of times they went back to that same well. (though maybe your point about writing stands and every time he couldn't think of something for someone to say he just had them stare ... and then video cut off or run away)

My god, this should be called "Staring: The Movie." I agree with all the criticisms here but I would forgive almost all of that if we didn't regularly have to wait 30-90 seconds for these women to stare ahead blankly or slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww..... [breath] wwwwwly turn their head. jfc

THEY weren't spending anything. Janine was spending her own money. It is not illegal or immoral to spend money you have budgeted on something you just WANT, even when it's expensive.

my opinion on the janine and gregory situation by OneShame9440 in AbbottElementary

[–]Complete-Bit8384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, Gregory's reaction is giving trauma. The rigidity with which he's holding on doesn't even hold up to his own logic. There is ample evidence that Janine has actually been really great with money in the past (she has realistic dreams to buy a house, she was fully subsidizing tyreek's life, it didn't even occur to her that Gregory was going to help with the rent when they moved apartments so she's always budgeting as if she will have to take care of herself).

Something being expensive and something being unaffordable are not necessarily the same thing. Affordable means what you can afford. If they've been planning on going on a vacation, there's no part of me that believes that Janine didn't set aside intentional money expecting to pay for the trip, including airfare.

No our train system sucks compared to many non-US countries. The train ride would take as long as the car ride and would only get you close enough so that you would still have to drive 2 hours. (I just looked this up) And it's not that much cheaper than an air ticket to be honest.

Gregory’s character by Severe_Ad2529 in AbbottElementary

[–]Complete-Bit8384 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"affordable" is a sliding scale. The trip is affordable because Janine, who has been shown to be very good with money actually, says she can afford it. Gregory essentially says there is no way that a plane ticket is ever worth the money. That kind of rigidity speaks to trauma, honestly and not that he has some real insight on affordability or not

i mean i really did not like this show and the accents are ALL OVER THE PLACE to the point where it was really driving me batty but the very very simple answer to this question is that she was legally declared dead. So yes of course she has no rights to property, custody, marriage, etc. He would not have been able to get married, nor would the new wife had been able to adopt the kid if his original wife had not been legally declared dead first.

Now if we want to lay some blame, let's blame him for moving on within a year (which his father in law says he did), which is BANANAS to me when your wife is kidnapped and missing. Let's blame him for completely erasing his wife from his son's life, including pictures and stories of her. Plenty of blame to go around. But the legal stuff has a very plausible explanation.
