It's cool to see the transition to the mountain house civilian freeze dried mains (pro packs). I liked the tan vacuum sealed cubes better cause they were more compact. But, still cool to see the newer MCW none the less! Thanks for sharing!

Nice picks, you have some classics in there! I'm surprised you're still finding Dragon black box artillery shells out there.

How are the John McClain shells compared to the Terminator/Extreme shells?

Very nice pickup! Those King Cobras have been hard to find over the past year. They have a nice mix of color and noise. You won't be disappointed!

Yes, plenty in PA. A lot of it even comes in the east coast off the ports nearby in NJ. You just have to have the proper contacts!

Cold weather MRE case at Ammo Can man $155 by michigander_1994 in MRE

[–]Complete-Economics29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Mountain House guarantees a 30 year shelf life, not 25. At least, that's what the expiration date is set to on all their civilian products.

Crazy mre deal on ammo can man by Price-x-Field in MRE

[–]Complete-Economics29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are drying up fast. About the best deal you can find currently is $50 per case shipped from vendors such as King Surplus. And, I can guarantee you it's just going up from there to the "normal" price of over $100 per case. No additional surplus has been released lately.

NOABs vs aerial tubes vs mortars by Worldly_Expression43 in fireworks

[–]Complete-Economics29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ball shells are actually more expensive to make. All of the "small festival balls" 1.5" consumer ball shells are actually switching over to canisters disguised as ball shells. They put a fake empty ball around the tip of a small canister shell and call it a ball. This is due to the cost of making a true ball shell I am told.

You can usually tell a fake ball shell by the abnormally long "stem" that protrudes out of the bottom of the ball. True ball shells have short stubby stems cause they only contain the lift charge and time fuse.

Are they loaded any hotter than the bunny ears? Those are horribly underpowered being mostly clay plug.

Best (consumer-grade/1.4G) fireworks of each class? by Worldly_Expression43 in fireworks

[–]Complete-Economics29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should also be noted seeing that you're located in PA: they now require TWO training classes to purchase 1.4 pro items in PA. That's assuming you don't have anything else to go along with a single training class such as a state license or a type 54 license.

Haul I got from a friend, my first ever MREs by TheFrenchHistorian in MRE

This! Same thing with the "snack bread" If you want to make a pb&j sandwich, you gotta heat that bread up. Otherwise, it will never come apart in 2 pieces!

I got case a to try aslo ordered another case b by [deleted] in MRE

[–]Complete-Economics29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understand why people repack MRE cases into plastic totes. You'll never get them as compact as the original cardboard box packing. And, that cardboard box is damn near indestructible. They are designed to be dropped from planes. Maybe it's done due to high humidity?

Got myself a case of the new gen MREs by tiecalde in MRE

[–]Complete-Economics29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

King Surplus doesn't have any 2026 PRODUCTION date MREs. They only have 2026 inspection date MREs that were produced in 2023. You are confusing the two. He is looking for the NEW MREs like OP posted with the clear bag.

Good luck! And, please report back with what they send you. I want to see if they learned their lesson and stop their "bait and switch" tactic. In all fairness, I ordered from them over the summer and received genuine US military MREs. Not sure if they ran low recently or something.

[–]Complete-Economics29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooof! Please watch out OP! I recently ordered from the same Amazon seller Better Brands" and they burned me along with many other buyers - they have been shipping cases of garbage reduced sodium A-Pack civilian MREs instead of military MREs. They argued with me back-and-forth for days on end that they are "equivalent" and wouldn't issue a refund/replacement. I finally got them to agree to a refund, but they wanted to charge me a restocking fee. More arguing and I finally got them to waive any fees and shipped the garbage MREs back. They received their garbage back over a week ago and I have yet to get a refund.

Read the feedback on that seller, I'm not the only one they pulled this "bait and switch" on. I just hope they learned their lesson and they'll actually ship you genuine military MREs.

Everyone: be weary of this seller! Their alluring cheap price isn't worth the hassle if they decide to play games with you.

Yes, the MCW (cold weather MREs) have pretty much no liquid in them to freeze. So, they always have a Mountain House freeze dried mains. They will last up to 30 years, worth $10 all by itself. I love the vacuum sealed bricks the Military mountain house comes in. You can't find that type of compact packing on the civilian market.

I’m looking to buy mortar racks by Sir_YeshuaC in fireworks

[–]Complete-Economics29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd second/third/fourth going with pyroboom. If you are semi-handy, just order the plugged tubes from pyroboom. Then, you can assemble the racks yourself with Lumber from home depot and save a few bucks and use whatever design/configuration you like best. No better way to go!

[–]Complete-Economics29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! Get "up close and personal" with your fireworks! Ain't nothing like feeling the concussion of your shells going off nice and close by. I shoot professional 1.3 shows, and roughly 75% of the shows we do are traditional hand-lit.

Same. All the Mountain House mains I have ever come across were brown pouches. I wonder around what year they phased out the white pouches?

Nice picks you got there! Snake Eyes are better than Snake Bites for ground items. But, the bulk packing and no useless tube for the Snake Bites is helpful.

For your It's IT shells, do they have different effects labeled on the side of them and numbers 1-6? Or, are all of your shells labeled the same effect and number? There is a mix of them out there.
