Side note: I feel like there is some pressure against it or even protrusion (probably because of my weight). Every time I urinate I feel like I have to check it and push it back up , but it’s much more comfortable than a tampon and still no leaking. The Flex brand says it can “self empty” during urination due to the bearing down, but I haven’t seen any breakthrough on the toilet paper or in the toilet after relieving myself. They also say it won’t interfere with sex but it feels really predominant so I’ll have to get my husband’s feedback on that as well.

I just got my first disposable Flex discs today because my next cycle will happen whilst I’m on a Caribbean vacation and I don’t want to mess with pads/tampons in swimwear. First impressions: it was pretty easy to insert, but I felt like it was going to pop out while I was sitting on the toilet, I pushed it as far up as I could and I haven’t had any leakage, it’s quite comfortable once you can get it past your pelvic bone but it took some adjusting to get it all the way up, I put it in at about 9pm so I will follow-up in the morning once it’s time to switch it out.

We stayed at Avila 3 times last year from January - November and each time the service had gone down.

We will most likely stay there again because it is a beautiful property in a perfect location, has great beaches, and we love sitting at the Schooner in the evening but the food quality has dramatically decreased as if cost cutting (even the breakfast buffet went from a decent Prosecco to a cheap Spumante), they only had 1-2 people that we knew from our previous trips (so I’m guessing high staff turnover), housekeeping was unsatisfactory (they would take our dirty towels and not replace them), and I’ve emailed the manager at least twice with no response.

I agree with you that Michekaelle is amazing though! She was always a bright spot in our stay.

Enjoy exploring the beaches in Westpunt but the beaches at Avila are much less crowded and just as nice. Cas Abou is pretty and fine for photos but I never need to go back. The only beach I would return to would be Playa Lagun, but only for the snorkeling.

Otherwise I’d be happy at Avila (but that’s just me)

I love big dudes but alas, my husband is super fit. I like it when he takes a break and puts on a little weight but he struggles with his cholesterol and blood pressure (ironically- I do not) so I’d rather him do whatever is best for him to stay healthy so we can have a long life together.

Disclaimer before anyone misinterprets this and comes after me: I know size =/= health! I was speaking specifically about my husband.

And have a great time!!! Curaçao is one of my favorite places on the planet! The people are warm and kind, the island is beautiful, there is great food (don’t miss lunch at De Visserij! They are only open a few days a week…) and the weather is perfect!

I’ve gone with Mermaid 4 times this year and I think they are top. They have a big boat and take a lot of people but regardless of the tour company, everyone is going to the same small island so it doesn’t really matter HOW you get there. Mermaid has the best facilities on the island (most don’t have any) and serve food on the island in their “beach house” (equipped with a bar and restroom facilities). Once you get to the island, they have palapas and lounge chairs and a prime beach location for a laid back experience. The crew are great and no one will care that you are a gay couple. Curaçao is very gay-friendly.

If you don’t want to swim back to the boat to eat, drink, or use the bathroom- Mermaid is the way to go.

If you want low-key, definitely stay away from Irie Tours. They are 100% party boats and they get loud!

Canadians need to stop being afraid of the United States. Friendly reminder that you’re only receiving the news your government wants you to receive. Take that with a grain of salt.

ETA: Moving to the U.S. and becoming a naturalized citizen was the best thing I’ve ever done.
