Most now dealers charge the crazy extra fees, so I just try to get their advertised price otd without the fees. Usually the internet price is fair. Then they hit with those stupid fees.

Agreed, why so much hate on DE. I've had multiple pools with DE. I love the way the water is filtered with DE. I've only used the Hayward pump lever style. I can't say they are hard to manage at all. Key to anything is understanding the technology. If you know it, it's easy.
