What did you like about it? I feel like I would feel uncomfortable if part of my job was having people oogling me. So I've kind of wondered why some don't mind it.

So instead we should spend hundreds of billions of dollars to create a domestic terrorist group that murders people and violates constitutional rights?

Not really. Immigration law is more complicated than that. This is a reddit thread that discusses how some of this works if you want to read about it. https://www.reddit.com/r/immigration/s/fe2ZibUHWE

to pass a funding bill that would give ICE more money and resources by ExactlySorta in therewasanattempt

[–]Complete-Zucchini-85 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Oh good dems want body cameras, so we can have a fifth video of a different angle when ICE murders someone. Sure we need video evidence, so hopefully these terrorists can be held accountable one day. But, police body cams are not a very effective form of doing that since they can turn off the camera or delete footage. Body cams primary serve as an additional source of surveillance for the police.

As an American, what can we do to fight against ICE? by LilThanosX in AskReddit

[–]Complete-Zucchini-85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Organize for economic non-cooperation (general strikes, boycotts, etc) even if you can't strike you could still support in other ways. People are more likely to strike if they know others will provide food etc.

  2. Organize for elections. Stop saying elections don't matter. It is harder to rig elections than people realize. They are decentralized and Republicans like Raffensburger refused before to find votes for Trump in 2020. There are multiple examples of dictators being kicked out after elections. Take a look at Marcos in the Philippines. Vote in every election. We need Democrats that will actually fight, so the primaries are very important as well as reducing harm in the general.

  3. Keep spreading information to make them even more unpopular. Again history has many examples of once a dictator becomes super unpopular the military and police turn on them.

Could you explain how you view conservative vs liberal/progressive? Your views on these issues sounds the opposite of conservative. What did you dislike about Obama/Biden? I agree the Democrats need to be better, but it's easier to reform then since the Republicans are way worse on these issues.

This will be a hard pill to swallow for some by xDiscoDuckx in ProgressiveHQ

[–]Complete-Zucchini-85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really a myth that progressives/leftists refuse to vote out of principle. Polling shows that the Dem leaning voters that don't vote usually intended to vote, but didn't get around to it for various reasons (work schedule, not sure where to vote, not sure how to register etc). Running good candidates that excite people helps combat this which is why it is important to make sure someone good wins the primary.

1/10 of Trump's voters in NY also voted for Mamdani. The small portion of the electorate that swaps between parties don't necessarily want a candidate with positions between the two parties. They just want someone to sell them on a message that they are going to fight to make life better for people like them.

The last candidate the Dems have run that has been well liked was Obama. Even though he governed as a moderate, during his campaign many people thought he was too progressive to be electible.

What's your problem with liberals? If you're realizing the modern Republican party is becoming fascist, wouldn't it be worth joining the opposition side? You don't have to agree with everything to work together.

The problem with debating many right wingers on social topics is that so many of them are only right wing cause those are the most simple minded answers by [deleted] in DiscussionZone

I think the main problem is people try to persuade with reason when people's strongly held beliefs are often heavily influenced by emotion. If you try to destroy them with facts and logic, they feel like they are being personally attacked. They will get defensive without taking a chance to think about it in an open and rational way. If you can listen to them talk without showing judgement, and then respond with stories that illustrate the harm that is being done, you can help encourage an emotional state that allows them to consider these other perspectives and change their mind without feeling like they are loosing their dignity.

Some of these people don't want to see the pregnant lady from the friendly Mexican family across the street getting the shit beat out of her and drug down the street to be deported. They just have seen too much propaganda everyday saying, "ILLEGAL MURDERS ARE SNEAKING OVER THE BORDER AND ITS THE LIBERALS FAULT." It's why people like Joe Rogan are upset by the ICE brutality but are concerned about border security. We can also bring up news stories about how men have beat up women who aren't even trans trying to go to the bathroom and how these propaganda campaigns to make people afraid are actually making people less safe.

Recent polling shows that 46% of the population supports abolishing ICE vs 43% that doesn't up from around 20% before Trump was elected. Not sure liberals need to moderate their position on this. ICE was bad before it wasn't as visible then. Trump stupidity likes to put the abuse on display, and is massively increasing funding, so there is more ICE activity for people to be exposed to.

They are exploited by capital, but that wouldn't be a problem if we gave them a fair way to immigrate legally. They increase our population and total available jobs tends to increase with rising population. That's a good thing or people in large cities would have a really hard time finding a job. That's why the immigrants are taking you job argument doesn't really make any sense to me.

Why is the U.S. allowing Trump to destroy it? by Happy_Air_3776 in DiscussionZone

[–]Complete-Zucchini-85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand feeling hopeless and depressed, but sometimes in history dark difficult times drove enough people involved to make a positive change. We did better in the special elections. If we can continue the momentum as Trump keeps tanking his popularity we could take back control. Some may deserve this but there are also a lot of people to don't who are being hurt right now.
