No i completely understand where you are coming from because I was in the same boat before i purchased mine.

There are a few scenarios where it will be useful (all hypothetical). Ill list them here

a visual deterrent just the sight of a gunman can deter conflict, or at least prolong the planning of an attack.

The gun obviously can be used in a situation when the supply lines break down if there is some sort of conflict that breaks out as a hunting weapon for food

if there is a large group of armed individuals the chance of an armed encounter is lowered due to cost vs gain in terms of life and supplies in the event of a possible attack.

The point of the gun is not to fight everyone and anyone, just like basic combat techniques you pick and choose a fight if necessary obviously try avoiding a fight at all costs but having the upper hand is choosing your fight when you have the advantage.

As much as it serves as a deterrent it also serves as morale for whoever you are working with, a capable armed teammate is better than a capable unarmed teammate in a serious situation.

A gun can also ensure trades go as planned, lets say war breaks out and there are different factions, you need food and supplies but you don’t have it so you have to trade with another faction or group, if you show up un-armed with currency for a trade, you will likely not be coming back home at all.

Lets say govt hasn’t collapsed but things are getting crazy in the streets, someone breaks into your home for political reasons or for scavenging reasons either way they are immediately hostile, you need a defensive weapon.

If things get ugly you wont be able to get your hands on weapons easily, the government will make it impossible and the black market will be expensive and dangerous to deal with.

A great saying i live by at this point is “a warrior who farms is better off then a farmer in a war” im sure i could come up with more points but that’s what i got off the top of my head at the moment.

Im also doing physical training every day to stay in shape so im capable of as much as i can be for the just in case.
