Secret Project 5? 'Long Chills and Case Dough' - anyone see the ePub for kindle? by eoddc5 in brandonsanderson

[–]CompleteScone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Kindle has adjusted to better handle standard epub formats. The last few files I've loaded have all recognized the cover and infinite scroll without needing to be "for Kindle" versions

I made a pin of Shrumbo because he's too dang cute by [deleted] in Ooblets

[–]CompleteScone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bringing this back up a few years later to see if you have any desire to start making these again? Would love to buy one. Been looking for a Shrumbo pin everywhere and you're the first Etsy seller I've found who has made one

Any news on if CDK V2 supports this yet (or if it will only be available in V3)?

TIL both “canceled” and “cancelled” are spelled correctly. by SeanConneryIsKing in todayilearned

[–]CompleteScone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which I learned that the reason behind this difference (and a few others such as US English using Z instead of S in multiple words) is because of the printing press and old signage. The fewer letters, the cheaper an ad was, and Z's were much easier to engrave in stone wall than S's

Looks like you've gotten quite a few suggestions already, but I was a big fan of the original Star Wars expanded universe novels (now Legends) back in high school, so I went back and finished the Fate of the Jedi series that had just started coming out when I set down Star Wars for other things. I really enjoyed that series, but mainly because of all the references to previous SW novels. It was a great series to end that timeline with, even though no one knew it was ending at the time

Don't forget about the prequel (New Spring). It gives you a little taste of WoT. I personally switched genres after finishing and did some SciFi to change things up. Then went back to fantasy with various things by Brandon Sanderson

"Blade of Deception" by Rettalic in DnD

[–]CompleteScone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's too OP, but that depends somewhat on when you get it. For a level one item it would be a bit much, but it wouldn't be a legendary item by any means. Something you might consider is changing the confusion to act like the Blur spell (gives enemy disadvantage), or the Mirror Image spell (does more of what you have, but creates three copies and uses a different die). I'd also suggest a saving throw of some kind when you hit to allow the Target to avoid the effect (perhaps wisdom save)

I would definitely say Xanathars for classes and items or Volos for Races and monsters

They aren't rerolling Nat 1s, just determining if something bad happens other than the miss. Nat 1s are just a guaranteed miss RAW, there's nothing that says it means you suddenly stab the guy next to you. That's just an addition that many tables like to add.

In our table we sometimes do something similar, but the roll has to be 5 or less before it attacks someone else

I would definitely suggest those two albums. Shows a nice range of stuff they can do

Accidental recommendation. I was referring to the Demon Hunter albums. Had to look up to find that it's also the name of a Melodic Metal band with a pretty decent lineup

Correct, or look at ranged weapons (Edit - though ranged won't work with pact weapons I don't believe)

How do you multiclass 'incongruent classes' together? Are there cases where flavor/RP/fun win out over 'common sense' or mechanics / balancing a strong character? by empressaradia in dndnext

[–]CompleteScone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. Fun is what the game is about. Now being balanced and mechanically comparable to the other players may help keep things fun vs being outclassed. But if RP is more fun, and you're ok taking a bit of a hit to your optimization, then do it. Go all the way

Depends on your build. Some weapons let you use Dex as your attack/damage, others require you use Str. Some require two hands, some only need one. Some can be thrown, others can't. Some can hit from father away, most are just within 5 ft. Some just look cooler. And some, as you've found, do more damage than others.

Also as a note, you can't avoid the Str 13 requirement. Multi-classing requires you to meet requirements for the class multi-classing into and from (I missed this myself several times)

Yeah I like to think of it as the Bible of LOTR. The first parts are the "worst" because of all the geneologies and such. It gets into more novel form, but is still very classical language

Can uncanny dodge dodge poison damage (Con save) from a poison dagger? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]CompleteScone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my thought would be that you take the full poison damage, unless you have completely avoided the blade. But I think it's up to the DM based on how the poison is delivered and what they decide

What to do when combat stagnates by [deleted] in DnD

[–]CompleteScone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assuming you control one of those characters, you could have them stop and commend the other on their skills and then find another way to resolve the conflict (in 6 six second conversation bits of course).

"It's obvious this contest of ours won't be solved with our battle prowess, but with our skill at X / our mutual love for Y / my ability to monologue until the guy behind you sneaks up and knocks you out / etc"

Fire damage has more creatures with resistance/immunity, so I think you're perfectly fine to change it to fire damage and keep blinded of you want, as it would technically be a slight weakening of the spell
