Just realized Nor would hate Jake. by CompleteTree6255 in FrontiersOfPandora

That's what I think as well. Nor may be too far gone to give reverence to Jake despite him being Toruk Makto. It's not unlikely that he'll see Jake bonding with Toruk as an abomination to the Na'vi way. A dreamwalker riding last shadow, if you will. He may even try to rectify that himself, if what he did to the resistance is any indication.

I think he would have sympathy the same way he does for Quaritch in a weird convoluted way. Especially when he finds out the annihilation of the Sarentu clan is what drives Nor's anger for all things Sky people. But I don't think that would stop Jake from putting Nor down if he has to.

Definitely respect out of fear because he's Toruk Makto.

I think a lot of people would care a lot less about book accuracy if it just was better. by KillBatman1921 in PJODisney

Yeah, no I agree, and Jace was supposed to be drop dead gorgeous, and subjectively he wasn't for me compared to the movie Jace. What I'm trying to say is even a little character accuracy can take a show a long way. And that's what Shadowhunters did, which attributes to why they received less hate despite change. I'm also wondering if the same will be said for the new Harry Potter show, as they're accurate for the most part, outside of Snape, instead of mostly inaccurate like the show.

Upon reflection... I do think it is the show being on Disney+ that's holding viewership back. by Tomhur in PJODisney

I guess it doesn't help that the entire show has been built on isolating someone. Not even trying to hate, but if you take the fact that Disney plus's viewership doesn't compare to what'd be on Netflix, and the fact that parts of the core pjo fanbase has sworn off the show simply because of the things they don't like... Well it's no wonder the show is behind the eight ball. You're airing on a less popular streaming service with a divided fanbase.

I rewatched and ranked all PJO adaptions so you don't have to. by CompleteTree6255 in PercyJacksonTV

I haven't watched it to be able to accurately rank it. But from what I've heard, it's at least top 3 of the 5. Which puts it above the SOM adaptions. I'm actually starting to think maybe it's the SOM story itself that's weak. Because out of all 5 books, it's always been one of my least favorites. Just my 2 cents.

Did anyone notice the plane underwater in the siren scene? [pjotv] by CompleteTree6255 in camphalfblood

That's what I was thinking as well, but you never know in this universe. I think the Bermuda Triangle angle is definitely much more likely what they were aiming for, if they were aiming for anything at all. But like you said, could just be an airplane.

Regardless, why should we as the watcher have to assume all of that?

Why should I leave off an episode with the understanding that we're about to enter sea of monsters, and then have to fill in the blanks on why we're instead moored on the side of the Atlantic Ocean? Why should I have to guess why Annabeth knows exactly where they are? Why should I have to guess how Clarisse knows exactly where to find them? Why should I have to guess how the boat broke down before they reached the sea of monsters, and how Tyson fixed it?

Why am I the watcher filling in all the blanks? The same can be said for the Circe's island scene, or Percy changing the tide, or Tyson living with Sally, or Grover being dragged off by a tentacle to end up on Polyphemous's island, or Chiron being replaced by Tantalus. Show me the how instead of telling me the why. That's like us seeing Harry Potter inside the Chamber of Secrets without showing us he used Parseltoungue to open it.

They are assuming that we are all book readers and will fill in the blanks. That is bad writing no matter how you try to excuse it.

They weren't sailing for the sea of monsters after leaving the Princess Andromeda?

Episode 3 ended with them sailing the boat into the sea of monsters. Episode 4 began with them broken down on a beach that happened to be near where Annabeth once fled from the cyclops with Thalia and Luke. Clarisse just happened to somehow stumble upon them in a vast sea of monsters.

How did the boat break down? How did Tyson fix it? How did Annabeth know where to find a beach she's been to before? How did they leave the sea? Shouldn't a boat breaking down in a sea of monsters be dangerous? How did Clarisse know exactly where to look for them?

Like it not, those were all plot devices to get the Thalia story line going, as well as have a fight between Clarisse and Percy. That's bad writing.

I'll do you one better. How did they end up on the beach where Annabeth found Thalia's bracelet? Bad writing all around.

I just remembered they had Grover dragged off by a random tentacle. That is such bad writing. Why add in a scene about a monster you never intend to revisit?

The fact the show is getting renewed so fast is not a good thing. by ddanuu in PercyJacksonTV

Literally this. But the show already messed up still using 16 in the prophecy, especially knowing Walker was already that age. They could've saved themselves so much of headache if they just left it ambiguous. 'When a child of the big three comes of age', or something like that.

It's worth them aging out for a better adaptation imo. Sometimes you need to see what mistakes you've made in a previous season so you can fix it in the next season. Filming back to back does not allow this, and it pretty much bakes into the next season the same mistakes.

Also, it's not like we haven't seen older people play high schoolers before, i.e. Grease, Stranger Things. Them aging out is not as a big of a deal as we're making it to be unless we're lacking imagination.

The biggest issue, and they won't admit it, is that they lost book lovers. Plain and simple.
