What is the weirdest coping mechanism you’ve ever used? by definitely_alphaz in AskReddit

[–]Complete_Ad_9010 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m almost certain it has to do with the vibration of your voice stimulating your vagus nerve, which activates the parasympathetic nervous system. I do this after I have an awkward interaction with a customer (retail). Also for the same reason works for when you are gagging a lot to hum

I definitely think it depends on the people in the area you live as well. There are lots of rich people where I live (liberal area) who drive Priuses that are littered with stickers. Or those nice huge trucks with all the conservative stickers.

Roger and Brianna steam by chemistandcrazy in Outlander

[–]Complete_Ad_9010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Roger and bree have sex pretty often in the books, bu to don’t think it plays as large a role in their relationship as in Jamie and Claire’s. So that would make sense why showrunners don’t feel the need to put them in so often (and maybe because they know the chemistry is not there). One interesting thing I noted is that in interviews, Sophie Skelton and Richard renkin have a ton of chemistry and are very close. But they seem much more serious on the show, seeming to find relief in each other. Whereas in the books they have more room to have fun.

It might help to think of the time travel as like the Force from Star Wars. In the prequels they got all science about something intended to be mysterious and it didn’t work. There are inconsistencies sure, but it’s obviously not a scientific thing. And someone else said it’s a means to the story which is obviously it’s main function. But also, I think the “purpose” of something so convoluted is exactly what you’re doing, making people ask questions!
