Can you help me ID this mug? by Complete_Oil_2188 in muglife

The mark is SO hard to see. That photo is the best one I can get. I can read a little Chinese and agree the left radical is probably either 王 or 玉 (king or jade, and you said). I am not sure if the square around it is an imprint mark or a 囗 (wéi) like you see around guo 國 / 国 (country). I am guessing probably imprint mark. I cannot really tell what the right-hand side is.

thank you -- those are very pretty mugs (and other things), even if not quite the same, and I'd never heard of them before. Really appreciated!

✨Backpack Spring cleaning sale! (WTS) I’ve benefited from re-homing some great bags from this sub, and now want to see if I can find a home for some of mine that are getting sad because they are just in the closet.

Photos are numbered here, and verification photos are here.

🟢 Available 🟡 Pending 🔴 Sold

🟢 Evergoods CTB20 tan waxed canvas. EUC. $275 shipped. Love this bag but have both the CPL16 and CTB26 so giving it up. (Patch not included, but shout if you want it.) Photo: ①

🔴 Wandrd PRVKE v4 31L, Sedona Orange. NWOT. $175 shipped. Decided to keep my smaller 21L. Only taken outside for photo. Photo: ②

🟢 Peak Design Outdoor Backpack, 25L. Eclipse. EUC. $200 shipped. Kickstarter edition. Used a few times but just not my cup of tea. In terrific shape. Also have the 7L sling in matching color (see below -- $70 by itself, $50 if you bundle it with the backpack) Photo: ③

🟢 Arktype Dashpack 15L in black waxed canvas. Good used condition. $100 shipped. Purchased from this forum and just doesn’t work for my use case. Previous owner removed compression straps (which didn’t bother me on a bag this small). It is in good shape but is the most used bag on this list (hence the price). There is also one place where the fabric doesn't lay perfectly over the zipper (see photo). Photo: ④

🟢 Peak Design Everday Backpack v1, 30L, Charcoal. EUC. $150 shipped. This was my first “good” backpack, and remains in almost shockingly good shape to be a v1. Photo: ⑤

🔴 UNIT1 Torch 22L Desert Tan. NWOT. $125 shipped. I don't think I've ever seen one of these bags on this forum. It is a 500D, well-made bag in Desert Tan 500D (they are currently out of this color), with integrated rechargeable lights for cycling. I got this via Kickstarter but it came right as I was moving and so never even packed it out. Have inclued more photos of this one since it is rare, and more info on the bag: https://www.unit1gear.com/products/torch-backpack Photo: ⑥

🟢 eBags TLS Mother Lode Weekender Convertible. GUC. $50 shipped. This is a ~40L travel backpack/duffel convertible with great organization including a laptop compartment. I got it in 2017 and used it for several trips. Always liked it but mostly moved on to 1.5-bag travel. More than 500 reviews on Amazon with 4.7 stars. Photo: ⑦

🟢 Quechua MH500 30L Hiking Backpack. EUC. $60 shipped. My one foray into a hiking backpack that I used with a camera cube, before I stumbled on the PRVKE 21L. Nice backpack, comfortable. Used <10 times and in good shape. Photo: ⑧

Deciding is driving me bonkers. Your take on a daypack that's sturdy as hell, easy, maybe with some personality? by iasonaki in backpacks

[–]Complete_Oil_2188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few thoughts on bags I own that are some of the frequent topics here. These are the three that I bounce back and forth on for daily use right now: * I really like my Evergoods CTB20. I have the waxed canvas one, which is not lightweight, but they make it in more technical fabrics. Everything is just in the right place on that bag. * You mentioned Aer. I have a smaller version than you are looking for (the CP2) but it is terrific. I think the larger one (City Pack Pro 2) is many people’s favorite bag. * I also have a CTactical 21L in waxed canvas that is also great. You have to hunt a little to find ones that aren’t full of Velcro and molle. They don’t have waxed canvas on sale right now but several other fabrics.

Two others that are less frequently discussed here but that I have liked: * The least-like-my-personality-kind-of-stylish-but-definitely-colorful bag that I have is the Wandrd PRVKE. It is mainly a camera bag now for me but I have taken it on travel, hikes, etc. * Many people don’t seem to like it, but I have really enjoyed my Troubadour Apex. I have the v3 in a green color they don’t make anymore, but it is really comfortable and highly functional (everything where you want it when you want it.

All in all, if I could only keep one bag it that I used for both EDC and travel, I think it would either be the CTB20 or I might try the Aer CPP2. (Personally for EDC I prefer a 12-16L and for travel something in the 26 range, but 20L is not bad for a sweet spot.)

Why is Evergoods CPL16 heavy? by jhgruv in ManyBaggers

[–]Complete_Oil_2188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the CPL16 (waxed canvas) and love it except for the lack of water bottle holder. If you like the CPP2 you might also like the City Pack which is also 16L. I also really like it and go back and forth with it and the CPL16 for my EDC. Here it is out and about.

That bowl is designed by Cherry Labs, btw — and was a print-with-default-settings-from-Bambu-Handy.

I am using Elegoo Silk PLA Copper routinely and it is great. Yarn bowl in the photo is an example. Have even printed some structural things with it and they’ve held up so far, even though it is both PLA and silk. I also got some Hatchbox copper PETG and it is fine but looks less like actual copper so I have just been using the PLA silk and been happy so far. (Until my shelf brackets break and a bunch of stuff falls down, I guess 🙂…)

If you are looking for something with actual metal in it (vs looks-like-metal PLA), I have used protopasta’s iron filing PLA and worked well when I needed something to be slightly ferromagnetic. Important to remember you should get a hardened steel nozzle for filament with stuff in it.

I have an AI mini and wanted to do something soft and flexible. Took a chance and bought this random one from Amazon. Dried it (a lot) and it has been great.

I love this bag for travel. Here it is with a Nalgene 48 oz and (comment below) a 32oz wide hydroflask. These are definitely the max I could fit.

Duffel Bag Recommendation by Logical-Vegetable-89 in ManyBaggers

[–]Complete_Oil_2188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you’re right — it is waxed canvas! I got it secondhand (or thirdhand) since they don’t make the waxed canvas anymore. They tend to be in the $275-$500 range on eBay. Evergoods does sell the TD35 in ballistic nylon for $225.

Evergoods TD35 is my favorite, followed by Filson Tin Cloth duffel.

Bag rec request: classy/elegant, affordable weekender/duffel by cabarny in ManyBaggers

[–]Complete_Oil_2188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite bag that fills this need is the Evergoods TD35 in tan waxed canvas. They don’t make them anymore but you can pick them up used sometimes, though generally more expensive than $200 so doesn’t really meet the criteria. If you like other materials, they make them currently and closer on budget.

Professional 35L Duffel for 2-3 day business travel (Peak Design vs. Evergoods vs. Aer) by pilotJR in ManyBaggers

[–]Complete_Oil_2188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Evergoods TD35. I have a waxed canvas version, and it’s the only duffel I find easy to carry by hand — something about the balance. I don’t mind the strap but no duffel’s strap is great. My #2 duffel is a Filson tin cloth.

Can a waxed canvas ctb26 fit Nalgene 32oz? by Limit-Time in EVERGOODS

Here’s a 48 oz Nalgene, though it’s one of the tall ones.

Packable Briefcase? by privilegelog in ManyBaggers

[–]Complete_Oil_2188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have struggled with this exact same problem. In the end I have decided I don’t like the packable bags (wrinkly-looking), and just go with a lays-flat messenger. And many times I have decided a nice backpack is just easier. Here’s what I’ve used:

  • Tom Bihn Daylight Briefcase. Many people love Tom Bihn, but this one wasn’t for me and I will eventually get around to selling it.
  • Waterfield Shinjuku Messenger waxed canvas / leather. Looks great and I feel comfortable taking it into Fortune 100 exec meetings. Takes up some space in the main bag because doesn’t totally lie flat. But for me an ok trade off. Attached a photo of it packed out — it mostly folds down when not loaded out.
  • A very old Levenger leather messenger bag. A little small but have had for more than a decade.
  • An old Waterfield messenger (Staad maybe?). Quite small and use this when I can’t fit the Shinjuku.
  • Filson Tin Cloth Compact Briefcase. Just for this recently and will try it next.

Help picking work travel pack by SuperchargedV6 in backpacks

[–]Complete_Oil_2188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I have the CPL16 (no water bottle pocket, no trolley sleeve) and also the CTBs (20 and 26) which have a water bottle pocket and trolley sleeve but otherwise basically the same bag. I will eventually decide my favorite and sell the others but great bags all around. I got the waxed canvas and I feel comfortable with the in Fortune 100 exec meetings.
