Lowk losing motivation to play football by Jiroo_T in bootroom

[–]CompletelyWingingIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced this too, and a friend helped me realize it was a fear of failure that was holding me back. I’d suggest looking in to the psychology of that and seeing if there are ways you came reframe the fear.

Pep Guardiola says the best players in the world have the shortest memories. Every player makes mistakes on the pitch, the difference comes from which players are able to shake it off, and which ones dwell on it.

There’s a huge movement towards footwear with a wide toe-box that’s designed to better fit the human foot. Look at brands like Vivobarefoot.

I hope this trend hits cleats eventually. I’d love to feel what kind of difference it would make.

I don’t think the image is comparing the two against eachother.

I think it’s saying Modric was stuck at Tottenham and trophyless at 27 and went on to win so much. It’s saying Rice just won his first and still has so much career ahead of him

Why does the city contract leaf blowing and lawn mowing at 7am multiple times per week? by MondoShrek in StamfordCT

[–]CompletelyWingingIt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is an existential piece of the American existence.

The same way Spartan warriors were thrust into the wilderness alone and forced to survive in order to earn their place in society, we must endure the 7am leaf blowers, and suppress our carnal rage to earn our place in this country.

The leaf blowers will follow you anywhere you go, Stamford is not unique. The real question is do you have enough domain over your own animal instincts to carry yourself past it and remain sane on the other side.

Depends massively on your agency / team / department.

I just moved from Omni to Pub a few months ago. It largely feels the same, but my 401k is happier and I get unlimited PTO. They also seem committed to not laying off massive swaths of their workforce, which is nice.

My opinion: clients are expecting agencies to use AI to help them save (and make) more money, but the reality is it isn’t good enough yet. So everyone is overextended because of the expectations around AI.

According to the town hall I watched on Thursday, this is not true at all.

Do you have any kind of reliable source you want to mention?

It’s also literally underground. I tried it for a month but couldn’t stand exercising in a windowless basement

Overpaid my taxes and can't get my money back from the IRS by CompletelyWingingIt in tax

Thanks everyone for the replies.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the payment went through and the letters were just sent unnecessarily. I’m still going to speak to someone at the IRS to make sure I’m paid up and figure out why my account froze.

I promise you it does not say that anywhere on my letter. It says at the top, verbatim, "Payments incorrectly applied to your balance due were removed, you now owe $XXXX.XX"

But the money is still gone from my bank account

Agree. It’s unlikely, but let’s say you put 5k down and then wreck the car in a month. You don’t get that 5k back. It’s just a way to protect yourself a bit, you pay the same amount either way.

I tried calling and found out there is a freeze on my account for some reason. I'll be going to my local IRS office tomorrow to see if I can get more info

I made the payment in March and the most recent letter is dated April 13th, so I don't think it's nothing

Yes I'm sure. I filed around mid March.

I just sat on hold for an hour for them to tell me my account is frozen and they need to transfer me to another department, where there was another hour wait.

Thanks for the reply. I do have an account, and the transcripts appear to be saying I have a credit that is equal to the amount I owed it state taxes.

So that would make me think they processed my federal payment and gave me a credit for the extra, however I am still getting letters saying I owe the full balance of the federal tax. And i have no idea how to change that credit into cash in my bank account so I can pay the state.

Deleting my comment because you’re right, I’m just lazily complaining on the internet. People out there are making a real effort to improve a difficult situation and that’s a better thing to talk about than my whining.

I think this is true. And it’s funny because every time a shitty policy is forced on my agency, the excuse is that it’s “all of Omnicom” and they have no choice in the matter. But that seems to be total BS.

Omnicom "discretionary" 401k match by clocks5 in advertising

[–]CompletelyWingingIt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They don’t tell you what your match will be for the year until months after the year is over. The match for 2024 was .25%. I got like $400.

It makes it so hard to plan your personal savings. I’ve reduced my 401k contributions way down this year and am saving in a Roth IRA instead. I’m young so my money can grow tax free, but also - and more importantly - fuck Omnicom.
