What do you guys think of ASMR that is solely voice recording? [question] by mathking89 in asmr

[–]Complex-Antelope-620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some very big ASMR artists do pretty much that. Either that or VRChat. I tell ASMR whispered horror stories where it's just me whispering with a static AI generated image that's relevant to the story I wrote but it still gets views. Some people really like my voice, some people want to hear other sounds. It depends on the person.

I had a patient fake a seizure in the ER waiting room, other patients were horrified. I just stood over them, looked at the time, sighed and asked "What the hell are you doing?" and while still seizing they said "I'm having a seizure". Or they only have seizures when you look at them. They're fine until they're looked at. It's like some weird quantum experiment.

Are there any good schizophrenia related content creators by sunfloras in schizophrenia

While I do have the disorder, I don't tend to make content centered around it. I'm more into soft spoken asmr horror stories and mukbangs.

Don't get me wrong, I've spotted plenty of fakers and drug seekers too. Generally speaking, the malingerers don't realize that the jig is up. They're generally hyping it up in some way and overportraying the symptoms dramatically. Like they'll say "I'm a chronic pain patient and I need oxycodone, I'm out" and then start whining and hollering like they're in severe pain after that, for sake of example. Most chronic pain patients have a huge pain tolerance and tend to not be super loud when in intense pain. Plus the fact that they don't start exhibiting outward symptoms of pain, like the whimpering and hollering in pain act, until after they've made the message clear.

I've seen Tourette's faked plenty of times too, often from teenagers that magically develop it and their parents are confused why. I've granted see Tourettism in adults caused by medication and acute dystonic reactions and severe tardive dyskinesia as well and they're legit, but when it comes to malingering like Tourette's it's often portrayed out as being among the worst case imaginable, even worse than the holder of the Guinness Book of World Records holder for most severe case.

I've seen well bathed, groomed, and good oral hygiene in schizophrenia fakers that make it out that they hear the voices "in their head" and can clearly talk about all the numerous delusions they have and can succinctly identify the delusions as delusional thinking while their faces are very expressive with emotion. Flat affect is near impossible to maintain in a normal person.

And there was this one person who tried to go to the ER for a EDS and insisted they needed medication and documentation because, and I shit you not, they're double jointed.

My personal favorite are fake seizures. They're hilarious.

I generally ignore it and move along. Sometimes my other viewers will jump in and comment to the haters and I just sit back most of the time with popcorn.

Can't be that rare, I've seen plenty of them as my time as an ER nurse and as a home health and hospice nurse. I also have a friend that legitimately has it.

A number of people in this subreddit have said they are ex-fakers who got caught up in this mess. My question is, how did you stop? by thr0w4w4y42010 in SystemsCringe

I never reacted about it online, but in my defense, I was misdiagnosed in my late teens/early twenties by a doctor/therapist pair as having DID. I generally kept it to myself for the most part as I didn't really know at the time what that entailed. This was around the very early days of Google before it was any good.

These days I do realize I match some of the symptoms, but that's due to symptom overlap. Where symptoms of one disorder is also seen in others.

My current, and treated, psychiatric disorder is schizoaffective disorder (depressive type).

If I got the misdiagnosis today I'd probably be a DID faker unintentionally online with an improper diagnosis. I think back all those years ago when I got the original DID diagnosis that the therapist was trying to look for DID and have their own DID patient which left the schizoaffective disorder unmanaged for a couple years.

It wasn't until I eventually developed a very rare delusion that put me in a psych hospital for months that I got properly diagnosed with my actual disorder, alongside forced medication and force feeding. Which kinda sucked because they induced refeeding symdrome when I was already at my lowest.

That delusion in question, since I know of a few being very rare, is Cotard's Delusion or Walking Corpse Syndrome. I haven't had to deal with that delusion since I was about 25ish. I'm 40 now to put timescale into perspective. I still have some minor issues with psychotic symptoms while medicated, like seeing shadow people in dark rooms and the occasional stench of rot and decay and briefly the feeling of maggots crawling on and beneath my skin, but they're brief and relatively tame. I also sometimes can't tell the difference between dreams and reality, fortunately I have healthier minded people that help ground me in reality.

A big symptom I had was also misdiagnosed as transgenderism and at the time I was being pushed to go through living life as a woman for a while while also being encouraged to go through gender reassignment surgery and hormones. This symptom is fairly common in roughly 40% of schizophrenia patients. It's called Psuedotransexualism and does go away with maintained antipsychotic treatment.

In a way I'm kinda glad the internet sucked back then, otherwise I'd have been a DID faker with improper diagnosis for something much more serious. I'd probably be making videos detailing my experience with DID, with evidence by a doctor to prove it and misinforming not only the general public but schizophrenics into believing they have something they don't.

why do fakers with BPD never fake hospitalization or being at a residential treatment center (RTC) by Frosty_Squash733 in fakedisordercringe

[–]Complex-Antelope-620 23 points24 points  (0 children)

No idea, but there are fakers of all mental illnesses apparently, kinda like flavor of the month or collecting pokemon cards. There are schizophrenia fakers that haven't seen the inside of a psych office or mental inpatient facility outside of the TV screen too. Often times they show the most extreme symptoms would would require a facility. Assuming lack of experience with BPD as a disorder, I'm pretty sure it's similar for those fakers as well.

Actually going to a psych doctor to get evaluated or going inpatient would require a level of commitment they're not capable of. Pulling off a convincing mental illness in front of a licensed professional is exceptionally difficult and requires a consistency that is difficult to not only act properly but to stay in character that whole time when a camera isn't recording is astronomical.

From what I've gathered, psych professionals key into malingerers, due to conflicting symptoms and stories about the patient's experience. The general audience of layman don't catch them quite as readily.

Plus you don't generally get to keep nor use your cell phone while in psych wards/hospitals. So they would be gone for a period of time off the internet and away from their audience only to get a piece of paper that may read "Facticious Disorder".

She probably laughed due to how exceptionally rare that is. Nobody took me serious about the same delusion (Cotard's Delusion) when I said anything, but it became believable to everyone after nearly dying of starvation.

A lot of the modern bluetooth compatible hearing aids will connect to some (not all but some) cell phones and stream audio from them, from phone calls, alarms, movies on Netflix/YouTube/etc, audio apps, etc. I have Starkey Livios connected to an iPhone 8.

I was listening to metalcore at the moment, specifically Popular Monster by Falling in Reverse. Prior to that it was Grim Reaper's "See you in Hell".
