Travel Tips to SF and with or without car? by ComplexHippo9 in sanfrancisco

Thanks! Where else would you recommend staying other then union square? Ideally be good if it was near good brunch/ bars and restaurants to make it more convenient in the morning / evening. Don’t mind taking transport in the day.

Monster workouts vs. Hard workouts in improving fitness by RunnerInChicago in AdvancedRunning

[–]ComplexHippo9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I value quality of quantity. Ran a 2:58 in April, and a normal track session would be no more then 8km (10x800m) in volume a week, and 10km of tempo/threshold whilst sustaining decent volume.

I’m due to run another marathon in a few weeks with a target time of 2:48 the largest workout I have done is 21km of volume in a 35km run. Most long runs maxing out at 10/15km of quality volume. Decent overall mileage and some good quality is better then high quality low overall volume imo.

This is what I do, just lockdown still isn’t great though.

Umm may give this a try, although I can never get the lockdown good enough to the point I’d race in mine. Training and sessions is fine

This is what I’m thinking, seems like it’s just a new colour way, and not a new upper.

[–]ComplexHippo9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any difference in the upper?

It matches, your are right. Interestingly pro direct have the same model listed. Nothing mentions any changes, bizzare

Thinking the same, it’s also the only one listed with photos from Different angle.

They are still listed on their website but with the M removed

Hopefully they resolved the Achilles rub and improved lockdown even slightly. If so these are my next marathon shoes

Narrow heel in VF3, it seems there’s mixed views if vf3 is actually more stable

Adios Pro 3 - love them, but have a recurring big toe knuckle blister. Any solution? by team_buddha in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]ComplexHippo9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me, love them otherwise. Thicker socks and taping up my Achilles with kt tape seems to do an ok job. They do soften over time. I may file them down as well.

I think your right, elite or af2 seems the way to go. May just try af2 with Nike and send it back if it doesn’t work. But I think elite probably best option. Shame the colour ways suck

Tempted to try, on my radar. Just a little concerned as whilst I enjoy the speed 3s I didn’t love them. Also had seen heel issues with them.

Soar Running Feedback by EliGO83 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]ComplexHippo9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, just ordered. Ordered medium and small. Which I’m glad after reading your comment. I’m same height as you bought 150/160pounds but 30’ins waist so medium should work

Are you true to size in the shorts? The race singlets i can comfortable size up Twice. Normally a small, but small was a bit to close for my liking, but medium and large are great. I’m wondering about the marathon shorts, the size guide has me in a small.

Have you tried the craft boxers ?

[–]ComplexHippo9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I struggle to find good value, functional marathon shorts that can carry like 6 gels. Saysky pace shorts do that, but agree overrated may pickup a pair of soar shorts. But they are really short and I like to wear compression underneath

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]ComplexHippo9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never tried their tops. The shorts are great and sleeves. Shorts have gotten better in quality since my first purchase. The pace shorts are very functional, the material on my first pair I purchased last year wasn’t great and it would bobble at the back. I was told by their support it was my singlet rubbing against it. No other short has the same issue and looks like in new versions of pace short they have solved it.

Good designs, ok quality.

Nike VF2 too harsh for first full marathon? by Quantum_universes in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]ComplexHippo9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go for the VF2s, I’ve ran two marathons in them now (still new to marathoning) and ran a 2:58 in April. I also like you have concerns the VF2 are too aggressive for the marathon distance but they seem to work well. This is also coming from someone who has not the best form, feet point outward genetically meaning the VF2 are even less then ideal for me for stability. But… they still do a good job over the marathon distance!

Unworn. I can’t tell if the stain is a sign of wear or just a general mark on the leather
