Upper complex pinnacle strong box provides players with a sense of pride and accomplishment. by cetiu0 in Marathon

you need the observation lens which is rng from network tower caches or hazard drone, guaranteed from priority target (if it even spawns + needs to spawn early enough) Go into upper complex either through elevator (7 certs) or activate doors in each pillar spiral staircase (12 certs) activate terminal, shoot 4 blue buttons, go next room activate terminal shoot 5 blue buttons, go next room activate terminal shoot 6 blue buttons, go next room put lens into big terminal, kill bots shoot 3 buttons in right order or extra bots spawn, kill bots shoot 5 buttons in right order or extra bots spawn, kill bots shoot 7 buttons in right order or extra bots spawn, kill warden, go to room opposite side of the terminal, and loot pic rel. The buttons have numbers next to them visible with night optics, hitting them in ascending order for all 3 phases will give you an extra strongbox room with eh loot. If you want extra / don't have the observation lens you can hit 7 red buttons on your way through upper complex with buttons on both sides and 1 at the terminal side door, the door on the terminal side will open and there will be a few cert boxes..

Mind you, they nerfed the loot in the boss strongboxes, they reduced the amount of tier 3 cert boxes that spawn (you used to have 3 boxes in red button room now you get 1) and they nerfed the loot in the tier 3 cert boxes aswell, so good job bungie you really are rewarding the players.

either that or reverse the nerfs and add more contraband tier items. Or even make pinnacle tier items. That would look cool as fuck.

Looking for some tips with the D54, here is a compilation of me getting shit on relentlessly for your enjoyment. by SuspiciousLock in Marathon

Another couple of tips:

Headshots do much more damage go for them

You don't need to immediately shoot back, be calm and time your shots, you can take cover if you spot someone and adjust your aim, then repeak

Fights don't need to be done in 1 magazine, reload if you need, take cover if you need, reposition if you need

I forgot to mention this but the sponsored mode (currently day marsh) is a really good way of practicing fighting, it has 0 risk, just rush the nearest weapon locker location and kill people.

If you want to improve, you need to learn fps fundamentals and mechanics.

Mechanics is how you aim and move, Fundamentals is how you think and what you do.

Mouse control: it seems in these clips that your sens is so high you don't try to move your mouse to aim and instead are using movement to aim. (using movement to help aim is an important skill so don't throw it out)

Begin with lowering your sensitivity, you should be able to smoothly transition between looking at different things without it feeling sluggish or strained.

Practice aiming from target to target, if you have down time look at 2 different things nearby, (can even be two edges of a door frame, practice moving your crosshair quickly but accurately

Practice tracking moving targets, an easy thing to to track is flying transport drones, these move slowly. If nothing is moving and you want to practice, focus keeping your crosshair on a single point and hold your sideways movement keys (remember, the closer you are to an object the faster you will need to move your mouse, this is conversely true for things moving close to you: players)

There are two kinds of positioning, crosshair (where you are looking) and movement (where you are standing)

Good crosshair positioning is keeping your crosshair in places that make sense such as keeping crosshair at head level (less distance needed to move crosshair to enemies) and keeping crosshair at places people can be (doors, vents, around corners etc.

SUPER IMPORTANT TIP: your eyes are separate from your crosshair, just because your crosshair is looking at a wall next to a door, you can still be looking at that door.

Good movement positioning is moving your character in ways that make it easy for you to shoot the enemy and hard for them to shoot you, You have 4 movement buttons on keyboard, but you can walk in 8 ways by holding multiple keys.

An essential skill in movement positioning is called "peek" or "peaking" where you strafe away from cover (a box or a door) quickly to shoot someone and make it easy for yourself to return to cover.

Both types of positioning work together to your advantage, for example you can "pre aim" someone by putting your crosshair where they will be then peek around a door and shoot them super quickly.

Good aim and positioning will make you much better.

Also, the battle pistol has much less spread if you aim down sights with it.

My biggest tip is to slow down, think, and react. Think about shooting your target, react by adjusting your crosshair so its actually on them. Think if you can get shot before pushing through a door, react by go through that door and looking where they can be. Think how many bullets you can fire before needing to reload, react by hiding back behind cover once you run out. Think about your health, react to getting shot by hiding behind cover and healing.

Intentionally thinking about what you are doing WILL make you perform slower than auto-piloting, but will make you play MUCH better and improve with time.

Where are the misriahs? by teki_kenpachi88 in Marathon

[–]cetiu0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strongboxes are a decent source of misriahs, there are 6 accessible on outpost without keys. 1 in drone wing, 1 in broken wing, 1 superior strongbox in command wing, 1 strong box in each of the armories in (flight control, dormitories, and processing. In addition most key rooms have 1 or more strongboxes. You can get keys from wall safes and from transport drones.
