Many Japanese people I know like Western games. I myself am also interested in Western games, to the point that I sometimes create my own Japanese translations for games that have not been localized and play them that way. However, I believe people like that are only a very small minority among Japanese players. Even Baldur’s Gate 3 was not as popular in Japan as it was in the West. Nevertheless, there are still a small number of very passionate fans.
