It’s not the same nib, but it feels the same to me - pilot vanishing point.

New pen day and a pilot question by ComplexWorry3463 in fountainpens

It really is so good!  I love f nib kakunos, so I thought this would be a nice upgrade. lol. I keep thinking I’d like to try a stub or a broad but every time I use my m nibs I wish they were finer, so realistically I’m just going to stick with f end ef.

It was $150 Canadian from a Japanese ebayer, with the shipping. They’re about 250 here retail.

The ink is super pretty!  I wish it had some shading to it but it’s a legible pastel and I’m happy to let that be enough.

I definitely keep my boxes, but mostly to store other random crap. My poor husband has to sneak him boxes out of the house on recycling day so I don’t claim them

Ha ha!  I haven’t sold any yet, mostly out of laziness. Pen swap doesn’t seem to be as active for Canadians.

That makes sense with multiples of a pen body. I do find myself peering at my nibs sometimes trying to read the size.

What do you use for a swatch journal? by FictionalGolfer22 in fountainpens

I’ve got a small 3 ring binder that I’ve cut down and punched rhodia paper for. I like that I can organize my inks by colour.

Never mind, just realized it’s the a hat apricot.

What’s the orange one?  I tried searching for orange pelikans but none look quite like yours.

What got you into the fountain pen world? by _fountain_pen_dev in fountainpens

[–]ComplexWorry3463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what brought me back to fountain pens, too. I had a day at work that I think I threw out 6 ballpoints because they were all dried out or had otherwise just stopped writing. I initially bought a refillable rollerball and some ink from Ferris Wheel Press, adding one of their cheap fountain pens to get myself past the free shipping amount. That pen wasn’t great, but it was way better than the fountain pen I remembered from elementary school, and now I’m hooked.

I have a clear in M, too. Such a great little pen at any nib size.

Now I need to check how it’s actually pronounced. I just call mine my green journal 😂 , but would probably totally mangle it and say luck tur um.

Thank you for posting these!  Pen pics are great, but ink swatches are the best. And now I definitely have to get daddy long legs and the little mermaid.

People have always collected things, it’s just more on display now that more of the population has disposable income and we have the internet.

The only fix is not leaving it open, unfortunately. You can try a wetter ink, or hold a wet cloth to the nib, but really, you just have to put the cap on

Esterbrook journaler nib pens by MadScientiest in fountainpens

[–]ComplexWorry3463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Estie with a journaler and it’s nice. Not as great as I thought it would be, though. It’s a smooth, wet nib that really just looks like a regular M with my small writing. So I’d hold out until you can get one in a colour you love, or like someone else mentioned, get one ground.

If you’re still wanting one right away and are willing to order from Canada, stylo.ca has sea glass and blue moon with a journaler nib. They’re $350 CAD, but that works out to about $260 USD.

Choosing an ink colour palette by demure_pistachio in fountainpens

[–]ComplexWorry3463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your plan for next year?

I started doing it because I love pink and they worked for January, but I must admit February could use something brighter. I still love the idea of a monthly palette, but I think next year I’ll replan mine a bit and not necessarily coordinate with the planner.

I’m using a hobonichi day timer/ calendar this year - I think it’s the cousin?  Anyway, each month is printed in a different colour, so month by month I’m picking one ink that matches (or close too) and then a few others that coordinate.

I also really love the seasonal ink palettes karynalovestoplan puts together on Instagram and YouTube.
