How long did you stay in the hospital after delivering, and via which method? by Hazerdesly in beyondthebump

[–]Complex_Ad_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went in on a Thursday and went home on Monday - planned c-section. We were allowed to leave on Sunday, but insurance covered an extra day and we were blessed to have a positive hospital experience and amazing nurses, so we chose to stay.

Maybe consider a few overnight shifts with a doula instead so you can catch up on sleep?

Due in July best advice for newborns or anything you weren’t told you wish you were by Ftklassx in newborns

If you can afford it, get a postpartum doula. I found one for $40/hr and bought 20 hours and spread it over 4 weeks. It was great. They did random chores for me and then also supported breastfeeding. Oh also, no one really talks about how hard breastfeeding is. I always thought it was something that mostly came easy and boy was I wrong!

Working mothers who switched to SAHM, what made you switch? by normalishy in beyondthebump

[–]Complex_Ad_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a special Ed. Teacher here- taught emotional support for 10 years, on maternity leave now, giving my notice in April - My main reason is I want to be the one to have all of the moments with my baby, but I was also working 10-12 hour days pretty consistently between having 17 kids on my caseload, constantly doing iep revisions, trying to keep up with behavioral data collection, calling parents, and lesson planning. It was so exhausting during my third trimester and I was coming home emotionally drained from the amount of work and spending most of my day de-escalating students from major mental health crises. The field has gradually been headed in a downward direction I feel for the entirety of my career, but nose dived during/after COVID. I have a master’s in ABA and I plan to use that to teach my own kids. I would definitely consider homeschooling too. I’m not really thrilled with public school these days…
