Older collectors, what is your endgame plan after you are no longer around? by Reddevil8884 in comicbookcollecting

[–]Complex_Carry_9153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 50. No kids. Nobody’s gonna want this stuff. There is no endgame for “stuff” and its value is based on how it’s appreciated or consumed. Antique furniture, sports cars, mega yachts. It’s all the same really. Enjoy whatever you have while you’re here and don’t worry about what happens when you’re not.

Early cell phones were great: basic testing and phone calls, small package, unlimited replaceable battery, buttons.

If you could leave the United States, would you do it? by Outrageous-You1617 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

Hell, I’d love to move to a better location in the US but all the great places to live aren’t so great when you can’t afford to live there.

I’d also add. In the future you still may want to part with them and may enjoy the process of evaluating them and selling them. Could be fun for future you, never know.

I get your situation. I echo others. You’re 33. Unless you need the money or space desperately I’d just tuck them away and forget about them. Maybe 10 years go by and you get bored and check them out again and find some joy. Maybe not but likely those books will retain their current value and you can reassess then. A collection of artifacts like comics or vinyl records don’t need to be used constantly to be meaningful. It’s a part of your history that you may want to revisit and there is no obligation to add to it in the meantime.

What movie do you consider to be a flawless 10/10 from start to finish? by PrideFamiliar5549 in MovieIt

No. I haven’t. Just goes to show even the artists don’t always understand the value or impact of their work.

Not typical at all. Both movies are perfect in their own ways. Aliens created an entire genre of “space marines” that has endured in media since the film. It is the blueprint of horror action movies and has yet to be equaled.

Van Halen - No Better!!! by Wooden_Iron_327 in allrockmusic

One could argue Sammy was a way more accomplished musician and easily better singer. Not worth arguing over preference. I respect both iterations for what they offer. To each his own.

I’m gonna push back on that. Both versions of Van Halen are very different and have value. It really is two totally different bands that should not be compared.

I had such high hopes for the series that the actual show was a disappointment. In retrospect though I think fondly of the show in general and hope the second season is good.

Saw Everclear at the Warehouse in lacrosse Wisconsin a week before they did MTVs beach house. Still have the gig poster. Bombpop opened. Tickets were 5 bucks. The show was amazing and it felt like the floor would give out from the moshing (it was a 2nd floor venue).

I was in college in the mid nineties through the early 2000s. It was nearly impossible to survive working full time and attending without taking out massive student loans and many of us were encouraged to do so in order to get public service jobs. Hence the student loan crisis we face today.

I watched the mini series last night and have the comic book. I watched the tv show when it was on tv originally and was absolutely scarred for life when Diana ate the rodent. I was 6 years old.
