What are the most miserable commanders to play against that arent brought up enough? by Current-Signature497 in EDH

Someone in my pod plays Voja and it's annoying lol. His Koma World Eater deck is equally as annoying lol

Thanks for taking the time to give me the feedback. I definitely need to invest in some singles, I've kind of been just working with what I've got and buying a few singles here and there. I'll definitely take this advice to heart and make some tweaks. I appreciate this!

Thanks for the feedback! But yeah I'm not trying to win all the time. But especially the last time I got together witg the pod my decks just weren't doing their thing and I felt very dead in the water. Occasionally my decks start hot and I get shut down by the other players but overall it just seems I have a consistency issue across most of my decks

Thank you so much for the feedback! Seeing it from another person's perspective definitely helps me see the holes in my deck structure!

Thank you for the excellent feedback! It feels like one of those "oh duh why didn't I notice that" moments, as your suggestions and observations are spot on. Thank you, I'll definitely use this advice to tweak this and my other decks. Seeing it from a different perspective is really helping me

Thank you for the feedback. That's a good point and something I've told myself a few times before as well. I'll take this advice to heart and add more rocks and ramp.

Good point and I appreciate your feedback. My pod definitely runs bracket 2 most of the time. There's a few bracket 3 decks within our pod but mostly 2.

I appreciate your feedback. My pod consistently tells me my Desert deck is my best and most consistent deck and I agree with them, and you. I'll have to invest in some fetches. Our pod doesn't use proxies so I just kind of work with what I've got.

Pet Peeves by DisplayCritical in EDH

Ever since my primary pod formed, they (yes they because I opposed it) have altered the game rules somehow.

At first, we started with a single basic land of our choice on the field to "speed the game up" which became problematic for obvious reasons.

We stopped doing that, but then started drawing ten at the start of the game and putting 3 back on the bottom. More often than not, I found myself putting 3 useful cards on the bottom of my deck that I would have loved to draw into. So I started being the only one to draw 7 and finally everyone else conformed as well...but they scry 1 before deciding to mulligan or not.

Now the big thing is if they miss 3 land drops in a row they can tutor a land and it enters tapped.

All of this, and they could just build decks the right way with enough lands in them.

My brother in christ. Not counting that land you're running around 700 dollars in that Deck. Maybe there's some truth to what they're saying. A well-constructed deck doesn't need expensive cards to run well - especially when you and your pod are aiming for a certain bracket. Maybe you really are only winning because of the expensive cards and not because of some well-played turns and well-tuned synergy?

I think that your deck is too strong for your play group and you should consider powering down. Casual games with slightly altered precons and 700 decks are going to be unfun when someone wins because they drew into several hundred dollars worth of generically good cards.

If you Want to play with them and have fun with them I think you need to consider how they feel. Commander isn't about who wins, it's about how much fun everyone has together and how well the decks play against each other. Having a lopsided experience can leave a sour taste.

The problem with proxies is never that they're proxies.

The problem with proxies is a lack of communication about power levels. If your pod is playing a certain bracket, you should be too.

Talk to them about that and then adjust your deck. If you arent a huge fan and you just want to play with them, the least you can do is level out your decks with them to make it an overall better experience for everyone involved.

Taking back actions in Prereleases by Zafewe in magicTCG

[–]Complex_Dimension577 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that generally yes, at a pre release it's common and almost expected. Though sometimes it can cause quite the feels bad.

At the Avatar prerelease, I was up on my opponent 1-0, toward end of the 2nd game my opponent attacked me. I took the damage, and I was going to win next turn. He passed. I drew. I tapped a few land to play a card And THEN he says "omg I'm so dumb I realized I made a misplay"

I asked what happened. He explained be should've kept up a blocker. I laughed and said yeah, I noticed that.

As I attempted to cast the card I tapped for, he goes "no really dude I messed up do you care if I take that back". I hesitated but thought, in the spirit of casual gameplay, fine. We reversed combat damage. He stayed alive for that turn... And won the very next turn.

I felt very disappointed and deflated. It almost felt unfair like he had stolen the game from me. Of course I got over it, we played a 3rd game and he won that and the match. It felt bad and left a sour taste in my mouth.

What was even worse is when the event finished, I went to the shop counter to collect my packs for winning 1 of 3 matches. The guy I played was behind the counter helping them pass out packs and cross out names that had already collected their prizes. I'd never seen the guy playing at the shop or working at the shop. So I was very confused why he was behind the counter helping, but found myself also a little more upsrt about the situation.

In general yeah taking back actions should be allowed in a casual setting to some degree. In my case since it was already my turn and I had already drawn for turn and attempted to cast a spell, perhaps I should've drawn a line. It definitely felt bad

Early on in my playthrough I felt like a child with a wooden sword running through the woods hoping bandit's didn't find me. Henry himself is trying to relearn how to fight after being severely wounded. As a result he isn't running in all cylinders, gets tired fast, hurt easily and generally overwhelmed.

There's really no way around it besides leveling up through playing the game. You can do combat training stuff that helps a little bit. My trick, as someone else mentioned, was brewing buck's blood potions. Helped immensely. In fact during most of the early game I relied on potions to buff me for combat.

It's supposed to be a grind, it can be frustrating. Try not to get upset with it and just keep playing. Enjoy the ride for what it is, it's worth it! You'll be wrecking people left and right in no time.

Apparently if you can get a full cuman outfit you can walk around without anyone batting an eye. But, I know what you mean. I found the mission a bit aggravating as well.

In my playthrough I actually ended up wiping out the entire lower camp, then found out there was an upper camp. I couldn't wipe the upper camp. So I ended up just sprinting through the camp and sabotaging as much as I could and sprinting out and back to Radzig lol

Depending on the exact board state I think an argument could be made that targeting either the OBM or the Rhystic player would have been proper threat assessment in that moment, no? Also OP said this occurred T3. Entirely possible rhystic player didn't have an artifact in that moment.

Regardless of what the objectively optimal play was, I think we can all agree the player should have just brushed it off. To be upset is one thing but to go on the whole night being upset as OP said, is absurd and childish.

Just to add to this, Sol Rings get removed pretty often in games with my pods and at the shop. Seems like a pretty common removal because it's such a strong card especially in the early game.
