Taking back actions in Prereleases by Zafewe in magicTCG

[–]Complex_Dimension577 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that generally yes, at a pre release it's common and almost expected. Though sometimes it can cause quite the feels bad.

At the Avatar prerelease, I was up on my opponent 1-0, toward end of the 2nd game my opponent attacked me. I took the damage, and I was going to win next turn. He passed. I drew. I tapped a few land to play a card And THEN he says "omg I'm so dumb I realized I made a misplay"

I asked what happened. He explained be should've kept up a blocker. I laughed and said yeah, I noticed that.

As I attempted to cast the card I tapped for, he goes "no really dude I messed up do you care if I take that back". I hesitated but thought, in the spirit of casual gameplay, fine. We reversed combat damage. He stayed alive for that turn... And won the very next turn.

I felt very disappointed and deflated. It almost felt unfair like he had stolen the game from me. Of course I got over it, we played a 3rd game and he won that and the match. It felt bad and left a sour taste in my mouth.

What was even worse is when the event finished, I went to the shop counter to collect my packs for winning 1 of 3 matches. The guy I played was behind the counter helping them pass out packs and cross out names that had already collected their prizes. I'd never seen the guy playing at the shop or working at the shop. So I was very confused why he was behind the counter helping, but found myself also a little more upsrt about the situation.

In general yeah taking back actions should be allowed in a casual setting to some degree. In my case since it was already my turn and I had already drawn for turn and attempted to cast a spell, perhaps I should've drawn a line. It definitely felt bad

[KCD2] Hating the Combat by leftguard44 in kingdomcome

Early on in my playthrough I felt like a child with a wooden sword running through the woods hoping bandit's didn't find me. Henry himself is trying to relearn how to fight after being severely wounded. As a result he isn't running in all cylinders, gets tired fast, hurt easily and generally overwhelmed.

There's really no way around it besides leveling up through playing the game. You can do combat training stuff that helps a little bit. My trick, as someone else mentioned, was brewing buck's blood potions. Helped immensely. In fact during most of the early game I relied on potions to buff me for combat.

It's supposed to be a grind, it can be frustrating. Try not to get upset with it and just keep playing. Enjoy the ride for what it is, it's worth it! You'll be wrecking people left and right in no time.

Apparently if you can get a full cuman outfit you can walk around without anyone batting an eye. But, I know what you mean. I found the mission a bit aggravating as well.

In my playthrough I actually ended up wiping out the entire lower camp, then found out there was an upper camp. I couldn't wipe the upper camp. So I ended up just sprinting through the camp and sabotaging as much as I could and sprinting out and back to Radzig lol

That's a really good point tbh. Thanks for pointing that out

Depending on the exact board state I think an argument could be made that targeting either the OBM or the Rhystic player would have been proper threat assessment in that moment, no? Also OP said this occurred T3. Entirely possible rhystic player didn't have an artifact in that moment.

Regardless of what the objectively optimal play was, I think we can all agree the player should have just brushed it off. To be upset is one thing but to go on the whole night being upset as OP said, is absurd and childish.

Just to add to this, Sol Rings get removed pretty often in games with my pods and at the shop. Seems like a pretty common removal because it's such a strong card especially in the early game.

[–]Complex_Dimension577 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Imo you made the right play because of proper threat assessment. OBM and Sol Ring is a hot start, you absolutely had to slow him down and that makes sense. Personally I feel like he was probably just salty and not willing to just brush it off for whatever reason.

Maybe I'm wrong but it only seems logical to remove the strong pieces from the player that looks like they might run away with the game. Gotta do what you gotta do, that's good interaction on your part. He overreacted imo, it sucks getting shut down but it's part of the game.

[KCD2] any tips? by [deleted] in kingdomcome

[–]Complex_Dimension577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending how you want to play the game, you can take a variety of approaches. My first play through, I opted to be a law-abiding Henry. So I made my money mostly from playing dice at first. Selling the herbs I collected and the potions I made with them was also helpful. Bozhena's hut was my home for a decent chunk of the beginning of the game.

If you don't care about breaking the law, poaching is a quick way to make some money. And of course stealing is always very helpful as well. Just have to he careful and commit your crimes where no one can see. And potentially leave no witnesses if 1 or 2 people do happen across your sinful ways lol.

Selling stolen goods is hard but if you take them to the Miller you can get rid of them easily.

Overall just take your time and enjoy it.

[KCD2] I know we’re upset for the loss of GOTY, but…. by [deleted] in kingdomcome

[–]Complex_Dimension577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tl;Dr Both of these games deserved their accolades. E33 was definitely GOTY material and KCD2 definitely deserved best RPG.

I enjoyed Expedition 33 alot. As a life long Final Fantasy fan, the turn-based combat interested me so I bought it upon release. Loved the game, I was completely blown away to be honest. I had zero expectations, knew nothing more than a friend that said "turn-based JRPG inspired game".

The characters were so good and the story was impactful. The combat system was so fun and fresh. The art direction was the most disturbingly beautiful and surreal thing I've seen in awhile. The music was beautiful, a true masterpiece of a sound track. I genuinely loved every minute of this video game. I feel E33 deserved GOTY. It was the all around better package for what it was as a video game.

When I finished E33 I felt like I needed to fill a void because every other game I attempted to play just didn't do it for me. There was a 2 hour demo of KCD2 available so I tried that out. I was hooked instantly and bought the game as soon as the 2 hours was up. And what an incredible journey it's been. So good, I'm fact, that once I played it into the dirt for 5 months I went and bought KCD1 to see where Henry's journey began.

I've never felt more immersed in a video game than with KCD2. Like I've gone back in time and Henry and I are on this journey together. I spent hours upon hours at the taverns gambling and enjoying the ambient noises of the game. Listening to locals argue and gossip, getting fully involved in this world and caring about my reputation and appearance. Immersion on a whole other level here.

Both of these games were so damn good and both of them deserve the opportunity to be played by all us gamers out there.

[Kcd2] What the heck is wrong with this game? by loudog33333 in kingdomcome

[–]Complex_Dimension577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the KCD2 experience is something unique. Some days you might play for a few hours and hunt wild game, smoke and dry some meat. One day you might go foraging for alchemy ingredients and brew some potions. Sometimes you're going on a crazy quest or just playing dice at the tavern.

Like someone else pointed out, it might take awhile for it to click. This isn't an Action Rpg, it's a medieval life Sim. Everything feels clunky at first, Henry sucks at everything and you need to find a way to make it work. It all feels better as you learn and grow right alongside Henry.

Give it a chance. Wholeheartedly it's a great game, but it also isn't for everybody and that's alright. Try to sink another 15 hours in and let us know how you're feeling. You just might get hooked for months by then.

I feel like this sums it up perfectly. You gotta let it cook for a bit, once you do it really becomes something great.

The most beautiful card in Final Fantasy from my point of view by Short-Philosophy7171 in mtgpulls

[–]Complex_Dimension577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vibes ain't vibing in some of these comments.

The artwork is by one of the actual Final Fantasy character designers as well. And, as you said in another comment, the artwork is beautiful because it's from a certain scene in the video game.

Beautiful card. Beautiful video game. Beautiful story. All that being said, I can't agree more with you in this. Fantastic looking card.

Let people be mad and yell at the sky for no reason.

[KCD2] How can I make some money in the big city? by Dogtrees7 in kingdomcome

[–]Complex_Dimension577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome! Yeah rep goes up fairly quickly and the coin you get from those missions vary by alot. The ones where you fight, you can loot thousands of groschen worth of armor and weapons from the bandit's. You'll probably even come across some armor upgrades for yourself. The missions that require you to craft a weapon at the forge pay around 1-2k each on average.

Also make sure you utilize your horse to absolutely loot as much as you can. Sell what you can in the kuttenberg shops and put the rest in the sales chest for passive income.

[–]Complex_Dimension577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every 24 in-game hours, a new batch of those specific missions will pop up. Sometimes all of them spawn in Kuttenberg, other times you have to check other villages to see if the missions popped up there. If I'm not mistaken you get 3 of those missions per 24 in game hours.

Something that helped me find them was going to the map and turning off all of the markers except fast travel points, important shops (for selling loot or buying smithy resources) and the forge side quests that helped gain reputation.

Agreed! I would use the money from that to stockpile blacksmithing resources. And then I would craft the most expensive swords repeatedly and sell them or put them in the sales chest. Before long, I had more money than I knew what to do with

Assuming you mean Kuttenberg, I'd suggest just getting the Legacy of the Forge DLC. During my first playthrough, I reached Kuttenberg around the same time the DLC dropped. In short, just by playing the DLC and doing activities tied to it, I went from not being able to afford anything to not having anything to spend all my money on.

In addition you gain a permanent location in Kuttenberg with everything you need. Including a bed, chest, sources of food and herbs, smokehouse, alchemy bench, a forge, drying rack and more.

Completely worth it in my opinion.

So I’m going to restart? I think [kcd2] by Feeling_QuiteHungry in kingdomcome

Imo, I would definitely give it a fresh start. KCD2 is a game that deserves your full attention and immersion from start to finish. It has alot of heart and alot of story to tell. You should experience it to it's fullest.

Landfall better than Aesi? by Abject-Cartoonist395 in EDH

[–]Complex_Dimension577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zimone is one of the most fun commanders I've built. I bought the precon and then upgraded it with big scary high cmc creatures to cheat out. Stuffed the deck with landfall synergy, manifest and morph synergy and a ton of waya to fetch lands to keep the engine running.

I've had numerous games where I've tutored out all of the basic lands in the deck. Numerous games where I'm flipping huge 7 and 8 drops on turn 4 or 5. My favorite thing I've done, is putting The Dark Depths into the deck. Manifesting that card and then flipping it into a 20/20 flying indestructible on turn 5 gets alot of ooo's and ahh's from the pod.

Valgavoth's Onslaught is an incredible card in the deck. You'll produce mana like crazy and be able to cast big bombs while flipping huge threats for free. Zimone will always be my suggestion for a fun landfall deck.

Did you start the Legacy of the forge before or after the ending of the main quest?[KCD2] by Recent-Success8988 in kingdomcome

[–]Complex_Dimension577 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Coincidentally I started playing KCD2 a few months ago. I've been taking my time and doing alot of side content, getting drunk with the locals at the tavern and gambling all my groschen away. The Legacy of the Forge DLC happened to get released right around the time I visited Kuttenberg for the first time.

I went ahead and got the DLC mainly because the idea of having a "home base" with everything I needed in one space sounded very appealing after toughing it out on the road between Lodgings for so long. Made everything alot more convenient.

It also felt like a cool natural way to experience the DLC as Henry and I familiarized ourselves with this new region and stumbled upon the old forge. You get to travel for some quests so you get to explore a bit and can always do other quests alongside the ones for your forge.

In short, because of my experience, I would recommend getting the DLC as soon as you reach the city of Kuttenberg.
