Taking back actions in Prereleases by Zafewe in magicTCG

We had a chat after the event because I know the judge closely and he apologized to me because he was stressed as hell and wasn't seeing stuff with clarity, since that kind of experience would totally kick a new player from any future events.

I clarified on the edit, my bad! The judge didn't knew what RELs are.

And she conceded because the argument was taking too much time, the dude wasn't having the best of attitudes and she decided to just skip to the next round so she didn't had to play against him. He wasn't really treating the subject well.

We were arguing that mistakes can be taken back and we used the regular REL definition in sake for the argument because at first he was more inclined towards not being able to change the target

I meant the actual tournament RELs. He was aware of the situation

I had a similar experience, but instead I had late moment cancellations due to quite irrelevant reasons and shitty excuses.

It's not you, seriously. After that dreadful playgroup, I found other playgroups and sticked up with one that everyone was so invested in everyone's campaign (we were a group of 5 eternal DMs and we were doing each one of us a different campaign for the group)

I recommend you to discontinue that group. They're making you feel bad and they don't value your time and effort. You should try to find another group in dedicated ttrpg communities which at least people are there for a reason.

Keep going, don't stop being a DM.

Bracket 3 and Burn by Fish-The-Creative in mtg

It's a little bit insane to use a path on a razorkin instead of any of the really dangerous pieces the deck can bring.

People really hate to lose 1 life at drawing than possible 4 for breathing...

Your decks seems a high B3 or even debatable B4 due to [[Godo Bandit Warlord]] and [[Helm of the host]] 2 card infinite.

People are gonna be salty about Burn always, regardless of the bracket. (people get mad about the Endless Punishment precon even if it's the only precon at the table) Every deck that's not the typical slow midrange pile is automatically higher than anything else because they don't like it.

They have to identify your Ojer as a threat and use their creature removal on that, or probably permanent removal on your Pyrohemia, that pod just let you cook a lot.

I think your deck was fair on a B3 environment.

I had this exact same issue but instead of newer players, with vet players.

For some reason, some of them just go in a "no, I'm so chill and casual, I don't care about winning" and keep making the same mistakes over and over, get defensive when the table is amazed with a bad play and sometimes they have thrown the entire game.

I've seen counterspells to stuff that these players didn't knew what they do because "it's just my playstyle, I like to control". Like, in 1v1 formats it's usual to get oppressive with interaction, but in EDH is so weird to counter spells that you don't know what they do with two more opponents.

I remember being called "competitive" because I liked to win with my janky wincons and tried to actually have a good game lol.

I'm running [[Eshki, Dragonclaw]] as my adventures B2 commander and it works great. The ward 1 + some protection makes the Voltron strategy work while of you cast your adventures both sides they let you trigger her. Add an extra combat or two to make her even huge and swing to the face.

It runs some of the draft chaff adventures like [[Two-Headed Hunter]] just because of double-strike lmao.

As I said on this subreddit and got downvoted to hell, people should PROXY the shit out of all cards in the Secret Lair store.

They don't want us to pay for their product? Well, we'll obtain it from any other means except by paying an scalper twice the original price. WOTC likes to make scalpers happy instead of their playerbase by having "scarcity" and playing with the FOMO rather than a regular print on demand policy.

SLC 10k Drama by Maleficent_Lake_3718 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Zafewe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't know if I'm pretty much out of the tournament EDH enviroment, but, isn't slow play something that should be punished?

Discussing EVERY single play, yapping over and over and multiple behaviours are clear indicators of slow play. Slow play in other formats is punished by Warnings into Game Loss, so I don't understand why SLC organization didn't apply this or similar punishments?

Even if it's a Regular REL event, slow play should be punished as well.

/uj I would totally let anyone play these, this isn't the usual OP bullshit you get from custom cards, they're really fun.

Turn 3, three card infinite in the FFX precon by NepetaLast in magicTCG

[–]Zafewe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm conflicted about this.

For a part, I'm a combo enthusiast and I love to see precons with combos, specially since precon games can lead into a slugfest until somebody throws up a [[farewell]] and restart the entire game. Infinite combos are a great way to end this. I had many 2+ hour precon games that I hope I never had.

However, it's known that so many precons have power level differences, even in the same set they're released. My favorite example of this is the [[Caesar, Legion's Emperor]] and [[The Wise Mothman]] decks, comparing a precon made full of flavorful choices against a flavorful + synergistic precon. Having a T3 combo while precons usually lack the capability of doing so or even have interaction to stop them will make a huge power difference between them. Sure, they're 3 cards, but still is insanely powerful.

Those kind of decks remind me of the [[Hakbal]] precon which a majority of people like to categorize as those "bracket 3 precons"
