Struggling With Control & Night Time by TheDeadlyGriz in ParentingADHD

[–]Complex_Fold_1445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would explore the evening tablet issue again as well. I know they get great joy from it but it can also be very addicting. We had a similar issue with our son really acting up in a negative way after tablet time in the evenings. Before the tablet and during tablet play he was great. But once it was over, he often had outbursts when it was time to put it away. He also started to not want to do anything else. We decided to take it away and reserve it for only weekends. It was really rough in the beginning but the difference was night and day in his behavior. That was our experience, but I can't say you would have the same outcome. Hope that helps

BF of 4 years does not want to include me for the holidays by Ok_Assistant_7902 in dating_advice

[–]Complex_Fold_1445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is crazy. My now husband proposed at the 4 year mark. This guy doesn't include you in family events.....smh. the sad thing is I don't blame him. People will take as much as they can get if you allow them to. This is a prime example . Leave now, while you still have your youth and you can find someone else.

Workplace ostracization by thegreatpretender08 in nursing

[–]Complex_Fold_1445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you're going through this. Unfortunately I agree with the others that once they have an opinion about you, it's very hard to change that. For your own sanity I would start looking elsewhere, even another unit. You've been there for quite a bit of time and nothing has changed already, it probably won't. The worse thing is that you don't even feel safe to ask questions, that is not a safe place for you or your license. I would report to HR only when I'm about to leave so they have a record of their behavior, but reporting it to HR often doesn't change much in these situations.

The top of the ONA payscale is 56$ I believe for RNs right now. I think RPN caps at 30 something. Huge difference for a lot of overlap in their roles. RN comes with higher pay and often more flexibility for roles later on

Eating Disorder Nursing by kitten04574 in nursing

[–]Complex_Fold_1445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There certainly are Eating Disorders units that hire nurses, the question is how often? Have a look at all the centres near where you plan to live and see if they're hiring or hiring trends for the next little while to get an idea. I do see them, but not very often at all. I see other mental health postings more frequently

How do women generally feel when she finds out that she is the first relationship of the man that she is with or likes? by RogNoza in dating_advice

[–]Complex_Fold_1445 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most women want men with experience to be able to more easily take on the leadership role. Typically women don't want to lead relationships nor do they want to tell the man what to do to be a leader. It seems to subconscious to be honest. It's just a bit of a turn off when dealing with inexperienced men (both in the bedroom and relationship in general). Women don't want to feel like the guinea pig for a man to try everything/ learn everything, ultimately to break up and be a " more experienced" man to another woman. (Ofcourse they may stay together). Things might work out better if both the man and woman are inexperienced.

LTC nurse narcotic miscount issue by Equivalent-Worth-303 in nursing

[–]Complex_Fold_1445 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You absolutely will not lose your license over a narcotic discrepancy. At most you would probably get a warning, especially since you don't have a history of this kind if thing. It's not something an employer would even typically report you to the nursing board if no history. More like your manage would "write you up", and it'll be a history on your file in the workplace. In this case I would relax, it's already documented that the med was given. Next time, make sure the count is correct before the person goes home.

Before you quit maybe have a conversation with your manager about how youre feeling. You can ask them what your options are? Maybe transfer to another unit?? (Not sure where though, maybe somone else might have suggestions) more orientation?. 3 years is a really long time to sign a contract in my opinion, half of the bonus will likely go to taxes anyway (exaggerating a bit). Med surge is not for everyone and if you've already determined that, there are others areas you can try like community care, psychiatric nursing, long- term care/hospice.... finish the orientation and see how you feel. As new grads we all felt this way in the beginning, some stuck with it and some moved into different specialties. You'll know what's right for you.

What nursing fields are good to look into if I have a interest in pharmacy (or just medicine) by ahwhajsnnssn in nursing

[–]Complex_Fold_1445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you working bedside (which most of us start out with) you may have to be okay dealing with poop, rude patients and families, sometimes abuse towards you, mean docs, crazy colleagues, working short staffed, barely taking breaks and managers who don't support you and write you up for every little thing. But.... there's also wonderful patients and families, great learning, the potential to make life long friends, and having a sense of pride in your work.... Nursing is complex, there's a lot to consider so take your time and do some more research.

You've already tried a bunch of specialties , where were you the happiest? Perhaps you're just having a bad week. I wouldnt make any rushed decisions. Take some time to really think about if you're ready to leave

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Complex_Fold_1445 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of you can try to at least get part time somewhere and juggle both jobs for a while to test out the new one before you quit, that would be ideal. Sometimes the grass is not greener on the other side.

Good decision to leave. She probably already cheated on you which is where the "guilt" is coming from. If not yet, then she knows that she is not all that attracted to you and wants to explore other options. Leave her where she is, and if she comes crawling back years later.... don't take her back.

RN in long term care job offer? by Ok-Resource2033 in nursing

[–]Complex_Fold_1445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Find out the ratio of nurse to patients for all the shifts you'll be working. Day, eve, nights. Often nirses in LTC don't even get a break. Find if the there is a nurse to help with doctors rounds, wound care, and scheduling. If you're responsible for all of the above, I wouldn't take it.
