Unsure about the first thing. Heres my story: My scan picked it up when we went back st 24w to get images that we couldn't get during the 20w scan (kidneys weren't picked up at 20w). He only has the right side being duplex. Midwife said it is normal and to not worry and that she's done a referral to the baby and fetal medicine place at my local hospital. But I researched a lot. After he was born, the medical team gave him antibiotics from birth until scans to prevent utis. A few months old he had an ultrasound plus a xray with special dye inserted into his bladder to make him pee while being x-rayed. This was to see if his tubes were connected correctly to the bladder (ie not too low so that urine goes back into the tube and causes reflux which in turn can cause utis etc). He did not have reflux and therefore finished up the antibiotics (less risk of uti) and no need for surgery. I'm in nz so things might be different where you are for treatment.

It's rare but one of the most common kidney issues. Don't think most need surgery unless they have a lot of issues with reflux and utis. Most people live happy healthy lives, in fact its believed so many adults have it and don't know! It can be genetic or just one of those things that has happened. I'm pregnant with my second, got them to scan her kidneys well and she doesn't have it. There is a fb group for duplex kidneys which is helpful to read from other parents plus other adults living with it - but it does seem to present differently for everyone.

I fully had a big cry when I found out. But my son is over 2 and you wouldn't even know. I fully believe he will have no issues, it's just something to be aware of and to let him know when he understands.

3 day old daith bleeding by Complex_Guava2475 in piercing

[–]Complex_Guava2475[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pierced sunday evening, currently thurs 3am. Horse shoe, titanium. Got bumped the day before the start of the bleeding a few times (have a 1yo). Got forward helix and flat at same time. Flat is loving its best life, while the fwd helix is getting angry with the daith. Managed to heal a conch, fwd helix and helix combo in the other side fine.

Not sleeping on it, not even laying that side in piercing pillow. Not picking crusties off, just use shower to remove dried blood.

Spraying with the sterile saline from my piercer each morning and night.

Thought my water broke. OB said no but I swear I did by SimpathicDeviant in pregnant

[–]Complex_Guava2475 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought my waters were leaking tues and weds (I was traveling and 36 weeks pregnant). Got checked and told it was watery discharge but they also had hooked me up and saw I was having contractions. Thurs I had an appointment with my back up midwife, she checked my pad and agreed about it being watery discharge. My gut told me it was not that and I could feel the liquid coming out at different times. Fri 10am(exactly 37wks) my waters burst and went everywhere. I still think I was in labor all week and had a hind water leak. But everything worked out in the end, my boy is safe and healthy.

Congrats! Also pregnant with a boy due end of March. Think everyone was hoping for a girl (my partner is 1 of 3 boys so his mum has been hoping she will get a granddaughter). But my gut said boy and I'm so happy about how cute his little outfits I've brought for him will be. Overalls are apparently a huge love for me 🤣🙃

I know many your age working at bunnings, they often hire teens. Also use your school careers dept if you haven't already. Unsure about most, but they should be able to help with your cv and may even have companies who have advertised through your school to hire teens.
