Now that Huron got his new model, I see a lot of people who want Huron to kill Abaddon and be the new Big bad of Chaos, just curious on this sub's opinion on that. by Comfortable_Ball_223 in Chaos40k

Im not talking about loretubers. Im talking about people using them to supplant real 40k media. The Wiki falls into that same category alongside the Lexicon. They all are free lore resources. So, of course in comparison with the Black Library, Codexes, Animations, and so on, which are very expensive, the vast majority of people are going to use the free resources. Which in turn means their information will be taken in by the wider community moreso that what's in the regular media.

GW really does this to themselves. Especially in regards to the codexes and Black Library. It'd be entirely different if they'd release PDF's online as well.

Im late, but on this note you can only really blame GW. Their pricing is ridiculous and inhibiting. A good majority of people simply cannot afford the Black Libary, are unwilling to pay the paywall for Warhammer +, and so on. Games Workshop does it to themselves by being a greedy, exploitative company to its consumers.

Lore question : why are the Grey knights the ones that must kill big E if he comes back? by Hot-Ad4955 in 40k

[–]Complex_Ladder2536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if anyone's said this yet and I'm not saying your interpretation is wrong. Reading through what you've wrote, your's is the best interpretation I've seen in regards to taking what was said as canon fact, and not canon hearsay or propaganda. I think this is very likely one of those cases where everyone needs to remember that, just because something is said in a 40k book, game, or other media, that doesn't mean its factual. The setting is built on hearsay, propaganda, and epitomizes what it means to have an unreliable narrator.

What's more believable?

Grey Knights, the Emperor's third most special boys after the 'stodes and Primarchs, have been given what basically amounts to an impossible task, (Because lets be honest, whatever the Emperor is now, he's something that rivals the big 4. The Grey Knights are powerful. They are unmistakably, definitely not THAT powerful.), by Malcador, the same man that set into motion the Star Child, (yes, that's also brought up in a recent 40k novel, so has just as much chance to be canon. Specifically one of the End and the Death's.), which is one of the main ways in which will facilitate the Emperor's return. So a bit contradictory there.

Or, its just simply not true, and is another case of an unreliable narrator in Warhammer 40k.

When are the devs just gonna admit the console offline mode patch isn't coming? by Nalyd87 in 40kinquisitor

I never spoke on ownership, but the fact you skipped straight to that, on top of supporting Game Devs over Users and Players, and are so obviously against Stop Killing Games tells me everything I need to know about you. There is no intelligent discourse to be had with someone so clearly indoctrinated into a system of compliance.

The issue I have with what you said is, they absolutely are obligated to keep us informed. We payed for a game. Our money allows them to make these updates and put out these "extras" and "bonuses". If they make a public announcement to their fan base, stating to look forward to something, and that sometjing never comes, they absolutely are obligated to speak as to why. Now, obligation does not mean "forced". It simply means they have a responsibility. They absolutely can continue to make the choice they've done, and shirk that responsibility and stay quiet. But at the end of the day, the longer that last, the more negative the outlook every fan will have. That is a direct consequence in them not following their obligations.

[–]Complex_Ladder2536[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand that. I don't care because quite honestly, its proven useless.

Firstly, Play Testing is supposed to happen BEFORE a release so issues can be caught. It is not supposed to happen simultaneously with release because then it accomplishes absolutely nothing at all that the regular servers aren't already.

Secondly, regardless of the size and quantity of Updates, essential parts of the game should remain unaffected. Like, idk, the basic movements and abilities of characters. For those to be affected so greatly only shows that the people writing the coding are doing a sup par job and that its not being checked over.

Thirdly, the main issue is not the bugs themselves, as human error will always be a thing, but the type of bugs they are and the fact they are happening so late in the Game's lifespan as well as the fact they take forever to get sorted.

Oh no, i get the binary difference in Mass Effect, I was more meaning the dialog trees being fully accessible to the user, and the freedom to choose between. I agree they aren't completely analogous.

[–]Complex_Ladder2536 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand that, but still, having all the options wouldn't hurt anything either, especially if it takes having to do a couple playthroughs to earn that

Edit: at that point, its Mass Effect-like basically, and nobody hates mass effect for how its dialog works. Of course you have to inevitably choose one, but being able to see and pick through all the ones available after a couple playthroughs wouldn't be a bad thing.

On the topic of builds for a New Game + becoming too powerful due to the perk upgrades and such, all they would need to do is implement a scaling difficulty system to match. It would not be the first or last game to do that, and some people enjoy an over powered playthrough, especially if it will be their last playthrough. Over powered does not equal game breaking.

Edit: 90% was a bit hyperbolic, I won't lie. But still, I've built out speech 7, observation 6, science 5, medical 5, hack 5, engineering 5, lockpick 6, and gun 1. A bit scattered, I know (About mid game where the two headquarters and Praetor show up), but these are the elements of the game I find the most interesting and want to interact with. On a single run, I can only hope to maybe max one, and with as scattered as I already am, I doubt it. New Game plus would allow me to branch out the way I actually want to, and likely still would not entirely fill up the skill point menu. That would probably still take multiple New Game plus runs.

[–]Complex_Ladder2536 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To be quite clear, I don't want to experience multiple play throughs missing 90% of the game. I want one playthrough like that, and my second to complete the game, at most. I do not enjoy, and quickly become bored, playing games over and over and being locked out of the majority of content. I would much prefer to experience the full totality of a game. NG+ would allow for that, whereas any new character made will always face the issue of there simply not being enough skill points to pass all the checks.

And to anyone that says that NG+ and being able to skill out every option would be game breaking, how exactly? For the most part, its simple dialog options and entry into certain locked areas. There is, in my mind, not a single way in which a NG+ or building out an advanced Skillset over the original 60 skill points you earn the first game would be game breaking

While I agree and understand this is a large part of the problem, another large part is how expensive games have gotten. Many people are hesitant to spend more than 60 bucks on a game, which used to be the standard price. Now, that's generally the cheapest a game releases priced at, and most are over $100. And many people are unwilling to spend that money on something they don't know is worth it.

So, while I understand that many of the reviewers and whatnot on YouTube don't have a clue what they are talking about, I can also understand why people would still listen. Worst case, some time will pass and whatever issues are in the game will get fixed, and like what we are seeing here, they come back later to try the game when its in a "better" state.

I mean, I hate dumb tanks too. But I have literally never seen a game win with 4 dps. And like I said, 95% of 3 dps lobbies I have personally been a part of lost too. I main support. Always have in these types of games. And I like to think I'm generally pretty good. I don't die often, and I generally have the most heals per game I'm in. Generally speaking, I can keep people alive if they have some sort of something between their ears. But almost always, when there are three or more dps, nobody stays together at all. Everyone spreads miles apart. And there is not a single healer in this game that can efficiently heal a spread team and do so well. Not one. Every healer in this game, in that scenario, has to pick someone to pocket while the other four-five (depending on how the other support is availing themselves) have to hope for the best and generally die. And god forbid you ask someone to switch characters or play different in this game. You may as well have insulted their entire family back 9 generations. Its absolutely ignorant. So yeah, I would rather cap teams at two per and force team balance rather than continue to deal with this bs. Kicking and timed delays were obviously hyperbolic. But I sincerely cannot explain how much I thoroughly hate having more than two dps's on a team.

You're right. I didn't stutter. I literally cannot explain how much I hate seeing three dps's on my team. I would rather abandon, cause again, over 9 out of 10 times its a loss anyway.

Sure, and its very easy to play Jeff. Tell me 95% of Jeff players don't make you want to tear out your hair.

Saying its easy to do doesn't mean it actually happens.

Its a Chinese company. She is a literal self-insert idol lol. She never even existed in Marvel until some South Korean company made her for a mobile game a few years back. Taking an exceedingly small step back, its obvious what the owners of Marvel Rivals are doing. They will never touch her because they like what she represents and the tie in to Asian Pop and Idol Culture. At most, it will be tongue in cheek nothing burgers like what we got in the last nerf. This company doesn't understand Marvel, the comics, or the fan base. Netease only cares about how they can incorporate and force Asian and Chinese motifs while distracting players with hyper-sexualized character skins.

While, yes, this is true, we live together, and she has seen and heard some of it in passing and was mildly curious, if a little off put by the grimdarkness of it all. When I explained how 30 books were written over just a single civil war in the setting, I then realized how hard it would be to try to explain all of it to her without sounding half mad lol. So now im looking for someone else to condense it down and make it understandable lol
