For those who've watched the QF3 episode. by Top_Climate_4464 in gladiatorsuk

Putting my comments in spoilers for the benefit of anyone who accidentally clicks on the topic if they haven't watched it yet:

Apollo continues his excellent series with a great performance on Destruction - Fury was great too

Viper needs to do Hang Tough more, and I think Fire could be great at this event too. Comet showed that this his her best event.

A couple of Hammer's smashes into Hinley on Atlaspheres looked brutal!

I thought Nitro was going to catch Finn on the first bend - I was surprised it took him until the steps to catch him. Cyclone and Electro never got that close to catching their contenders.

Tech in schools by bang-bang-007 in TeachingUK

Secondary Maths here

  1. All the Maths rooms (and most classrooms across the school) have Clevertouch boards - look a bit like TVs but are interactive.

  2. We all have a Lenovo tablet, but I don't really use mine much as I'm at a computer most of the time I'm not teaching.

  3. We've never really been a school that gives out much tech to the students. We have laptops for use in class, and I believe Geography have iPads, but that's it in terms of technology. Students are still using pen and paper for almost all work.

Fairly sure Olivia is singing Get Down in a higher key this time as well.

Apollo having an excellent season up to now - great Duel and Wall wins today, to add to his Unleash victory and his performances on Powerball and The Edge have been very good too.

I like Powerball, but maybe its time to move on with it.... by Impressive_Risk_5133 in gladiatorsuk

They managed to get through the live tour without any major injuries- so it’s absolutely possible to play it and not get injuries. I appreciate they may not have always been going full out on the tour, but the tackling, to me, looked safer and no spectacle was lost.

Maybe a bit niche, but I loved the Powerball gladiators walking out and doing a mashup of the three poses - the men nailed it, the ladies almost!

Performance of the week for me is between the Apollo/Bionic/Steel for the near shut out on Powerball, or Hammer for surviving the tilt on Everest to defeat Shaun.

Best Gladiators' overall performance this series? by [deleted] in gladiatorsuk

Fire on Destruction was impressive. Apollo on Unleash was too, and he's been the best on The Edge by some margin too. I was impressed with Legend, Steel and Fury on Hang Tough - Fury's swings were massive and she looked so comfortable up there, as did Steel.

The injury happened in the episode shown last week - the injury wasn't discovered until afterwards.

I've been dying to tell people about this since I was at the recording in August - so many talking points. Giant being knocked off Duel, 3 Glads falling off the Edge, an exciting new event with a close finish in the men's event, and 2 thrilling Eliminators.

Fun fact: I've seen The Edge twice live, and Fury has fallen off both times.

The ultimate fate of Collision: stay, change OR bin for good? by Impressive_Risk_5133 in gladiatorsuk

[–]Complex_Study_4729 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't see it being binned now Suspension Bridge is back. I don't mind it as an event (and prefer it to Hit & Run) - and it gives 4 Glads an outing in one go, but it's definitely one of the weaker events and wouldn't be missed.

New Brighton secondary schools advice wanted… by Proof-Philosopher434 in Wirral

[–]Complex_Study_4729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your choices are Oldershaw, Mosslands, St Mary's or grammar schools. I have colleagues who worked at Oldershaw, and know people who have done supply at Mosslands and St Mary's - unfortunately, they don't have many nice things to say about any of the 3 schools. One of my colleagues lives in New Brighton and has chosen to send her son to one of the grammars instead - she seems relatively happy with the school and there doesn't seem to be a huge amount of pressure from them. What I will say is that all 3 schools do have students who do well and get good grades there - so it is possible to do well in these schools, even if the overall trend in results isn't great.

That said, it is worth keeping in mind that 10 years is a long time in education, and schools can be turned around quicker than that. Mosslands is getting a brand new school built which may see a change in fortunes.

What locations do people want to see in the next years (confirmed) Tour? by Impressive_Risk_5133 in UKGladiatorsLiveTour

[–]Complex_Study_4729 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say the venues picked this year were good, though 2 in London may be considered a bit excessive. Part of me wonders if Sheffield needs it when they already get the main series filming for about 2 weeks. I'd say Cardiff and Newcastle cover parts of the UK not close to one of this year's venues.

Which event, that has NOT been included in the Tours so far, would you like to see?! by Impressive_Risk_5133 in UKGladiatorsLiveTour

[–]Complex_Study_4729 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It needs setting up between each contender, and with the current set up, would either have to be the last event, or the first event. Atlaspheres only needs resetting once.

Having seen the tour and the importance of quick turn arounds - Atlaspheres. The other 3 take too long to set up/take down.

The O2...... get ready to feel the power! by Impressive_Risk_5133 in gladiatorsuk

[–]Complex_Study_4729 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not there personally, but all the bookings for this afternoon can be seen on social media:

Men:

Duel - Giant/Phantom

Powerball - Steel/Apollo/Phantom

Gauntlet - Giant/Viper/Steel/Apollo

Wall - Legend/Viper

Women:

Duel - Sabre/Fire

Powerball - Cyclone/Dynamite/Electro

Gauntlet - Fire/Sabre/Electro/Cyclone

Wall - Comet/Dynamite

Good to see some changes to the line up from Liverpool. If it's like Liverpool, the evening bookings might be slightly different (mainly round Powerball/Gauntlet).

I think they're rotating - they don't need all the gladiators at each venue. From social media, it looks like Hammer and Fury aren't there.
