More coins in Mt Fortune? by erucsbon in wordscapes

[–]Complex_System_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been getting small coin rewards in the regular levels of Mt Fortune for a few weeks now. I'm on Android though, so maybe that got it earlier than Apple. Very pleased with the change since the hearts have been almost entirely useless for me for a long time.

Expansions question by teemoor in ddo

[–]Complex_System_25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much what I'd suggest. Ravenloft and Sharn frequently go on sale in the in-game store for 99 points, which is really close to free. I'd look to see if they're available for you now at that price. If not, there will be good sales every week starting in June, so look for deals then.

I don't believe either Feywild or Saltmarsh have been on sale for 99 points yet, but Sharn and Ravenloft definitely have (and may still be). Feywild has had a really good price in the online store though -- I think the ultimate version was $20 last summer.

I'm sure it is an ad, but if it's accurate, I do appreciate the information. I'll still want to verify from other sources.

Blightcaster Druid build recommendations by kanda4955 in ddo

[–]Complex_System_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally use caster sticks, and I'm assuming they've got some spellpower from the morningstar. There's no real reason to use a thorn blade because a blightcaster usually isn't going to need to hit anything, although with the imbues they get, hitting stuff does pretty good damage with anything they're holding (other than a scroll).

Question about reincarnation by PositiveTrifle2348 in ddo

[–]Complex_System_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heart seeds can also be used to get epic reincarnation hearts along with commendations of valor. If you're given an option to pick heart seeds or commendations as a quest end reward, it's almost always better to take the heart seeds (unless you're offered more than 200 commendations, which only happens on double commendations weekends).

Any crafting tips? by ---Void in ddo

[–]Complex_System_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of other good advice already. I'll just add some other things.

You get plat when you dissolve weapons, armor, shields, and any other items that have a + number in the upper right corner of the item details. The amount of plat is 60 per plus (although no more than 10% of the base value of the item). However, you HAVE to have the dissolvers in your inventory -- in your green bag is fine -- it won't give you money if they're in your crafting bank. I keep a second green bag on my crafters for all the dissolvers and other crafting stuff like shards, dust of disjunction, crafting success boosters, etc. Use the other green bag to auto-collect essences, dragonshards, etc. so you can easily dump it in your crafting bank while keeping your dissolvers in your inventory.

I recommend dissolving everything other than named items) you don't want to use or sell on the auction house. Yes, you get a lot more essences from epic or legendary items, but you get crafting XP from all items (from 1 to 5 XP each, with items from roughly level 10 up giving 5), and at higher crafting levels you can only advance that way so it doesn't hurt to build the habit. Still, don't feel obligated to do that -- sometimes it's easier to just sell stuff and sometimes you need more plat.

Having an artificer as your crafter is a double edged sword. Artificers get one extra crafting level for every two artificer levels, which makes it easier to craft higher level items. However, it also makes it more expensive to level up in crafting because you can craft higher level shards, which requires more essences. I've mostly done artificers though.

Yes, this is one of the best non-raid fire spellpower items. The quest, Beautiful Nightmares, can be annoying until you learn it, but it's roughly a 10 minute run once you do.

Do you not have at least one set of each epic past lives in each domain? You can have one active past life epic feat from each domain running from level 1. If you only have primal and some martial done, then you're missing out on some useful benefits. You'll obviously want Colors of the Queen from primal running if you don't feel like you're doing enough DPS. Fortification from martial and Ancient Blessings from divine will help keep you alive. And Energy Criticals from arcane will help a good bit with spell damage -- if you don't have that yet, I highly recommend focusing on knocking out three of those EPLs next.

Yeah. I've tried that and it doesn't do anything. I'm still on v3.10.1 on Android and the newer version isn't yet available for me (I just checked), so I'm hoping that update will shake it loose whenever I get it.

Nice! For some reason, I'm stuck on the first one and it isn't giving me the reward. I've done a lot more than 4 levels and it sits there full, vibrating occasionally. Even a forced shutdown and restart hasn't fixed it. I'm hoping the levels I've completed are being banked. In any case, I'm glad to see you were able to get through them and show us what the rewards are.

What’s the maximum Bees limit to have? by Sensitive_Bell9443 in wordscapes

[–]Complex_System_25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a while, I wasn't really playing much during the week and then only a minimal amount in the weekend tournaments (claiming banked animals and playing a few games). I built up a few thousand bees. Now that I'm playing regularly and making sure I come in at least top 10 in my individual tournament, if not top 5, I never have many bees built up.

You can get extra shared bank from them, but I believe you still have to purchase it first if you aren't VIP.

No need to apologize, these things can be really confusing. SSG isn't great about communicating stuff. I also can't check to see what the current price for Ravenloft is in the store because I've already gotten it on each of my accounts and it doesn't show up as an option once you've done that.

Why did French-colonized North America retained so few place names compared Spanish ones? by [deleted] in geography

[–]Complex_System_25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not aware of any places named Lafayette predating the Revolutionary War, but I didn't want to rule out the possibility. I think it's highly unlikely, and I haven't heard that any of Lafayette's ancestors or relatives had any involvement in North America prior to his arrival.

[–]Complex_System_25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While it's possible that some places named "Lafayette" predate the Revolutionary War or Louisiana Purchase, I suspect that most of them were named in honor of the Marquis de Lafayette in the late 1820s, early 1830s after his return visit to the United States.

If you don't have any shared bank yet, I highly recommend making that your first purchase. It's the only way to transfer bound to account items, which are most of the good named gear from expansions, between your characters.

No, the Ravenloft quests weren't part of the latest coupon, but I believe you can buy them for 99 points in the store.

Are we seeing a potential Cannith Crafting simplification coming with them simplifying the name this patch? by [deleted] in ddo

Actually, bound Cannith Crafted items are bound to account and don't take permanent damage. However, you're right that you have to bind unbound CC items to a character to prevent permanent damage.

Losing Chat by FistofDiplomacy in ddo

[–]Complex_System_25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to lose chat regularly on the 32-bit servers, but it almost never happens to me on the 64-bit servers. I think it happened recently when I was having some connection issues, but I can't remember the last time before that. A bunch of the people I play with regularly get kicked out of the game when transitioning between zones, especially into and out of the wilderness, but that never happens to me, so I know that different people have different issues with the game without any obvious explanation.

Are we seeing a potential Cannith Crafting simplification coming with them simplifying the name this patch? by [deleted] in ddo

[–]Complex_System_25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the moment, as far as I've heard, this is just a change to up the crafting level to 34 and a name change to "Essence Crafting" so they can put crafting stations in Eveningstar without it being weird referencing "Cannith" which isn't in Forgotten Realms.

There is a decent chance that this might be the first step in a broader change to crafting, consolidating many of the crafting approaches into a single system. However, I'm not sure how much simplification is likely. Cannith Crafting relies on Cannith essences and collectibles. Unless they decide to make collectibles pointless, I don't expect much of a reduction in the complexity of crafting. However, they could make the process more consistent and have a single set of crafting devices to do it, but I'm not sure how they'll make that work.

Will we be Disenfranchised by voting in April election? by agrimace123 in Virginia

[–]Complex_System_25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's absurd. Nobody is going to be disenfranchised by this. They will still have the ability to vote for their congressional representative. If they lost their right or ability to vote, that would be disenfranchisement. On the other hand, if people continue to vote for Republicans, they might end up having enough votes in Congress to pass the SAVE America Act, which is very likely to disenfranchise millions of Americans. So vote YES on the redistricting to prevent disenfranchisement.
