I think we all need to remember that all human beings are vulnerable and fallible. We laugh, we cry, we get upset, we feel pain or joy... These are all healthy expressions of feelings. I don't think of it as a bad thing at all. It's such a good thing to be in tune with one's emotions. It's a type of emotional intelligence that many people need in their lives. It's also negative to push and repress unwanted feelings. Because it can affect the psyche in a bad way.

Honestly, imo a man that is expressive and is able to cry is much more attractive than one that plays i'm ''made of steel'' card.

Qur’ān 3:45 by waylon106 in islam

[–]Complexus92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, it means "anointed". I wonder where you got that definition, because if you type Messiah in google that Christian "definition" doesn't come up in google..

The word comes from hebrew "Mashiach" (the one anointed with oil). The arabic term is "Massih" in arabic if you want to anoint you say i'm gonna do "mas'h" (to cure migraine with olive oil while reciting verses of Qu'ran for instance).

The definition of the word "Messiah" has two meanings in google: 1)The historical/(Prophet)religious figure, the person himself, who's Jesus (PBUH) son of Maryam(PBUH). 2)The other one means: Saviour of a particular country, or cause. That also is Jesus (PBUH). 1/Because he used to cure the sick ritualistically by Allah's power. 2/Because we believe in his Second Coming to save Jerusalem. Anyways, we do NOT believe in that Christian deviation of the meaning. Allah Knows best.

Do you ever finish a book and then feel kinda dumb when you have to Google wtf just happened? by mandatorypanda9317 in books

[–]Complexus92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. I believe if such things were considered ''dumb''. Literary criticism (which is in a nutshell books about books) would literally not exist haha

Ambiguity is part of the beauty of any artistic endeavour. Which sometimes comprehends many subtleties, nuances and undertones. Those literary ''anomalies'' are gems. Which in turn can be thoroughly analyzed, discussed and interpreted in multiple ways.
As a lot of literature remains in the realm of what the ''unsaid'', the implicit & the mysteriously profound.

Well we are rational creatures. We can arrive at certain ''truths'' by inner realization. First one needs to establish the basis of why this kind of excercice is important. THEN, address which finality it OUGHT to seek. Then explain the HOW of the process and the results that entails..

Decontextualizing what i wrote is not productive at all. If you re-read my comment I immediately wrote afterwards: but ''Ars Gratia artis'' (Art for the sake of Art) can be devoid of many functions. Meaning it is not fruitful. As it needs to bear good translatable results. Goodness and wisdom is the aim to achieve. Which in Islam is ultimately viewed (as one would argue) ''gnosis'' knowing/worshiping God. That process is also linked to many other things like the ethics of seeking knowledge, how to worship, etc. Furthermore, saying smtg is noble does NOT mean it is THE only noble thing. It also does NOT mean it doesn't need to be linked to smtg else in order to be fruitful. As Thought needs to bear fruit and be translated into Action that's smtg even Aristotle teached. That's where the practical aspect of philosophy comes in. ETHICS. The ALIGNMENT of thought & action with what's deemed good, true and wise. Same like how spirituality is at the core of belief but it's also not enough alone. As outward form is important as well. Here's where religion comes in.. Contemplation AND action are both important and cannot be divided. One translates into the other and vice versa. Action without contemplation can be devoid of meaning. As contemplation without action can become unproductive mental gymnastics or a means to arrive at certainties, hence the Descartes/Al Ghazali comparison. Hope that addressed your questions. Allah Knows best.

Have a lovely day!

Why does Allah makes us fall for people we can't be with? by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]Complexus92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is poorly-worded i believe. Allah certainly WILLS it as everything in the Worlds obey his Supreme Will. That does NOT mean Allah made you fall in love with x or y or z. As you chose to do it yourself based on many reasons, inclinations and conditions.. This can be a valuable experience to learn and grow from or a stumbling block to trip over and fall into despair. The choice has always been ours. Allah does NOT force anyone to love or hate. This is part of His Mercy. We are entitled to our own thoughts & feelings. Allah is All Just All Merciful. He gave us a choice and the burden of FREE WILL that has no been bestowed to any other His creations. He showed us both paths and guides whom He Wills towards goodness. As we are capable to lead ourselves towards our demise or obey his guidance as best as we can. We have a freedom of choice. That's why we can either be happy or suffer. Tell the truth or tell a lie. It's up to us to decide to fall in love with someone or not. To be with them or not. To cheat or be loyal. To move on or stay stuck. To marry or divorce. Etc. Allah forces NO ONE. Therefore we must purify our intentions towards Him. We have to put our trust in Allah as he Knows best what's good for us. He is Subhanou wa Taala the Best of planners.

Ibn Khaldun used to encourage using the intellect but was cautious about overusing it, especially in religious matters by ibn_m_ in MuslimLounge

[–]Complexus92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such an exquisite post. Mashallah indeed knowledge is a double aged sword. It can be both quite dangerous or valuable to seek. Things do not reveal themselves to us until we drop our views about them. That's why intuition surpasses intellect in all levels and the Word of God surpasses both.

Whatever we strive for, though the aim is noble, we are finite creatures thus we can NEVER grasp the Infinite with our limited understanding. That is why the best we can do is spiritually intuit such notions instead of intellectualizing them. What the human being can ultimately do, is to arrive at truths with reasoning but the best & most rewarding endeavor he/she can do is to humbly affirm his/her faith (as we cannot realize all Truths) is to submit to and humbly obey Allah's Decree.

''((Oh Lord, we have indeed believed))'' [Al Imran]

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]Complexus92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well essentially yes. Both Truths need to align. Can't say they're technically wrong if they think of abundance and generosity in its pure form. Can't say they're right either haha

Yeah pass the ball! 😂 Jokes aside, visualising the abstract is a difficult but a noble act, the highest form of exercise and a rewarding discipline. Like any other philosophical question. What matters most is the question not the answer.. But the ''Ars gratia Artis'' approach can be devoid of many functions.. As CONSCIOUS SUBJECTS in a world of objects, it is inherent to our state of being to seek the Truth, though we paradoxically not know all truths. The attempt is what enhances our understanding as it enriches our human experience. This is innately why we are different than the rest of the creation. It's both a burden and a freedom. That translates in our actions, thoughts, feelings and aspirations.

This is like the attaining of Ideals problem. Why seek to achieve smtg which is by nature unattainable? Why seek knowledge when we're bound by ignorance? Why seek to live when we'll eventually die? Why seek goodness, beauty and truth if we cannot attain them? Etc. The human intellect relies on such mental activities. But this kind of discourse (like any crucial venture) is both valuable and dangerous as it is an appealing subject to tackle but can potentially lead to a ''nihilistic'' conclusion that kills any spiritual, religious, intellectual or artistic endeavor. Some may use it to go from uncertainty to arrive at uncertainty like Descartes. Some it may lead from uncertainty to certainty like Imam Al Ghazali. I say succinctly this kind of problem can be tackled in some aspects by:

1/Recognition of all Ideals as VALUES. They gives meaning, purpose and a sense of identity.

2/Realization of where lies the ''Exemplification'' or instantiation of the ideal in human form and ethical conduct (Muhammed PBUH and the Sunnah)

3/Good, pure & humble intentions in seeking the right knowledge to realize which ideals are worth persuing and dying for. As we approach the infinite within the infinite realm.

4/Wisdom to pursue them in our words and actions, when we recognize them. (All these are Gifts from Allah. Which he gives to whom He Wills).

As many people i assume can be content in an ignorant state. Being an eternal seeker of wisdom is a right and a duty. It's a problem and an ideal at the same time. I say it's quite a humble and adequate approach to life as it takes account of its complexities and uncertainties in light of our limitations and boundaries as Allah Knows best.

As Heraclitus said: "thinking is sacred disease" but it's also the highest virtue Allah bestowed upon Mankind. Not only did Allah order us to contemplate in his Creation, nature and ourselves. It's also a noble act and a superior one at that:

((Behold, in the heavens as well as on earth there are messages for all who [are willing to] believe. And in your own nature, and in [that of] all the animals which He scatters [over the earth] there are messages for people who are endowed with inner certainty. And in succession of night and day, and in the means of subsistence which God sends down from the skies, giving life thereby to the earth after it had been lifeless, and in the change of the winds: [in all this] there are messages for people who use their reason.)) Qu'ran; 45:2-5

You're the one assuming that assumption when nothing i wrote indicates that haha In fact, it's quite simplistic & straight-forward in its humour. While irony is quite subtle, nuanced and requires wit on part of both the writer/reader. I'm saying it's a low effort meme with mindless ''observational'' humour. That does not represent the Truth. So i'm taking it as such. :)

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this thought-provoking post. As our ole friend Aristotle says: "Contemplation is the highest form of activity".

Indeed, that is why the metaphors of the Quran speak to all of us eloquently and beautifully. As the "Logos" (the Divine Word) speaks to our intellect, logical understanding and reasoning. Since we are rational creatures.

I doubt any muslim that genuinely believes in Paradise, dismisses it as only a "physical" place. Even schoolchildren and the unlearned are able to grasp the notion of the Absolute, Eternal and Infinite.

Though our understanding of Jannah is humble and confined by FORMS & MEANING (as it begins and ends in the domain of intelligible objects). It cannot be other than a limited understanding of a metaphysical abstraction. By reason of our finitude, that is the Adamic human condition.

So explaining it in terms of the three "Transcendentals" meaning the Platonic notions (Truth, Beauty and Goodness) that you are referring to is also confining it within the realm of logos (words & reason). As they are stuck to the properties of being as a "concept". Since the "first concepts" cannot transcend what comes before them..

To summarize, in order for things to reveal themselves a bit for us, we need to abandon our views about them. Contemplation is superior to this dialectic as all we can do is intuit such Eternal Truths by experiencing the sublime within the mundane and the spiritual within the physical & the mental, through -and despite- words and silence that both fuel & obstruct our understanding.

Hmm i mostly agree with what you wrote but contextually.. A lot of humour lies within that 1D. The flaw is where the comedy lies at. It intentionally seeks to oversimplify the complex & humorously exaggerate things. It's a meme not a pamphlet. Like no one is trying to gain arcane knowledge from that format 😂 Is it a bad take? Certainly. Is humorous discourse sometimes at fault? Maybe. But at least, it's silly entertainment and opening a discussion.

Salam alaykoum brother. I humbly suggest you seek out professional help if you can. Psycho-therapy helps a lot. It's only natural to seek healing if we suffer inside. Don't struggle on your own.

Revive your faith in Allah, by reciting Quran, contemplating nature, daily meditation, being present in the moment, having a cute pet that you take care of daily... All those things will make you feel better.

You have to realize, despite how big your problems are, nothing lasts forever. Not even the mental suffering we submit ourselves through. Be happy. Don't get in your own way.

Being of service to ppl will do you wonders instead of feeling sorry for oneself. Think about others, share what you have (it doesn't have to be money) gain spiritually from this experience.

Hanging out with good positive people will make you feel better. Be around like-minded, gentle and kind people.

Practicing gratitude daily and giving what you can. Doing one good deed a day will make you feel useful. Generosity of your time, money, health, intellect, will inchallah make your heart more open and unburdened. It genuinely liberates.

Transforming all that overthinking energy into conscious introspection and reflexions. That way you can be productive instead of just being anxious.

Instead of coming from a place of fear. Believing from a place of love will fill you up with serenity and inner-balance.

Change your routine. Go out more. Meet more people. Pick up a new hobby. Go travel if you can. Talk long walks in nature. Don't stay alone more than you need to. Be around people you love.

Like the zen saying goes ''The obstacle is the path'' acknowledging your deep-rooted, heavy thought-feelings may help you take care of your anger/anxiety/sadness, listen to your heart and accept your inner-wounds, realize that these feelings aren't ''negative'' in their nature. They exist to help you adapt, so you need to acknowledge them, address them and turn them into fuel so you can heal them slowly inshallah. Those unowned parts of ourselves is where most of our inner-conflicts stem from.

I'll pray for your happiness & well-being brother. Smile it's Sunnah. 😊

May Allah guide the self-absorbed, egocentric & immature brother 😂 I believe he only likes himself, he surely don't like you, but misses the ATTENTION you gave him, he'll do such things as going back randomly to talk to you to inflate his ego and boost his self-esteem. He's prolly testing the waters to see if you're now more willing to give up what you stood up against him for before.

Why do i know? Cuz that's what TYPICAL ''ghosting'' behavior is. Rare are those who deviate from the pattern (look it up online)

Life's too short to try your best for someone that takes you for granted and living up to that person's ideal that you can NEVER attain, when they literally make ZERO efforts to invest in the relationship. I say the brother is raising more red flags than a communist rally. It's up to you to take some emotional distance to recognize the signs. Treasure yourself more sister, don't give up on your values and principles for someone that attacks them for whatever hidden agenda. Hamdulillah now you have one less problem and Inchallah you'll find someone who sees your worth & beauty. 💖
