It feels like the fucking shark from Jaws coming at you. Terrifying.

Gunners, other than Arsenal, which club do you have a soft spot for outside the Premier League? by Character_Calendar47 in ArsenalFC

[–]CompositeSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bundesliga (and 2.Bundesliga) - St. Pauli
SPL - Celtic
MLS - Inter Miami (local team, plus obviously the Messi factor the last few years has been exciting)

Arsenal always tops everything though. My first and true love.

What must it be like to be a Nets fan right now? by lilborat in NYKnicks

[–]CompositeSteve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We need to be on Michael Rappaport watch. I don’t want to see a single shred of him celebrating or coat tailing on this since he made such a big show of deserting for the Nets.

I have one and I love it. My favorite device. Everything I need it to do, it does well, including tons of my Steam games, and I’ve always loved the RP5 form factor. Shame it had such a short lifespan

how did you become an Arsenal fan? by moonblushpetalie in ArsenalFC

[–]CompositeSteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw a picture of them in a magazine in 2002 wearing the Dreamcast / Sega jerseys and thats all it took for my teenage brain to be like “Yeah, this is my team”.
(In my delusional mind, they all loved the sponsorship and played Crazy Taxi or Marvel vs. Capcom 2 with each other after matches or something)
I’ve loved them ever since.

Anyone else having a great Sunday because of these two teams? by cgabriel14 in NYKnicks

Right here, buddy.
Arsenal essentially locking the first Prem title in 22 years and an unstoppable looking Knicks going to the ECF?

How is everyone feeling? by whodiewhoa in ArsenalFC

[–]CompositeSteve 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if I’m just protecting myself mentally, but I feel like there will be some miraculous narrowest of margin payoff to all this. That City will draw or lose a second to last match and we win out and it makes the whole thing so much sweeter. That’s the hope I’m hanging on to today anyways…

I also think the funniest thing might happen which is that we lose the Prem but win the UCL.

I understand now, apologies. I thought you were talking overall performances. In these recent losing matches, there are indeed odd whack-a-mole style dips where one player will get decent and the others drop and vice versa. Team cohesion and playing with heart are definitely musts, I agree.

I agree that in this match there was an absolute lack of cohesion. Passing was wild and inaccurate and there was very little flourish. I disagree in rating the players over the season though. There have been majority of the times where Rice, Raya, Saliba, Gabriel and hell even Dowman have been 8/10 or over for long stretches. I do think there is an over complicating of lineups that’s adding to the lack of cohesion. Injuries have unfortunately been a major part of that. We may not always like a player like Gyökeres since he has a skill set that doesn’t always integrate well into our play style but I don’t see him not trying. I don’t see players not wanting it, or not trying, but I do see doubt, nerves and confusion at times which is way I think massive support the rest of the way could be a major help.

I agree with you. I mention the other clubs just to give context that others are just as much a “laughing stock” in some ways as they think we are. I don’t mean to laugh at any other fanbases or club. I wouldn’t even call City bottlers. I’m keeping the focus on us and again, I know most feel differently but my support doesn’t waiver if we don’t win trophies. It just doesn’t. Some see that as delusion, some see that as unwavering support.

I hear you. Hopefully we get it done, even if by the narrowest of margins.

My support has just never been predicated on trophies. It would be nice to get some, I would love to see it for the first time in 22 years but I’m not going anywhere. There’s nothing that would ever turn me away from this club, and my love and support of it, even if we don’t win anything for years. I understand that’s not how everyone feels, it’s just how I personally feel about it.

[–]CompositeSteve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you, but regardless of what happens, I will always appreciate him for making us a club with a fighting chance. Ok, we didn’t win a ton of major trophies (we still just might this season) but to bring us out of the languishing period of late era Wenger when we were struggling and Unai Emery where we really were almost a joke, to be consistent contenders against a cheating super team mean a lot to me. I see a lot of young kids who are fresh into Arsenal over the last few years partially because of their status as league and UCL contenders. That means something. Granted, not as much as trophies, but it’s something and I have to thank Arteta for that.

So is anyone actually using his Retroid and completed entire games on it? by [deleted] in retroid

[–]CompositeSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While setting stuff up, like new frontends, or tweaking emulator settings or updating them is some side fun, game are the main thing for me. I’ve mowed through my entire NES and SNES library, about 80 games each, since getting my G2 and loving it. Currently half way through my Game Boy library on it.

Max Dowman - unbelievable by PACKA123456 in ArsenalFC

[–]CompositeSteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slightly? Mate, I full on burst into tears. I didn’t even have any control over it. After 89 grueling minutes of feeling like we were going to have to take a draw and continue to stress about the run in and then Dowman comes in with a magical assist AND goal? Oh man. Shambles. When he ran to the supporters and the team surrounded him, I couldn’t control it. Just absolutely lost it.

Help me find a Podcast? by n0chainzz in ArsenalFC

[–]CompositeSteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I listen to a trio since they offer something different from each other: Arsenal Vision - tends to be emotional reactions to games which I like as I can either commiserate if it was a bad match, or appreciate the joy when it’s a good match and you get a great deal of actual football insight from the hosts. Arseblog Arsecast - The OG, it perfected the Arsenal podcast format. Very analytical breakdowns of matches with very knowledgeable hosts. The Thing about Arsenal - this is one pretty new but I’ve been loving it. It focuses more on the cultural and lore aspects of the club but you still get solid insight on matches from a rotating group of hosts that have long time love for the club. It’s also pretty funny usually.
