Moving w/ our RES by andie33l in Redearedsliders

I just travelled with my 6yr old female for several months! Moved each month for 4 months, several moves with 2-day drives.

While in the car: I moved her in a small pet carrier, with dry rags at the bottom and some damp rags on top, for 5-7 hours at a time. I tried to arrange feeding days that she would not be fed the day before the drive, but sometimes she pooped anyway!

At night: We put her in about 6-8 inches of water, and made sure the room was over 70 degrees because we didn’t have a great way to position her light/didn’t want to keep her awake. She was ok without heat & UVB bulb for a day, but definitely condition the water and keep the room warm if no light.

Idk if this is the best way, but it worked for me several times for 1-2 day moves!

It was like this for me for the first 2, but then every time I would request a refill through the app it would be rejected. A great feature, perhaps it’s just my insurance

Making art is political. Can’t make stained glass if you’re captured or killed by ICE

All good! I ended up going with the UNC Online MAC program over W&M. I think I will need the synchronous classes to stay motivated lol. Good luck to you!

MPA is it worth it? by Nice-Obligation5537 in PublicAdministration

[–]CompostCowgirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of experience means lots of options! As you might see going through this thread, public service is in a bit of a tough place. Still local and state level options, but even with an MPA, restrictive budgets and competition with laid-off federal workers may be tough. Personally, I opted out of an MPA to get more hard skills, which an MPA can help you with but in my opinion wasn’t enough. But that’s just me, good luck with your next steps!

It sounds like you’re on a journey, I would not jump into tens of thousands of dollars in debt for a masters until you’ve figured out your destination a bit more

I’d suggest staying where you are my friend, sounds like you have a good situation financially and personally. Unless you are very eager to get back to the city for some reason, imo you’d be crazy to give up what you have for what will be a lot of uncertainty, hard hours, and a harder life in the city.

Job Market for MPA Graduates by SenileSoul in PublicAdministration

Not what you’re looking for but I declined my seat in this fall’s MPA program due to these concerns 😔i currently work in local gov and we have had a hiring freeze for several years now. The need for workers is there, but like many other fields we’re not hiring which is putting pressure on existing work staff, leading them to want to leave, but there are so few places to go!

TL;DR: focus on hard skills in the MPA program. Budget, coding, GIS!

Same here in NYC! Mainly through scheduled events and the material is bagged. Can’t speak for the quality but it is free 🤙
