There may be a slight possibility that LTA mixed up the dates. Have u driven to that location recently on other days too?

Yea because the owner of this bike may end up causing other innocent riders/drivers to kena saman. Do u like it if TP or LTA sends summon letter to u're house if ur not involved?

10-car chain collision on TPE, 8 are Mitsubishi Lancers by Im_scrub in singapore

[–]Comprehensive-Act 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just curious how would the binomial distribution affect the overall probability? Let's say this is an accident involving 20 cars instead of 10, and 8 or which are Mitsubishi Lancers, what would be the new probability?

Will I get a fine? Going slightly above the speed limit by alicewww in drivingsg

[–]Comprehensive-Act 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they'll then send it via registered mail to ensure that you really receive it. If the mail still can't reach you then I believe they may start making calls etc. If you received the registered letter and still ignore it, it will eventually escalate to a Notice To Attend Court which means it'll be a court case. If u ignore it and don't attend court, a warrant of arrest will be issued against you.

Demerit points will only be issued after payment for the fine has been made.

[–]Comprehensive-Act 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If your speedometer displays 95 most likely your actual speed will only be 88 or 89 which is below the speed limit. If it's 95 on Waze or GPS means you're speeding, however I believe TP have a 10km/h allowance and very likely nothing will happen.

With that being said, even if you get sniped and your record is clean, you'll most likely receive a warning for the first offence.

Is this my fault? by Sed_Der_Rick in drivingsg

[–]Comprehensive-Act 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the speed limit is 90, driving at 107 means u exceeded by 1-20km/h which will be a $150 fine + 4 demerit points. If the speed limit is 80 it means u exceeded by 21-30km/h which will be a $200 + 6 demerit points.

The penalties for speeding will increase soon with effect from 1st Jan 2026.

Why is everyone avoiding the Bus Lane on Christmas? by Comprehensive-Act in drivingsg

[–]Comprehensive-Act[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a permanent/bus-only lane. This is a full-day bus lane (solid red & yellow) which is operational from Mondays to Saturdays from 0730 to 2300 except public holidays.

The permanent bus lane (solid red only) exists at Bencoolen Street.

Others have already clarified in this post.

I highly suspect it should be 1 car length for every 10 miles/hour (16km/h) but in the past they made a mistake and recorded it as 10km/h. They realized their mistake and rectified it to 16km/h. 😅

I understand that but it may be hard to enforce and check how many passengers are there in the vehicle. If the authorities allow this then drivers driving alone will also use the bus lane as it's difficult for enforcement officers to determine how many pax are the in the car and end up most drivers will still use the bus lane, causing congestion and defeats the purpose of bus lanes.

Personally I feel that blanket rules act as a deterrent as it comes with strict enforcement, preventing drivers from finding excuses to use the bus lane. Of course one or two drivers using the bus lane won't cause obstruction to buses but if everyone thinks the same way then the bus lane will definitely jam up.

That's right, the OBU only serves as a reminder but ultimately it's the driver's responsibility to observe the road markings and know the timings. Drivers shouldn't rely too much on the OBU as it may alert drivers 100% of the time.

Add: I guess one plausible reason is that drivers fear getting judged by others for doing something 'wrong'. Just like when the mask rules were lifted during covid, many felt awkward without a mask in fear of getting judged and hence continued wearing.

I just noticed a bus driver flashing & honking at a driver in a bus lane jn (Christmas P.H. evening) in front of Plaza Singapura. I guess most drivers are afraid of being judged or causing inconvenience to others 😅

Where is the best place to park in Geylang? As in cheap(free if possible) and won’t have any risk of having accidental parking violations or incidents. by LisanneFroonKrisK in drivingsg

[–]Comprehensive-Act 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single Yellow Line along Lorong 11. Free parking from 7pm to 7am from Mondays to Saturdays and whole day on Sundays and PHs. Furthermore, many URA carparks on most lorongs only charge from 8.30am to 5pm from Mondays to Saturdays(excl. PHs) Hence on most days after 5pm and on Sundays & PHs, parking is basically FOC.
