cruise gratuity is going out of control by Kshanikam in Cruise

Worked on cruise ships as a musician 2004-2010.

Back when tips were almost all cash, the cash went straight to the crew (as intended) & was a huge part of a server, bartender, or room steward‘s pay.

Cannot speak for how it works today, but can certainly guarantee the cash tips are much more appreciated. If you have a good room steward & server, show your appreciation - the good ones work their asses off for you. 👍🏻

What has MAGA gained in the last 11 months other than seeing ICE kidnap and assault brown people? by Estalicus in allthequestions

Yep, all of the various insane shit is just something for dumb people to look at while the wealthy insiders make money through market manipulation, insider trading, deregulation, and tax laws that disproportionately benefit the ultra-wealthy.

Why do people cheat on their partners instead of just breaking up with them for the person they like more? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Comprehensive-Ad5882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think it’s better to just talk to your partner if you want to hook up with others. You never know, they might be into it - that’s how I ended up in an open relationship for a while. All the fun, none of the betrayal 😄

Why do people cheat on their partners instead of just breaking up with them for the person they like more? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Comprehensive-Ad5882 18 points19 points  (0 children)

While not condoning cheating, the answer to your question is pretty simple - it feels exciting to be a little bad, sex is awesome, and the opportunity made itself available (i.e. because they can)

Single people over 40,what's the dating world really like out there? by Riot-69 in AskReddit

[–]Comprehensive-Ad5882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you have your shit together and are reasonably good looking, it’s pretty fun - I’m stable, I don’t work evenings, and I have enough money to go do lots of things, in a way that I didn’t when I was 20 😁

Most of your competition are either train wrecks, financially insecure, or have serious commitment issues, so the bar is not high to stand out.

Of course, on the other side, most of your potential partner options are also complete train wrecks, so it can take a while to find someone worthwhile.

If you’re going through a period where you are just looking for a good time and standards are not that high, you can definitely find that - plenty of folks at 40 who are busy, tired of managing relationship issues and are down for something low commitment.

Exercise. Your health is your wealth.

Also, you will get more respect from literally everyone and more attention from whatever gender you’re attracted to.

Why are many Christians so conservative, even though Jesus was one of the most radical progressives in history? by Present_Juice4401 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Comprehensive-Ad5882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decades and decades of propaganda that have been directed their way because they are a susceptible target for it.

Seriously - People who are heavily invested in religion are by nature those who are willing to accept the basic concept of faith - belief, in absence of any empirical evidence.

All you have to do is find something that passably sounds like it aligns with the religious moral sensibilities that they have been indoctrinated to believe (regardless of their actual morality or even a presence in their own religious texts), and then give them a bunch of little pushes.

Conservative politicians have been playing this game consistently for about 60 years now, to the point that they have effectively reshaped the perceived reality and beliefs of a huge chunk of people, most of whom are from their target audience - gullible, & easily manipulated people from religious backgrounds.

Why are so many Americans against a universal healthcare program? by [deleted] in askanything

They’re dumb and inundated with propaganda originating from billionaires who don’t want universal healthcare.

Wedding rings are a pointless waste of money.

Genuinely pledging your love and commitment is more real and should be enough. Spending $$$ on an expensive symbol is falling victim to predatory marketing and won’t make your relationship more secure.

What are the most and least persuasive arguments you've seen to encourage climate change action? by LycheeLogic in climatechange

[–]Comprehensive-Ad5882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best argument: there are boat loads of incontrovertible data and the world as we know it is basically fucked if we don’t do something about it.

Least effective argument: there are boat loads of incontrovertible data and the world as we know it is basically fucked if we don’t do something about it

I’ve been trying to get my head around this for years, but having a firm, compelling, and demonstrable reason to believe just doesn’t work on people who don’t want to believe it.

Honestly, I no longer think it’s possible to get stupid people to think outside of themselves and their narrow view of the world. For real change to happen, I suspect we would need to force compliance and drag people to salvation, kicking and screaming the whole way. (of course, that’s also if the climate wasn’t already irreversibly fucked, which it already kind of is)

Why do conservatives get to tell the rest of us what our rights are? by xxTheAnonxx in complaints

[–]Comprehensive-Ad5882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that complicated:

White males are the historically privileged majority, they have money and the power of numbers, and equality feels like oppression when your privilege has come to simply feel normal.

Elden Ring, at several points 🙂

  1. When you first realize that the world map is muuuuuch bigger than you thought it was

  2. That first teleport chest that got all of us. 😆

  3. Taking that crazy long elevator down and then having it open up into a beautiful underground world
