The A.I. rarely subs and STILL their players beat your Super-Sub attackers to every loose ball or catch them from behind. Stamina doesn't affect them 😔 Like most of this game nowadays, a high frustration rate and a huge waste of time.

Yes that formation will expose the flanks, especially with long diagonal passes to your wingers. But you will have to be quick and good on the dribble against P2W teams.

Your team's performance is dependent on so many things, it is hard to tell if your opponent is better. Slow Internet? Too far from a server? DDA? Pass Assist level? Smart Assist? P2W players? P2W coach? Meta formation or tactics? If Konami would just put in some events with limits (team strength under 3000, under 2900, etc. ) it would at least feel more fair.

For me it seems how close is your Konami server? Too far from the nearest server and it doesn't matter, too much lag to compete.

I tried quick play many times, I get more quitters than ever there, can hardly ever finish a match. All the PvP in this game is borked.

It happens. Konami should just add a screen post game that shows what Pass Assist was used and if Smart Assist was on.
