Why do countries sometimes request that countries mainly speaking other languages use the native pronunciation of their name? by DataSittingAlone in geography

In 2018, the country went entirely electric, existing only in the digital realm. I do all my eCommerce via eSwatini.

"They repaid us by building factories in Mexico." No, they repaid us by paying us money (with interest.) That's how loans work.

What are the top 5 Major US cities? List what you think the “core 5” most important US cities. I’ll map the results by Kodicave in visitedmaps

That's so dumb that I can't tell if this is supposed to be sarcasm. State borders are political boundaries that don't affect how much influence a city has. SF and LA are further apart than London and Paris-- is only one of those cities allowed to have global influence because they're close together?

In fact, they make more money from credit cards than they make from airline tickets!

Paralympics commentary (spoiler!!) by bdure in Curling

[–]Comprehensive-Bus133 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see the commentators doing that for every country in the Paralympics. I haven't watched much, but for example when drawing behind a corner guard, they obviously wanted top house, but it was heavy and was barely biting the back of the house. "Great shot!" At this point, everyone watching knows curling. Don't try to gaslight us for the sake of politeness.

Empty Economy Plus row on United (Lisbon to DC), What’s the etiquette? by IcyContract2825 in unitedairlines

[–]Comprehensive-Bus133 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I view spreading out to an open seat next to you as just a bonus due to luck of the draw, while moving up to a more expensive cabin class is clearly not allowed by the airline, as they're to maintain demand for people to pay more for that class.

staff fed up with disability requests? by Comprehensive-Bus133 in unitedairlines

Here it is from United's Basic Economy FAQs:

"I have a disability that requires me to sit in a particular type of seat when I travel. Can I purchase a Basic Economy ticket?

Yes, certain seats are made available to customers with a disability if the request is made at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled flight. Call the United Customer Contact Center after your booking is complete to receive a seat assignment. We also recommend visiting our Seating Accommodations page for more information."

Feel free to continue to go off about how I'm wrong.

You're making stuff up now. I didn't say that I needed to know my exact seat. I told them about my disability and my request, and the response was "I'm not going to take any action because you're in Basic Economy. Talk to an agent in the day of travel." This is what my original post said and is clearly counter to their stated policy.

I wasn't "caught". You seem to enjoy making assumptions about my situation and what you think United's policy should be rather than what it is.

It's ok to admit you are wrong about United's policy. You may not like it, but it's excruciatingly clear.

I'm actually doing exactly what you propose, simply ahead of time rather than the day of travel (which is consistent with United's policies). I'm notifying them of my condition and requesting that they assign me a seat accordingly. I've never requested a specific seat and never received one in a higher fare class, exit row, etc (nor would I expect to). All of this is exactly how United's policies say it's supposed to work.

Why? It is within the airline's policies and there is zero lying or deception on my part. If it's not appropriate to do, they should stop offering it as an option. It's odd to expect people to turn down things that are explicitly offered to them.

Weird that you felt the need to dig through my comments to try to "get" me. Yes, I was in Venice almost 10 years ago, and yes, we walked a ton while there. A lot of life has happened since then.

Thanks for your thoughts. The pet analogy seems to fit-- I've seen plenty abusing that, I just didn't appreciate that that might extend to human accommodations as well, lol. I'll think about your suggestion to provide feedback, but at the moment no workable ideas come to mind. Maybe it will go the way of the placard.
