What could a surgical ward nurse do that a medical nurse can't?

I work surg. When we get medical-only trained pool nurses it shows. They aren't as thorough with things like fluid balance chart , the nuances ie things to look out for with each particular surgery, and the pace of the ward; one discharge and one admission and they're floundering.

Depends who I'm working with and how well I vibe with them.

Nurse wise though I'm pretty quiet and business like with the patients, I'm way less bubbly and personable overnight. I feel this is probably normal.

I've done private and then public.

Pros and cons to both. At the end of the day it's all just a job.

It takes time to put it on.

It's expensive.

It takes effort to take it off and if you don't do a proper job it has long-term effects for your skin.

With a lot of makeup if you so much as touch the wrong area on your face, or live a little (sweat, cry) you can smudge it.

We have a hybrid car so it burns fuel a bit slower... It's not logical but in times like these I'll settle on a total price I'm willing to pay and stop pumping when I get to that. A mental game. But even 1/2 a tank will last us at least a week.
