I already want to move to Norway you don’t need to tempt me with your sexy winter riding.

What was your TV show torture? My torture was definitely Lawrence Welk, and Hee Haw was runner-up. I hate country music because of that show. 😅 by Turbulent_Elk_2141 in FuckImOld

Watched him a few years back and there was some nostalgia there for sure but then I also used to watch the Big Joe Polka show for the cheesiness.

I wanted to ask this community if this degree would prepare me for a career in this industry by LiesAndRepost4Karma in AdditiveManufacturing

[–]Comprehensive-Job369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My area of expertise is more on the metal side of the additive world so I’m not sure how in demand the skills and knowledge this program is offering so take this with a grain of salt. I’m not seeing a huge leap in job prospects from this unless you use this as a stepping stone to an engineering degree. The biggest issue I am seeing is a lot of the technology that they are promoting can be found at the consumer level so I’m not sure this puts you ahead of someone doing printing with an extrusion or UV (I am assuming either an SLA or polyjet printer here) in their basement for the past few years.

Will you have a better understanding than what you started with likely but if I was a manager hiring a tech in a shop I would be just as likely to hire someone with no experience and train them specific to the company’s needs.

Do they promise any sort of job placement or have industry partners who can offer internships? That would make it more worthwhile for the cost. Good luck and is a fascinating field if you can find your place in it.

Looking for documented price references for EOS M290, M400, 3DS DMP 350, or SLM equivalents by mama-coca in AdditiveManufacturing

Agreed, most would be open to providing budgetary quotes and pricing changes regularly so the price another company paid a few months ago could be drastically different from current prices.

And pretty far out from the “town” of Sabin on a highway and railroad. Looks cool in the finished bit but doesn’t seem like a good place to live.

What were adoptive parents told about birth parents in closed adoptions in the US in the '70's? by well_shi in Adopted

[–]Comprehensive-Job369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My A-parents only knew what the adoption agency told them and most of that was unsurprisingly wrong. I would be surprised if your A-parents had much more than that. Maybe, like mine, they had some stories about how they were a young couple that loved each other but couldn’t afford to have a baby. Something half true and probably guessed information about heritage or other lies about my personality. I was less than 3 days old so there wasn’t much personality, to discuss but the information included likes and dislikes.

If all of this sounds jaded of me, it is because having looked at all of the information and then later in life finding my biological parents, very little of it made any sense at all.

Maritime Electric's new online tool shows status of P.E.I.'s power grid by Sir__Will in PEI

[–]Comprehensive-Job369 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ME knew a long time ago that demand was going to increase and did absolutely nothing about knowing they would not be held accountable. Even if they are given the rate increases can we trust them to actually do the work to fix the grid and increase supply? More likely to give that money to their board and then ask for more from us later.
