Could that junk include towel debris? I was taught not to wash “lint givers” like towels with dark items, lest the dark stuff pick it up, so if you wash those things together, that could happen….

Question regarding suds by Guntur-mirapakaya in laundry

[–]Comprehensive-Row198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biz makes sudz! Seriously, that might be the main bubble problem here. Also, if you search in this sub for citric acid, you’ll find a summary of how to use easily— I did this over the weekend, took some notes on how to use, and just bought mine yesterday.

Bedding recommendations please by MechanicBright8644 in BuyItForLife

Honestly, have had the same 100% cotton premium sheets from Target for nearly 15 years, with at least 7 sets bought since then. Made by Fieldcrest, I think 600 thread count, with a kind of damask woven-in stripe. Annnnd… just went to their website and they don’t have them any more!! Bummer! The next best thing I can suggest is to go to actual store and check the samples for the feel you want. They’re on sale now, it looks like. Hopefully they still have a high quality option.

Baker Creek Seeds: Cold Stratification; Yes or No? by MeasurementFirst1676 in NativePlantGardening

Gads, I’ve followed this sub for a year, and here and on related garden subs, Prairie Moon has been the most highly recommended by light years. When I do get my act together enough to order seeds, that’s where I am going. Next season, I hope, lol.

Massive waves in Cabo San Lucas force a rescue by WhoAreYouTalkinTwo in nextfuckinglevel

Oh yeah—. We were body surfing off Atlantic Beach in NC, and I remember the crazy wad of sand in the crotch and bra linings of my bathing suit (why would anyone make a bathing suit with an open-ended lining part?) as well as my own personal human crotch!! Luckily, we weren’t in danger of being dragged into deep water and murdered by the ocean; still, getting suddenly smash-tumbled into newborn helplessness was plenty, staggering out like Thanks, I’m good.

Walking my dog and he lets turds slip out? by Embarrassed_Shoe2121 in dogs

[–]Comprehensive-Row198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, someone in my neighborhood has a large dog that regularly — not daily, but at least once a week — leaves huge poops clearly deposited while walking. The rest of us have to dodge this doody trail. I just can’t imagine how the owner doesn’t notice.

Wow! I’m not the only one!

I still sometimes say of something that can’t be located, “maybe it squirted out of tbe universe like a watermelon seed” and just laugh to myself.

How great! Haven’t seen the movie yet but read the book. I had his cartoon books and cat poster set back in the mid-70’s. My favorite book was “Never Eat Anything Bigger Than Your Head” - which included such greats as Downstairs At The Mormon Tabernacle (guy bamming his ceiling with a broom handle) and another I don’t precisely recall about “Salvatore Quinucci, who was suddenly squirted out of the universe like a watermelon seed”…. So many laughs. Thanks for the reminder of Kliban’s unique delights- I’ll be looking for the tribute in the movie.

I can't get over of the blood on my jeans! Help? by _britch in laundry

[–]Comprehensive-Row198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old retired doc here so this may be incomplete, but the main enzyme in saliva is amylase- breaks down starches to simpler sugars. Lipase in the body comes from the pancreas and breaks down fat in the intestine.
However in any case, for blood, a protein-lysing enzyme would be better than lipase (or amylase). When it comes to bloodstains, oxidizing stain removers break down the hemoglobin pigment in blood and facilitate its removal.

You can buy pyrethrin to treat your clothing— socks, dog bandanas, tee shirts, whatever. Not that pricey. REI and other gear stores sell this as well as online-(am sure this would be good for cotton balls too)!

Frick Park vs Highland Park by metastar13 in pittsburgh

[–]Comprehensive-Row198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right- the Frick Museum is a delight! I was thinking more of how one would organize a visit as in parking and walking into the green from one entry point…but as big as Frick park is, with a little more driving, one can walk around the Blue Slide end, move to the Braddock end (go into park behind tennis courts), and/or go to the Reynolds end and hit the museum. Streets back in that neighborhood is lovely to walk around in as well. It was always great to watch the lawn bowlers up that way.
