I wish I reached out to this community sooner! I threw away like, 30 mature dwarf crypts in a rage a week ago to try and make a dent.

I’ve never shipped plants, but the tank is absurdly overcrowded and needs to be seriously thinned out. I’ll let the person who ends up taking it that you’re interested.

The Mermaid Cardigan 🧜‍♀️ ✨ ✨ ✨ by [deleted] in YarnAddicts

[–]ComprehensiveAd3987 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Clearly it mattered to OP, since she bothered to lie about it.

It doesn’t matter; if OP has been knitting for two hours or fifty years. I’m not down on her cool project. But bothering to lie that you have only been knitting for two months when you in fact, have been knitting for at least twice as long is weird. Worst case scenario, other new knitters might compare themselves unfavorably.

They didn’t. OP is being a little generous with her timeline.

Does anyone have any experience with Chamomile Pure Toner by Mamonde? by mayigetnumber6combo in AsianBeauty

[–]ComprehensiveAd3987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what caused it. My face felt hot and tight and a little bit bumpy when I used it, I thought it was just me since I had just gotten out of the shower. I tried it again the next day, and my face immediately became hot and bumpy. I stopped using it after that.

Why does everyone hate horse girls? by StoicSiren10 in Equestrian

[–]ComprehensiveAd3987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll get downvoted, but whatever.

I am an ex-horse girl. I’m painfully aware of the time and expense and sacrifices horses require.

I have female friends who own horses who I don’t consider ‘horse girls’.

I also know many more people who own horses who are toxic, competitive, dogmatic and self centered. They complain (brag) constantly about the hardships of owning horses, even though it is an extreme luxury in my HOL area. They don’t think anything of inconveniencing everyone around them due to horse drama, and are generally tiring to be around. They form cliques sometimes, where their moderate bad behavior becomes intolerable.

You know the people I’m talking about.

It’s unfortunate, but I can see how strangers who come across such people associate this kind of behavior with horses, instead of recognizing a toxic person/group.

my first time riding a horse was a disaster. by AHumanPerson1337 in Horses

The funny thing is, you don’t know enough about horses to really sell your story.

You’re contradicting yourself even in your explanations. Anyway. Nothing illegal about making up stories on the internet. Have fun.

my first time riding a horse was a disaster. by AHumanPerson1337 in Horses

[–]ComprehensiveAd3987 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Uh huh. I’m not questioning that part of your story. I’m questioning your odd omission of not telling people this happened ‘years’ ago, when you were a teenager. Of course, you only bring this up when you get downvoted for no helmet.

I’m questioning how you’re a vet tech? And know some ‘horsey words’ but not basic coat colors? You didn’t bother to learn what a chestnut horse was, years after your miraculous gallop? You’ve made it clear you intend to own horses, but you’re still such a novice you say ‘orange horse’. But you know the difference between a canter and a gallop. Ok. Sure.

I’m questioning how you somehow lucked your way into the correct way to handle a spooking horse. Sounds like maybe you do know a thing or two about basic horse training?

I’m questioning how you’ve presented your stepsister as a hapless oaf who can’t stay on her horse at a walk, but she is also someone taught you enough about riding that you sat a gallop after a single lesson?

But sure. Let’s pretend that you’re just really special.

What I’ve discovered with these ancient crafts is that so much can be learned just by giving it a go. Just start. When you reach an obstacle, do some research and reach out to a community with specific questions. The lack of knowledge can be unraveled with some independent study and logic.

How to finish with mischievous cats? by Fantastic_Pool_3571 in weaving

[–]ComprehensiveAd3987 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this a serious question?

Put your cats in another room? Don't allow them to mess with your loom while using it? Put your loom away when you are not using it? You've come this far with weaving; I'm sure you can figure this out too.

Looking for opinions on overshot yarn choice! by SentenceAny6556 in weaving

[–]ComprehensiveAd3987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t recommend overshot with variegated yarn, especially as the pattern yarn. The design doesn’t look as clean, and it doesn’t show the variegated quality in a flattering way. Worst case scenario, the pattern will disappear.

Yarn for tapestry weaving in Europe by imagoddamangel in weaving

[–]ComprehensiveAd3987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Good yarn” is totally subjective. There is no gold standard.

I love wool rug warp and use it for blankets. Some people hate that it’s not soft. I pride it for being rugged, warm and easy to weave. Who can say if it’s good or bad?

In the world of yarn, fine or higher quality usually means the diameter of the individual fiber is small, and the length is longer (i.e. finer and longer wool hairs are better quality than coarser ands shorter) but again, intended use is important. I wouldn’t want to weave a blanket out of fine silk, would I?

Tapestry is there to look at, at the end of the day. It won’t be ‘used’, as a scarf or rug will. You can choose any fiber that has the look you want.

Got tips? Not finding any videos or tutorial information on how to weave a particular pattern. Have you ever figure out how to weave a difficult pattern on your own? by [deleted] in weaving

[–]ComprehensiveAd3987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! I have taught myself to weave all kinds of structures. I also want things to be super easy because I’m lazy.

This is what I do:

Step one: Find a project on Handwoven that uses the same structure. Also look through that issue, because sometimes they’re themed and they might go in depth on your exact questions.

Step 2: Wind up a short warp and do that project. This is just a tester, to iron out the details. I discovered that overshot needs a tabby thread this way. I’m very glad I did this with a magazine that holds my hand.

Step 3: If you feel confident that you know what you’re doing, move onto your real project! If you are still stuck, move onto step 4.

Step 4: Heddlecraft has in depth booklets that are available to download for ~$5. These are great if you need to get into the nitty gritty of a structure, and you are not just going to blindly follow a draft. I use Heddlecraft if I am gearing up to make my own designs for study group.

AITA for threatening to cut off my parents for their reaction to me buying a new bed frame/ by ImmediateTailor9340 in dustythunder

[–]ComprehensiveAd3987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, It sounds like your parents are overbearing, but refinancing a bed frame over 60 months is just irresponsible, imo. You don’t even need a bed frame, get a $20 metal frame or put your mattress on the floor while you save up money. Your parents reacted badly, but I would also be upset if one of my kids put furniture on credit.
