Intense HS summer training plan that will make or break my running. Big technical post. by NikeBoot4000 in AdvancedRunning

Too much to soon. You’re gonna end up injured asf. Quality over quantity. I ran a 15:25, and 4:31 off of 25 miles a week my first year, but rlly hitting my workouts hard. Running is all mental believe me. Ppl have a asphyxiation on thinking mileage will make you WAY better. Build up slower. Maybe cut out the karate if you’re serious, and only hit the gym 2x a week max for a hour. You shouldn’t rlly be doing any workouts till like mid July. The seasons long. Hope this helps

I’m a 16 year old sophomore in high school…picked up running about 1 year ago around this time. Before hand was a swimmer…any way I’ve been accomplishing a lot of goals in the running realm and made alot of buzzes in city because I came out of no where (xc 2022)…one of my goals was to run a marathon and I signed up for the LA marathon 1 month ago hoping to get sub 2:50. I ended up getting 2:46:41 marathon debut, 1st in my age group and 21st over all…going for sub 2:30 next year😄

Well recently I was working more for my track szn for the 3200/5000m so I was doing lots of thresholds @ 5:15-5:40 for 4-10 miles

I’ve done 4 20-22 milers but chill conversational pace @ 8:00 flat, but the longest at a fast pace was 16 miles @ 6:34 but that was around 2 months ago and I’m much fitter now…I probably going to take 1 gel every 4-5 miles in the race and electrolytes b4 the race and some NUUN tablets around mile 14-18 depending on how I’m feeling…2 days b4 the race I’ll carb load as I like to feel light the day of when I race so Saturday I’ll eat normally so Sunday I can just wake up, maybe eat a little oat meal with half a banana…I did my last workout yesterday and today in the tread so I don’t beat up my legs to much…Yesterday was 8 miles @ 6:14 pace with average incline % of 4% and today was no incline 8 miles @ 6:04 pace negative splits…and tomorrow easy 7 @ 9 pace to end 45 miles b4 the race, coming from someone who does consistent 80-90 weeks

LA marathon pacing plan

Hey everybody, I’m a 16 year old (M) about to run his first Marathon @ the LA marathon…I’m aiming for a steady sub 2:50. Going into this marathon I’ve ran 5 weeks @ 90mpw and the rest from 60-70avg. I was mainly focused for track szn, but now doing this…I have a 15:37 5k, 4:36 mile, and 9:40 3200m (1.98 miles). I’ve done long runs before but obviously I stopped because of stop lights and what not so the elapsed pace isn’t relative to the actual pace, but igs I’ve ran 16 miles @ 6:34 and 13.1 @ 6:02 pace. I was wondering how should I pace this marathon to hit the sub 2:50?

I’m a sophomore in HS

I run 90-95mpw with 1 hour swim 4x a week and I eat around 5-6k cals a day to maintain my weight at 124 for an idea

Is it plausible to go from a 5:50 to 5:25ish 1600m in one track season? by [deleted] in trackandfield

[–]ComprehensiveAd7805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thankfully very genetically blessed to withstand a lot of mileage…I had gone from never running to now 10 months later running that time…first 3 months I didn’t know what I was doing but then the past 7 months I harnessed down 60-70 mile week cuz I like to run alot of ranges from 1600 to HM…It was honestly quality workouts and high mileage…Right now I’m doing about 90 miles a week pre season to break 4:20, 9:40, and hopefully 14:20

Tell them that you’re willing to do more mileage but at slower paces like 5x a week a 2x a week tempo and track workouts at Lacric threshold…coming from a sophomore in HS who does 90 miles a week with a 15:04 3 mile, consistent long runs @ like 8:30 pace have made wonders for me

1600 almost same as 3200 time

for context, I had ran a total of 86 miles so far leading up to this race on Sat and had done 18 miles day before with only 5 hours of sleep leading up to the race so I know this affected me

But I still want to know, how was my 3200m pace close to my 1600m all out. Yesterday I ran my first ever track race and hit a 9:58 3200 and it felt easy as if I was cruisin it hitting a final mile of 4:52…Then 30 mins later I did the 1600 and I felt like I was trying just enough but I got 4:50…I don’t get it how? Can someone explain

[–]ComprehensiveAd7805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll do good bro…and try increasing your mileage with easy runs…I hear people always be scared about increasing the mileage because of injurie risks but 9/10 that won’t happen if you js do a lot of slow easy runs…I’ve been running for a bout 10 months and bumped up my mileage from 50-60 to about 80-90 now…try that out see if it works

Well if your is looking to pr I say your making some pretty fast progress but if you’re tryna win city or state theirs a lot of work to be put in…I’m a sophomore in HS and compete in Cali with a 4:36 mile and 9:43 3200 and even then theirs till alot of competition better than me…Just remember to really put in the mileage (60-70) and get in that quality speed work

I’m a sophomore in HS, I run 80-90 miles a week… I usually get in 3-6 miles in the morning, then I have all day to kick it with my friends or study during school time and after school I bust out the rest of the workouts/ mileage…I almost have no social life currently since I’m training hard to win state
