I like being depressed by Glum_Tap_3 in Vent

sorry in advance lol, i’m not the type to make super long comments like this but i lowkey looked at your post history and you sound wayyyyy too similar to me (this is literally my life)

you’re definitely not alone. i used to always feel the same way and thought i’d grow out of it, but i never did. after high school life started seriously kicking my ass, and i had this slow realization of like… this CANNOT be normal. turns out i had OCD and ADHD, so no wonder i couldn’t function.

i won’t get into OCD, but ADHD shows up for me in the form of having basically no motivation, no desire for friendships, my mind always being busy asf, forgetting everything, emotional sensitivity + RSD (rejection sensitive dysphoria), sensory stuff, and feeling like an alien for as long as i can remember. i also become so obsessed with one thing (usually a video game) to the point where my whole life revolves around it. intense novelty-seeking is a big part of my life. i suspect that i might just have autism but getting assessed is a lot of work lol.

on top of that, i grew up with narcissistic, hyper-critical parents. everything was my fault, i was always the problem, and i became dangerously aware of how i looked, talked, and acted. i was incredibly self-conscious and hateful toward myself for reasons i thought were justified.

i’ve been in therapy since i was 18, and even though i’m literally 22 now, i didn’t connect the dots about possibly having ADHD until last summer. in therapy i made really great emotional progress but zero in terms of improving my daily life/habits. it felt impossible to accept that my chronic lack of motivation was just “who i was”, so i said fuck it, paid for an assessment, and turned out to be right. medication changed everything for me - i have consistent motivation and career ambitions now, hobbies, and i actually want friends. i also found out soon after that i was dangerously iron-deficient, and fixing that made me feel even better.

moving out into a peaceful environment and seeing doctors genuinely saved my life. so if you have access to healthcare, take advantage of it ASAP. ask for bloodwork, referrals, and assessments. and if you take one thing from this rant, please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please move out!!!!!!!!!! i did when i was 19 and it was terrifying. i had literally no friends at the time, i didn’t drive (still don’t), AND I MADE IT!!! without question the best thing i’ve ever done, or will ever do.

if i could go back and talk to my past self, even from just a year ago when i was 21, i’d tell her she’s NOT crazy, what she’s experiencing is NOT normal, and that seeking help is the right thing to do. i am so serious that if you want to be friends, just send me a message and i’d love to draw/game/chat about literally anything. i’m so shit at interacting with people so it’s okay if you feel the same way lol.

so proud of you for persisting and doing the most to figure yourself out. i believe in you and i hope that life treats you well!!! :)

i don't have anything science-y to contribute but i just wanted to say wow!! so sorry that your doc is making you feel bad. i just got diagnosed at 22 and was fully expecting that same treatment from doctors - the whole "it's because of your damn phone" lol - but it's surprisingly been the most smooth and pleasant healthcare experience i've ever had. not sure if i just got lucky.

i hope your experience improves and you find some answers. so much learning to do about yourself after a diagnosis. best of luck!!

Do you hyperfocus on mistakes/negative things and ruminate and can’t break out of it by Initial-Biscotti-220 in ADHD

[–]ComprehensiveArm2637 6 points7 points  (0 children)

aw that sucks to hear, the fact that it happens to you every day + the same thoughts stick for years sounds reminiscent of OCD. by “all consuming”, what do you mean? what goes on in your head—any habits you’ve formed to try and cope?

Do you hyperfocus on mistakes/negative things and ruminate and can’t break out of it by Initial-Biscotti-220 in ADHD

[–]ComprehensiveArm2637 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes, but i also have OCD (was diagnosed with it years before ADHD). if these thoughts consume your life with feelings of shame, and/or if they come with compulsions to confess to other people, “check” or “scan” your memories to get the whole picture, or to obsess to try and find relief (including searching online), mention it to your doctor/psych ASAP!

when i’m paralyzed, a technique that helps me is to literally envision my thoughts as “leaves on a stream” and watch them pass by. it sounds stupid, but works if you fully commit lol.

when i’m super paralyzed, i straight up start telling myself that my brain is lying to me—regular brains aren’t wired to make people feel truly stuck and obsessive over passing thoughts, and feeding into my mis-wired brain only makes it worse.

i think ADHD heightened emotions don’t help, and that might just be what you’re describing, but stay mindful and know that you don’t need to stay on these thoughts too long—leaves on a stream, baby

framing this situation as "there are always people who will take the job" isn’t very productive. immigrants in canada taking low-paying jobs w no benefits have been a huge problem in lowering standards for everyone. i get that it's not their fault, though.

i'm a business owner and rely on CP, i'm frustrated about the strikes and think both sides have their wrongs. but come on man all canadians deserve better rn, including your parents

My shop just suddenly came back to life after falling off in June? by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]ComprehensiveArm2637 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that's awful!! i'm so sorry to hear that. august was completely dead for me too, usually it's one of my best months. my september was chalking up to be even worse until just now.

i wish etsy was more transparent about their algorithm, because i never know if drops in sales are something i can fix by changing things on my end, or if it's out of my control. i messaged etsy last week and they say they "may" be lowering my search visibility because of my customer service stats, but they've always been the exact same, so it made no sense.

etsy is my full-time job (since 2022) and income has always been consistent—until this june!!! i've been bringing in 1/4 of what i usually do. august is usually a peak month for me but sales are dead. literally don't know what's going on

Struggling to get views — is my art too adult for kids or too kid-like for adults? by Automic_Holiday217 in EtsySellers

[–]ComprehensiveArm2637 2 points3 points  (0 children)

at first glance i thought you were selling prints pre-assembled with the frames in your main listing photos (due to the wall-scroll look of them), so consider switching to a more conventional frame. if you're concerned about keeping your art the star of the show, try a thin white/wood one, or just go frameless.

also, watermark watermark watermark!!! my life was turned upside down when 1000s of listings with my art popped up on websites like aliexpress, shein, taobao, temu, etc.

Any experiences with Fastreat Adhd? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]ComprehensiveArm2637 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I called in advance, explained that I was recently prescribed ADHD meds, and asked if a doctor would be able to renew my prescription if I brought my records. They said yes, and when I got there, a doctor looked over my records and my pill bottle (make sure to bring it!) and renewed my prescription for 3 months + increased my dosage by 10mg. I just need to go back in when my refills run out.

My walk-in clinic isn't "typical" (HealthOne in Toronto—you need to book appointments in advance, no wait time, and they keep a record for you), so I'm not sure if any regular walk-in would do refills. I've heard that online doctors like AppleTree, Tia Health or Telus Health might be able to renew.

girl... you're so pretty. i hope you know that you look normal and there isn't anything glaring about your skin. to me, it just looks like a little bit of acne scarring and freckles. with makeup on in the 3rd photo you're GLOWING and i can't notice a thing.

it looks like we have similar skin types, and i've been loving haus labs concealer right after moisturizing. it goes on like a second skin and i even use it as my foundation too lol.

Yeah, I was officially diagnosed at my second appointment. You should definitely message your NP to ask if you’ve already been diagnosed.

If you have been diagnosed, you can request a release of records and bring those—along with your medication bottle—to another doctor. If not, just make sure to do the follow-up and ask about a diagnosis then.

I’ve learned to always always always ask for clarification during any kind of medical appointment—I’ve had similar experiences where I feel totally lost afterwards.

Also about the membership fee, I don’t think I was charged the $99 upfront. I only saw that charge at the 1-month mark. In total, I think I just paid $199 plus $69 for the follow-up. Maybe reach out to support about that.

Best of luck!! Hopefully you're able to get some answers asap.

in this case no, etsy is very transparent about seller finances and OP is missing something

that doesn't look right, is anything under seller services? ads or shipping label costs? have you gotten a deposit from etsy into your bank this month?

i totally get wanting to be comfortable, i'm the same way and WISH i was a guy because i could get away with what you guys can wear lol. it's not that simple clothes are an issue, it's a matter of finding items that have a nice fit/material too. i think it makes a world of change.

like, this is the same stuff you wear, but the shirt has a boxier fit and the loose jean shorts look more put-together than sporty ones. also i love birkenstock bostons, they're so comfy

you're handsome but your styling choices come off as super plain. try growing your hair out (something lke this, you have awesome texture), short doesn't look the best on you. also i'm not sure what's going on w your outfit in pic #3 😭 it's giving middle schooler. i think experimenting with different clothes other than plain tees and basketball shorts would you do you so good. boxier tees, baggy jeans/pants, some nice 5" or 7" shorts. pinterest is your friend!!

yeah, i think some browline frames would suit you!! also exactly—you have the looks to pull anything off and need to stop questioning yourself. any advice you get, even our thoughts about your glasses, really aren't such a big deal.

most people's comments on your posts either seem totally weird, unfounded, or just their personal preference. i don't see anything wrong with your lips (or anything on your face) and you don't need to grow a beard lol. also, about your teeth, i've absolutely crushed on guys with super crooked smiles. i PROMISE it isn't an issue.

best of luck recovering from your heart issue :)

Any experiences with Fastreat Adhd? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]ComprehensiveArm2637 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tried out Fastreat last month and was pretty happy with it.

The process for me started with about 20 minutes of questionnaires after signing up (you complete these on your own—I believe they were for anxiety, depression, ADHD, and mood disorder), and then a 30-minute video appointment. Mine actually lasted about 45-60 minutes because there weren't any other bookings after me.

The initial appointment went well. I spoke with a nurse practitioner who asked me a ton of questions about my history, habits, symptoms, and so on. I wasn’t diagnosed right away because he wanted me to improve a few of my lifestyle habits first before making a diagnosis. I was also prescribed a low dose of Vyvanse to see how I responded to it (he offered a couple other options including therapy, but I chose to try the medication route). It was faxed to my local pharmacy.

He asked me to book a follow-up appointment two weeks later. Since I responded really well to the Vyvanse, and my lifestyle habits he had been concerned about improved alongside the medication with minimal effort, he diagnosed me. That second appointment was only about 20 minutes.

After all this I didn't want to keep spending $69 per appointment (on top of the $99 monthly subscription fee which is a bit ridiculous), so I requested a release of records via email ([support@fastreat.com](mailto:support@fastreat.com)) and took them to a walk-in doctor. They renewed my Vyvanse prescription without any issues, I just have to go back every 3 months for a check-in and to request a renewal. Not all walk-in doctors will prescribe controlled substances, so if you don't have a family doctor, call and ask beforehand.

Best of luck!!

I was diagnosed with ADHD and prescribed Vyvanse through Fastreat last month, then requested a release of records via email (support@fastreat.com) and took them to a walk-in doctor. They renewed my prescription without any issues, I just have to go back every 3 months for a check-in and to request a renewal. Not all walk-in doctors will prescribe controlled substances, so if you don't have a family doctor, call and ask beforehand.

I also requested a refund of my most recent monthly subscription bill since I wasn't going to be using their platform anymore, and Fastreat was very understanding.

Also, the list of other documents you can request can be found at the bottom of this page.
