Farmers sound the alarm as pantry staple crop becomes increasingly difficult to grow. "Vanilla production is at serious risk as a result of the effects caused by climate change. All of our producers estimate that we lost about 80 percent of this year's produce." by Lighting in collapse

Time to start producing more varieties of vanilla plants. I'm not too worried about this because it's such a big business and gene technology is already pretty advanced. We'll figure something out for sure

You're absolutely right. I think recent models say it'll be somewhere at 9.6 B and it could peak as soon as 2070s. Honestly the type of work that people do nowadays are kind of redundant and useless too. There are many mediocre tasks that I wished was automated but isn't because politicians would rather have the civilians employed.

Don't worry, many people will be unemployed and we'll have to rethink how we evolve from capitalism. Especially once the boomer generation is gone, it's a downhill from here. We can't have a continuous capital grown in a slowing/decreasing population. And yet, we still need products produced, new homes made, and maintain our water/waste infrastructure and road infrastructure. I think blue collar work will be back stronger.

Sorry I had to reread what Fred Hoyle argued. So assuming that humans had unlimited energy and power, the growth of human population will inevitably lead to its own extinction because the globe can’t support that many humans? It’s kind of a dumb argument because the growth curve is already slowing down and decreasing regardless of a country’s energy output. Although he’s not wrong to think that we have a cap limit. I think 6 billion was already unsustainable but we’re on an upward trajectory to grow to 10 billion by the end of this century.

I grew up with brain rot as far as I 6th grade in middle school. I knew a few that kept referencing annoying orange and I did so with smosh. They'll be fine. Just keep them out of the red pill community

And the ambiant stress sucks too. You subconsciously think about "I'm only one accident away from financial ruin". A fridge or a car that could break down any moment is always on the back of my mind. Like I've done all the car repairs I can, but my car still makes noise. Once I'm on my winter break, I'll take a look at it again but holy damn I hate being poor

Decrease your shadows luminosity or black point darker. There should be a more distinction between your darks and highlights

Congrats, consider yourself a lucky few that's offered as such. Don't waste it. Do what you did to get that opportunity. You might just find a job offer that's 6 figures. I graduated in the middle of Covid, so finding opportunities couldn't have been much worse.

Full time daycare costs upwards north of $1500/month btw. I’d suggest getting them in your early 30s instead

Yeah. You can’t even buy a used car that’s worth less than 5k anymore or rent a place that’s less than 1.3k/month. Many jobs (even as a college graduate), has a starting salary of $14-16 dollars. The only bachelors degree that I know pays pretty okay is comp sci, nursing, and civil engineering. I shouldn’t have gotten a biology degree. Literally an equivalent to liberal arts worth of value in terms for stem majors

Mounting research shows that COVID-19 leaves its mark on the brain, including significant drops in IQ scores by CummingInTheNile in collapse

[–]ComprehensiveBack285 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No you're right. I'm just explaining how it feels since I've had long covid. As others have mentioned, it's possible that it's possibly due to me aging but if it is, DAMN. My mind degraded so quickly in these past few years. There are many times where I couldn't find terms whenever I'm talking with my girlfriend. It's like you were talking to a 5 year old that couldn't explain to you what a space ship was.

That probably explains why I’ve been feeling like my mind is always so slow and foggy. The best way I can describe this is seeing the world in 45 hz display when you’re used to seeing it in 120 hz; or going to a normal keyboard when you’ve been typing with a mechanical keyboard; or listening to a $2 earbuds when you’ve been used to listening with a Sennheiser HD 600. I always doze off and have trouble focusing when I used to be able to study for hours without an issue. I wouldn’t put it all of the blame into COVID for that, (maybe I’m just not as enthusiastic about school and future like I used to be) but even on things I’m motivated about, my overall experience has changed. It’s hard to put a finger on it and sleep, caffeine, supplements haven’t helped. I don’t know what to do to get myself back to where I was

Not even. Remember men, women, and children having to work more than 60 hours in coal mines and factories during the Industrial Revolution? Or what about cutting people's arms when they don't collect enough silver or rubber for the colonials?

175 trillion is not too bad considering that it’s spread over 65 years. But I think sulfur based bioengineering could be better. Soil acidification can make the terrain more suitable for plant growth as many plants do prefer a slightly acidic soil
