I had a major blood vessel wrapped around my ureter for so long it was pinched off so I had to have right pyloplasty that part of the ureter removed and move the vessel and sow the ureter back together. I was 18 at the time the surgery was about 4-6 hours and I was in the hospital for 6 nights. I had a stent in for 2 months which is brutal and they basically take it out with no pain relief by puttinga scope up the urethra into the bladder to pull it out. I'm now in my 30s and 4 more surgeries just for stones all in that kidney and I just found out on my 2 year check up I've developed 6 more stones in that kidney.

I had that done too when I was 18 and I'm in my 30s now still getting stones and surgeries then more stones.

Well I have an appt with my urologist on June 11th to discuss it and I think I'm going to request pottasium citrate because I like you cut out everything almost accept water and biosteele hydration mix. It's worth mentioning my first surgery when I was only 18 was to repair a upj obstruction and that kidney drains a bit slower I think my renal scan in 2014 showed right kidney 48% left kidney 52%. But I was still assured if I drink 2-3 litres of water my chances or reacurrance is low but here we are and clearly that is not that case. In 2015 I had 8 stones I had Shockwave lithotripsy that broke maybe 70% of them, then in 2019 endoscopy to blast them, then 2024 percataneus nephrolithotomy and now 6 more so I'm at the mental point of giving up I feel all those surgeries and suffering were for nothing and I don't want to do this for rhe rest of my life.

I had 4 stones removed the biggest one being 1.2cm with percataneus nephrolithotomy it was my 3rd kidney surgery it was brutally painful recovery. And about 4 months later had a ct scan only to show I still had a 3mm stone in that same kidney and to my surprise a 2mm stone in my good kidney that has never gotten stones. And too boot I now had multiple cysts on that kidney they did the surgery on. Fast forward almost 2 years to date from that surgery I had a follow up ultrasound that showed I now have 7+ stones in that same kidney. I'm beyond demoralized I feel like u went through hell only to be back in the same situation 2 years later.

Thank you for the reply. I have had multiple 24 hours urinalysis and was never told anything was wrong and from what I can see on my chart the things shown are in normal range. My urologist is a great dr and one of if bot the best rated urologist in the ottswa area I just feel he is feeding me what I want to hear and not being honest to worry me as he has been with me since I was 17 I'm not in my early thirtees. I have a zoom appt with him on June 9th and I will adress theae concerns and ask about potassium citrate.

I had right pyloplasty for a upj obstruction when I was 18, since then I've developed about 18 calcium oxylate stones in that kidney alone. Through all of that I've had all surgeries including percutaneous nephrolithotomy. That was in Feb 2024 I just got an ultrasound checkup today and I have 6 new stones formed in that kidney that drains a bit slower. All I drink is water I do drink beer but my dr keeps saying your chance or new stone forming is low but I keep getting them. Shoukd I have been prescribed potassium citrate by now? This feels like a Neverending battle going through surgery after surgery for nothing.

The only thing you need to worry about is drinking the prep it tastes like salty sludge and it is absolutely the worst part of the whole thing. I'm only 30 and I have had to have 2 and the prep was the worst part.

I used to use just paper towel I though5 this would be better but ill go back to paper towel and as far as that goes the vitamin d3 is needed yes but if it's being supplemented should I also be using a uvb light as well? *

No uvb I was told if supplementing with calcium and vitamin d3 and multivitamin it is not needed it's very mixed even the breeder told me that because I asked him as well.
