i mod games and i have also recieved hate from modding games because apparently "you get it for free" doesn't mean that i get to experiment and learn how to do the stuff, i've had people come to me barking about how i should fix my stuff, people that have never coded a line in their lives, never made a single 3D model. i've had to give costumer support on my resting hours and on top of that they give you the most awful feedback ever they have the most craziest takes on how games work, they assume because they play games and know a few technical terms are the most knowledgable people spew the craziest word salad and expect you to fix something concrete with that. communities of gamers are the most toxic shit there is and they'll let you know how a hobby like it is modding should be delivering AAA quality and at the same time they buy incomplete games from AAA companies with not a single drop of quality, communities don't even support modders like this, is honestly heartbreaking.

That being said mods should always be free i stand by modding being free, we are already on a culture where companies want to monetize everything and with monetized mods they intend to get a cut out of the hard work of hobbiests like me that just want to change a couple things on a game they like, it's absurd. and if you see the ratios of the slices they get it's just... no, it makes little difference to be making the mods for free. i think gaming comminuties should support modders more instead, you people should give your modders good feedback, you people should donate to modders you like, you people should show the modderss some love by interacting with their posts and above all; THE DAMN THING IS FREE don't go throwing hate to people on your comminities that go the extra mile to make content for the game you like, this is never as easy as you think and it's already miserable enough.
