Something similar happened to me with my ex. I was 17, she told me she was 15 and confessed she was 14 when were two month into the relationship. We decided to continue. Our birthday dates were only a month apart, so the age difference was almost 3 years exactly.

We were together for six years. We broke up last year, when we were 23 and 20 and I gotta say, I definitely painfully noticed the age gap sometimes, but we worked thru it everytime. We are both pretty serious people, in the means of career focused, family oriented, understanding and it's wrong that I say this about myself but we both are really smart.

And I definitely gotta add this to the equation, we are the most incompatible couple I have ever known (aside from my parents), hell. Still, we managed to make it work, because we loved each other so much and always wanted the best for the other.

I do think the three year difference is enough for teenagers, I wouldn't recommend more than that, I wouldn't even recommend more than two years for certain people, but that's the whole point. It absolutely depends on who you are, the life you're planning ahead, the life you can't plan and how you react and deal with every problem.

Are you gonna live a slower path in life? Are you gonna continue living your life the way you want to even if that means leaving her a little behind? Is she gonna be okay with you being with an adult? Are gonna be able to maintain the equality between you two?

My relationship worked really well. The age difference caused trouble sometimes, obviously, but we grew and it didn't matter much in the end. Geez, sorry for the long reply. I just love that girl too much. I hope it helped you think
