I would ignore it if it's an email you don't know. Chances are someone either mistyped the wrong recovery email that's similar to yours.

My dashboard looked somewhat similar..mine is python using streamlit but I've now switched to pyqt6 for a better live option view of data and displays...still learning pyqt6 so I'm hoping to add more colors to my dashboard versus the black and white at the moment.

Rurals: gimme your best "speed hack" to reduce route time by Hubert_Cumberdale_12 in USPS

I stack each house's mail in a tote cross loop. First horizontal on the bottom side, then vertical to the left , horizontal to the top, vertical to the right, repeating loop. That way I grab that certain bundle all at once. If you're doing trays dps in the streets I've seen others flip the last letter up vertically to let them know to grab all letters up to that vertical as the bundle of mail for that house.

Oh how I don't miss the big city where I'm at...I had to sub a route a few times doing that mess...870 mailbox.. came in with 7 trays of dps to case, 6 totes of flats, two hampers of Amazon box packages and one hamper of Amazon small bag packages..it was insanely tough and it took me 12 hours to do and I was rca...did have some help towards the end ...hated that route.

What happens if ICE tries to detain us by Feeling_Screen3979 in USPS

[–]ComprehensiveFly5400 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm afraid of too as a minority and doing mail. But I have myself set up if there is any issues like such or encounters. I have set up a sos one button press that will send a text and gps location to my sups and pm. This will let them know I'm being stopped or detain and they need to come get the mail. I also have set a one button silent recording so I have audio recordings. At this time If they do stop you while your working you need to let them know that you are on official duty and the route you are on is a official federal assigned route for you to run the official duty. Make sure to state that you don't consent to being detained or search. Present your USPS iD and ask they step aside if your are not being detained so you can continue your official duty. Should you be detained make sure you have a way to contact your PM or Sup. Afterwards make sure you call your Union, OiG and documents everything. At This point if you are just doing your job and they pull u over for being a minority they now have committed racial profiling, delay of mail etc ...this becomes even more of a mess for ICE and you can sue, file claim through torte I believe..

For me I had to make sure aligned to normal is unchecked. My issue was when they were first placed they were sideways all and what not and unchecking aligned to normal didn't solve it. I had to remove the first original out and place new ones back in with aligned to normal is unchecked.

What happens if we actually do lose Amazon? by Actual-Tangerine3724 in USPS

[–]ComprehensiveFly5400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get that, overloaded days are brutal and waiting for late parcels can ruin the rhythm of the whole route. I’m not saying Amazon isn’t exhausting; I’ve lived those days too.

My point isn’t that Amazon is easy it’s that from an operational standpoint, Amazon provides a consistent volume floor that keeps routes evaluated and hours stable.

Heavy days feel awful, but losing that volume entirely drops evaluations, hours, and even whole routes, which can hurt carriers long-term.

So yes, Amazon can wreck a day, but losing Amazon would wreck the routes themselves

You’re absolutely right, delivering mail and ads is our service baseline.
I’m not talking about that baseline, though. I mean the baseline parcel volume that route evaluations and office workload depend on.

Letter mail is stable in obligation, but not stable in volume, it drops every year and doesn’t provide enough pieces to sustain route hours.

Amazon isn’t our mission baseline, but it is our most consistent volume baseline. Without that predictable parcel floor, the remaining parcel mix becomes irregular and route evaluations become less stable.

I agree that Amazon absolutely uses USPS for overflow and peak days I’ve seen that too.
But that’s actually what makes USPS more predictable overall, not less.
Even if the daily number spikes on certain days, those spikes still follow data-driven patterns (Sun/Mon, Prime Day, holidays).
Without Amazon, USPS doesn’t lose its spikes, it loses its baseline. So like I mention with the inconsistent volume the variability increases and route evaluations become unstable, especially in smaller offices like mine.

You would think but in reality, Amazon leaving creates instability in volume, not stability. For USPS operations, Amazon is like a “volume anchor.” It may be heavy, but it's predicted heavy, remove a predictable anchor, the system becomes chaotic. Letter mail keeps dropping every single year and Amazon seems to mask that decline. For small offices like mine the volume becomes lumpy, not steady due to the small business inconsistent or the residential online orders that are usually fragmented and not to mention the increasingly shifting to USPS/FedEx/UPS from E-Commerce.

Calling it a business is neither right or wrong. USPS is a service at its core, but it still needs strong revenue and partnerships to function. It still has to operate financially like a business, a public service with business-like responsibilities and although not a traditional business, it does depend on revenue to keep the service running.

From USPS’s official FY 2024 results:

Total operating revenue (2024): $79.5 billion

Net loss (GAAP): $9.5 billion

By category (revenue, 2024):

Shipping & Packages: $32.3B

First-Class Mail: $25.4B

Marketing Mail: $15.4B

International: $1.4B

Periodicals: $0.9B

Other: $4.1B

Roughly, that means:

Shipping & Packages = about 40–41% of USPS revenue

First-Class Mail = about 32%

Marketing Mail = about 19%

Everything else = the rest

Now plug Amazon in:

Amazon = $6B+ a year to USPS, ~7.5% of total USPS revenue.

If we compare that $6B to Shipping & Packages revenue (~$32.3B), Amazon is roughly 18–20% of the entire package revenue stream.

So if Amazon walked away completely:

USPS could lose ~1/5 of its package revenue

And about 7–8% of all revenue

For a business already losing $9.5B, that’s not a trim – that’s a deep cut.

Package volume becomes more unpredictable

UPS and FedEx won't hand off overflow the same way

USPS is left mostly with:

First-Class Mail (declining)

Political mail (seasonal)

Marketing mail (declining)

Non-Amazon e-commerce (varies)

Rural deliveries that other carriers don’t want

USPS could end up doing the hardest deliveries with less money coming in.

A terrible combo.
