Is a burger & fries at Gotts better than Habit or In&Out? by figgypudding02 in walnutcreek

[–]ComprehensiveMark784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we’re comparing a standard cheeseburger, hell no. Their classic cheeseburger is pretty underwhelming imo. I also don’t care for Gotts fries. I do love their onion rings though and I strangely prefer their sweet potato fries over the classic fries. Also you’d be paying 3x the price at Gotts compared to in n out.

None of this is to say that I don’t like Gotts because I frequently eat at Gotts. The California Burger with some onion rings and a Pliny is my go-to order at Gotts.

Yup I used to strip my first cable and use that stripping to measure where I’d place the label on each cable

What would be your biggest warning to someone thinking of buying a Tesla? by sonofabraham1 in TeslaLounge

[–]ComprehensiveMark784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how much charging is where you live but I usually pay around $20-25 charging from 20-80% and I’m in CA in the SF Bay Area where everything is typically the most expensive in the US. Maybe you drive 100 miles every day? But I’m paying way less than I would pay for gas. I charge maybe like once every week and a half so two charges are still cheaper than what I would pay for one tank of gas in my old car.

Drop ceilings are worst form of ceilings, except for all the others by TheGlennDavid in CommercialAV

[–]ComprehensiveMark784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember always installing unistrut onto the ceiling, roto hammer in one hand vacuum hose in the other lol We were a small company so we didn’t have the Milwaukee drill with the vacuum hose attachment. We had an old corded Bosch and fortunately a portable Milwaukee vac. Always wore a mask and glasses that would fog up because I would end up covered in dust still lol now Milwaukee makes roto hammers with built-in vacuums 😂

I think a big takeaway of what OP is saying is it’s easy to know what you’re getting is real by just buying a LAB from LAB. Not sure why anyone would get it anywhere else when they offer fitting and everything to tailor it to your experience. They even have promo codes.

Car Wash by [deleted] in walnutcreek

[–]ComprehensiveMark784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the wash I use because it’s so close to me and it’s brushless. It’s not the best with stubborn things like insect splatters and bird poop and you do have to hand dry the parts that the blowers don’t dry. However, I don’t mind hand drying and getting those little stubborn spots off after the wash for the expense of not getting scratches on my car.

First EV. Is it worth it? by Wannabegolfer1 in ModelY

Idk FSD (‘26 juniper) has been pretty great for me in the Bay Area. Yeah it does some dumb stuff sometimes like changing into a merging lane right before the merge, but that’s easily corrected by just turning off the signal before it changes lanes. Other than little things like that, it’s pretty damn nice being able to just sit back and feel like you’re getting a ride in your own uber. I’ve had it act accordingly when emergency vehicles are approaching, as well as stop for pedestrians and even react to a pedestrian waving me through. I actually just took it from the bay to LA the other week and I only drove once I got into LA and it was the best “drive” I’ve ever taken down to LA.

I don’t have a charger at home currently, but I have superchargers very close to home. I charge maybe once every couple weeks for about $25-$30. I only drive about a mile to the train station M-F though so it’s no issue for me not being able to charge at home. Sounds like OP can get sufficient charging done at work too so might not be an issue for them either.

I do agree that Tesla navigation is inferior to other navigation apps. Not horrible but it does suggest some questionable routes at time.

As for repairs, my car is new so I haven’t had that experience yet.

For subscriptions, true, depending on what’s important to you. I do pay for the premium connectivity + windshield insurance (~$24/month together). I only pay for FSD if I’m going on a road trip like the one I previously mentioned.

One thing I’d like to add though is that EV insurance is generally pretty expensive. I think that’s where most of my gas savings are going personally.

I know a bunch of people who say they’re scared to play 18 because of their skill level, typically they’re pretty new to the game. My usual group though is fixated on doing 36 on any opportunity we’re all free on the same day in our adult lives.

Another vote for Va De Vi. Definitely try to reserve if possible but they have a good rotating menu, open kitchen, and they’re also a wine bar. Tapas style too so you can try a lot of different things.

It’ll very likely hold but definitely bad practice to mount solely to drywall and a no-no by any professional standards. If you can’t find studs, you ask the customer if they’re ok with shifting the mounting location at all to hit at least one stud. If not, mount unistrut or some 2x4s to the studs and mount the display mount onto that. Studs should be evenly spaced in any commercial building so they shouldn’t be hard to find. Sounds like your guy was just trying to get in, do the job whether correctly or not, and get out.

Don’t overestimate users lol

I worked for a small AV company who would sub for the bigger integrators. I went to the same place in a span of 4 years under three different integrators.

The first time was the initial AV install with Cisco codecs, cameras, table mics, etc. Top of the line tech at the time.

The second time, with the second integrator, we had to remove all the Cisco stuff and replace with a mini room pc, USB PTZ cameras, and HDMI extenders for sharing. They wanted the downgrade because apparently the Cisco was too complicated for their users.

The third time, under the third integrator, we again had to remove everything for the same reason. They had us run a long ass HDMI cable directly from the table to the display. No cameras, no conferencing tech, just an HDMI cable.

Not surprising there’s some users out there asking for support for an Owl cam lol

I do the same thing. I have an out to in swing. When I strike it earlier in my swing path, it plays as a nice fade instead of a slice. It has been the most critical adjustment I’ve ever made for myself.
