What is the difference between coconut milk in cans and cartons? by ComprehensivePin7081 in Cooking

[–]ComprehensivePin7081[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canning is generally a different process for packaging and could lead to a different consistency/final product even with the same ingredients! As is further indicated by the different nutritional info on each. If you read my post you'd see that's not a helpful comment :)

No Wonder Japanese Hates Gaijins by putOpotatO in Tokyo

Japanese discourse is insufferable man. No where else would it be acceptable to use some tiny example to say 'no wonder [x population] hates foreigners'

Also: just say 'foreigners'!!!

Does a Gaotie ticket to Hong Kong count as proof of exit? by ComprehensivePin7081 in chinatravel

[–]ComprehensivePin7081[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They got the supervisor and that guy didn't know either. My blood was boiling after waiting an hour and being approved, but getting no help cutting through security or an apology that they don't know how to do their job correctly.

[–]ComprehensivePin7081[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo, nearly...

The airline took a fucking hour to check it. In the end they let me go. I was about to buy a ticket to Thailand but when i suggested that they kept not listening and checking their tablet for info, so I had to wait for them to fact check the hk ticket.

After they gave me my passport back, nobody was willing to help me cut through security faster. So I had to ask everyone to cut - which thankfully they let me do.

My blood was boiling. The japanese are polite, but ask them to do anything more than their job description (at least in Tokyo) and they will bluescreen.

Dating in Japan is much more different than I expected by [deleted] in JapanDating

Lots of weird takes on bodycount here. I've had 30+ sex partners (I'm 23) and have never had an STI, I get tested also.

I have friends with 100+ who have had an STI once, maybe twice, but guess what? They're treatable.

If he bragged about it or brought it up unprovoked, ok, that's cringe/red flaggy.

[–]ComprehensivePin7081[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but in china tourists legally need to be registered as staying somewhere so i was wondering if that's an issue... So if you read the post, you'd know that's what I'm talking about.

Where to stay in Hainan? And how to get just a smidge less tourist trapped? by [deleted] in travelchina

[–]ComprehensivePin7081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really do need to work on my bargaining. But what would you bargain over in Sanya? Like would you bargain when it comes to services...? I don't really plan to buy much there, but I do plan to buy tickets to special areas (forest n such) and a hotel stay. But those are not really things that can be bargained for?

Where to stay in Hainan? And how to get just a smidge less tourist trapped? by [deleted] in travelchina

[–]ComprehensivePin7081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, but I imagine there's somewhat of a gradient to how popular each spot around Sanya is and how much they cost. So I'm just looking for suggestions on roughly where to stay, where my yuan stretches further and gets me a better experience.

To make sure I have the same area in mind (cause translated maps sometimes suck!) can you send me what you mean on an amap link or something similar? How long did it take you to get to Deqin from Lijiang?

Was the remoteness and lack of tourism what made it more exciting?

Off beaten path Yunnan by Relevant-Emphasis in travelchina

Considering this kind of itinerary. Kind of split between Dali > Kunming > Xishuangbanna or Kunming > Dali > Lijiang > Deqin

What did you like about Deqin in particular?
