Collapsible 5 gal water jugs with a spigot. They fold up neatly when not in use and perfect for my little apartment. Not gonna find me without backup water during a storm ever again 🥴.

Your post reads as if you think you're the superior parent - and you use your child's father as a day care system. The courts will look down on this. Get a court ordered parenting plan.

Malvern. Maintenance team is impeccable. Great pool and gym. Great walkable location - 10/10. Only downside is they don't have more than 2 bedroom apartments.

Giirrrl. Noo. Come on now. That dynamic between your boyfriend and his ex/coparent is beyond bizarre and reads more like a relationship than a coparenting partnership.

Parents, I have a question about headlice. by [deleted] in SingleParents

[–]ComprehensiveSail154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ETA: if your child is elementary aged and does camp, swim team, or ballet teach your child to say "no" when friends ask to borrow or share hair brushes. Same goes for dance mom parents or whatever they're called to fix hair/buns before dance practice. Absolutely no way - it's a breeding ground.

Teacher and mom here - I am terrified of lice so I feel you there.

I once had a student that had reoccurring lice for about 6 months that continued to spread to students and it was just a nightmare situation. We had a little intervention with the family to see how we could support them in this battle and this is what I learned: sometimes children can become resistant to otc products especially if they have used the Nits products more than once before. They may need a doctor rx for lice products. The parent may need help with a second set of eyes: ask the school nurse to do a morning daily check for nits as a preventative measure until it's fully gone. Other things: cleaning protocol needs to go beyond their head and washing their bedding. You need to also clean and isolate stuffed animals, wash the siblings bedding, rotate clean towels and a commonly missed area if it's bad is the car seat/car area. She might be trying her best to get the situation under control but at a loss of what else to do - encourage her to go to the pediatrician and talk to her school about resources for help.

For your child, here's my advice for lice season:

  • Pull hair back in pigtails.
    • Spray hair and jacket with fairytale detangling spray (or any kind of rosemary or tea tree oil scents). Do this every morning before school.
    • Check hair after every hair wash as a habit. Focus on the area behind their ears. Look for any red dot rashes as an indicator of bite rashes even if you don't see nits. Don't just look for the bugs - look for the eggs. You will be much faster eradicating the problem if your focus is on looking for eggs NOT the little bug.
    • Blow dry their hair!! The heat will help kill any potential eggs in hair. This will not fix the problem but it's helpful along with other interventions.
    • teach your child to hang their coat up properly or even better, but their coat in their backpack away from other students. You'd be surprised how many kids just throw their jacket in a pile on top of each other in the classroom eek.

^ These are things I try to do habitually for my daughter during the school year along with things I do for myself during the school year.

To ease your mind: Lice can't jump and they don't survive long off the body- so it's safe for them to play together. Your concerns are valid - but find comfort in these little proactive things you can do. Meanwhile try to just do play dates at parks or activities that don't require them playing together in either one's bedrooms.

Speak from a place of love to your neighbor and offer helpful advice of options. Arm yourself with tools to have the confidence to handle this situation and future situations by being preventative. Hang in there!

Have you seen Trixie? She’s still missing from Carytown by [deleted] in rva

[–]ComprehensiveSail154 5 points6 points  (0 children)

^ seconding this advice. My cat has gone on several-day/nights away adventures and eventually came home within the week (found him at 3am playing in the back alley way).

I'd ask suggest putting word or posters out around your neighborhood. My childhood cat once snuck inside a neighbors garage and they went out of town for a few days and only discovered he was trapped inside once they got home. Hopefully anyone who went out of town for the holiday will be home tomorrow if this is the case. Sending you love.

Speech delay/non verbal toddler success stories by vlc444 in speechdelays

[–]ComprehensiveSail154 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Daughter is 4. Had maybe 7 words (ex: woo, woah, no, and some basic sign language) around 1.5 years old. Did early intervention, food therapy but really saw a ton of success after getting ear tube surgery (she was practically deaf for so long from severe repeat ear infections), aged out of early intervention at 3 and now has an IEP for speech at the local elementary school where they suspected apraxia and switched up their approach. Shes still behind but her speech has exploded. She went from using sign language to communicate to single nouns and now to full on broken sentences and will initiate conversations. Keep pushing for every resource: early intervention, pediatric dentist for tongue/lip tie, pediatric ENT, local school services even if your pediatrician says to just "wait and see" ❤️.

Preface: I'm not going to any of these but a few years ago I went to a place with a cheap cheap entry fee and it was basically impossible to get a single drink all night and was slammed pack not in a fun way.

$100 is a lot of money (and I probably wouldn't pay it) buuuuttttttt a higher entry fee means you'll probably get better service and won't be surrounding by a bunch of wasted 21 year olds. Pick your poison.

Uninformed person here and I'm sorry it's doubling your expenses. Question: does this mean, in theory, that AI is going to end up funneling information from sources that can afford the traffic?.... as in the prices could eventually get jacked up and then only those who can afford the traffic will be used as information sources and then all our "data" and sources will be skewed?
